The library space inside downstairs has kids section, meeting room, new arrival books, non fiction, books for sale on honor system. Upstairs has the South Carolina room which is the history area with microfiche machines. In addition there is a small art gallery, public computers, study rooms, newspapers. I came here to get library card so could use Libby app for audio books. The employee I spoke to was very pleasant in explaining the library set up.

This is the location for the new library and it's quite a structure, especially in comparison to…read moreit's old location (not the one on Wesmark, that's just a branch). It's behind Tuomey, next to the administrative buildings (where the Clemson Co-op is). This library uses a new keyring card for identification. That may be standard now, I don't know. The building itself is quite nice, with a large children's area off to the right when you enter and they have their own computers for playing on. Periodicals, best-seller books, and videos are off to the left. Upstairs is the rest of the books plus a general-use computer section with approximately 30 stations. Book selection is still lacking, that's a quality that carried over from the previous location, but is definitely better than it was. I gave it 4 stars because that's just how much better it is now (for a library alone I'd give it a 3-3.5).

I cannot adequately describe the employees at both locations. They are friendly, respectful, and always seem eager to assist. It is rare to visit a business with such consistent customer service skills. Also, I always enjoy attending the Friends Of The Library book sale. Love it!

They make it really easy to find books via their website. I can log into my account and place a hold from home and then they will email and/or text when it is available. The reserved books section is to the right when you walk in the door. It's alphabetized by the borrower's last name so you can easily grab your book and head to the checkout stations. If you're checking out a book from another library, you will have to scan the barcode inside the back cover (or some are on the back cover), otherwise the system just knows what the book is when you lay it on the console. The parking lot is pretty small here so I usually have to park in the shopping center lot and walk over (not far). Also, free WiFi here!

Filled with books that celebrate history, current novelist favorites, children's selection, and a quiet space not yet tarnished and overrun with technology, the Timrod is perhaps the best Library I have encountered yet. It's enough to make anyone re-discover and fall in love with Libraries as they were once intended- a peaceful space to educate oneself and dive into both new and old perspectives. The smells of the old 1915 home make you feel blessed to even be amongst such information that can both educate and open your eyes. Open from 10-5 daily, the fee for membership at this nonprofit is only $25 a year. This type of non profit is a great reminder that not all are the same- the money from membership goes to being able to maintain the site rather than go directly into someone's pocket. Of course you're free to spend time learning complimentarily, but once you set foot inside and are open to all it has to offer, needless to say, I wanted to give more so that this special place can continue to exist and thrive. Did I mention T-shirts. You simply must go. The staff are all wonderful people to care about people and their work. Before the pandemic, there used to be a table that had a community jigsaw puzzle which was fun to contribute to. Years ago they had teen programs and craft nights and the summer reading programs gave me something to look forward to as a kid. Also before the pandemic they had events like "color your stress away" where adults could meet up, color, and converse with each other which was neat. There's seating areas and private rooms to fit your needs whether it's to get work done or have a quiet study group.

Like the other branches that I've visited, the inside is bright, colorful, and inviting, and has a wide array of computers, printers, copiers, and other electronics for guests to use. This location also has a children's arts and crafts section, which I would've loved when I was a kid. However, what stood out about this particular branch was the quality in which the books were curated and displayed. I loved walking through the aisles and checking out the different categories and genres, as well as the New York Times bestsellers and Pulitzer Prize-winning books. Although I had placed a hold, I walked away with two (2) other books that I thought would be interesting, owing to the effort that the librarians exerted in crafting the displays of books. All-in-all, this is yet another fantastic branch of the Richland Library system, and I loved my trip here!
