This is such a beautiful library! I would say that Richland Library Main is one of the crown jewels of Columbia, and one of the best contemporary libraries I've ever been to. Not only does it have a great selection of books, but it has so many cool features as well, like computers, printers, fax machines, and even a wood-working station. They also do a lot of really cool events there, like "Ask-an-Attorney" sessions, meet with a social worker, prepare and edit your resume, gardening clubs, and of course, book clubs. They also seem to have a really cool children's and kid's section that I would have loved when I was younger. Another thing that I was very pleased to see was that they're doing a much better job of cracking down on the homeless population who used to use the library as a shelter. I don't want to sound insensitive, but in years past, I would try to use this library, but literally had to step over homeless people sleeping in the aisles, constantly being harassed for money, and creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. Nowadays, they have security guards who are respectful to the homeless, but don't condone inappropriate behavior. This was a welcome change from years past. Finally, I received excellent service from the gentleman working behind the desk (I describe him this way only because I'm not sure if he was an employee or a volunteer.) He was extremely kind, and helped me to find a book that I was looking for very easily. All-in-all, this is a great library, and I'll most definitely be back soon!

My girls and I love coming to the library, especially this branch. It's very expansive and has a bit of something for everyone. We like to partake in the scavenger hunts in the kids area. In addition to regular library materials, they also have workshops for creators. The location is wonderful and is easily accessible from any part of town.

This is such a great library. It's been a few years since I've seen a public library truly invest in their community and keep up to date with relatable activities. They have a large selection of books of books, DVDs, CDs and records. You even have access to renting video games! In addition to their extensive catolog of books, they have 3 floors of meeting spaces, study rooms and lounge area. And for the crafters, artist, musicians and woodworkers, they provide a community art / crafts space. The rooms are fully stocked with the equipment needed to get any project done. The community is very blessed to have access to this space.

I absolutely love this place!! it's very relaxing and there is a variety of things to do. They have a huge selection of books. It is very spacious, very clean, and there is lots of seating. It is a great place for all ages. If you've never been here before i'd definitely recommend it.

I love the libraries in SC! Informative, great website, crafting, & how to projects. The staff is very informative and willing to help. They remodeled last yr the inside and parking areas. Ive met some really cool people in the classes/ events they offer. Only issue I have is the smoking and homeless people hanging out inside and out. I did report the issue in the front door and the staff made them move. Not fair for non smokers to have to deal with this issue. Ive never felt unsafe at the library, they do have security monitoring walking the floors. I always try to make it to the special events or collabs the have with the art center. Our tax money is being spent well at our libraries! Also check out the website for more info. They keep the facility very clean. 2 events were on display currently at the library: Cecil J Williams- photographer for civil rights & Correta Scott King- Our Voice Illustrator Awards. There are so many offerings in Richland County's library system and always something going on! I am still in awww of the renovated branches and the work done at Main, too. There's no other place like it in our state -- I get a good feeling every time I walk through the door. Access freely everyone! :)

Welcome to "Where the Wild Things Are". Say hello to the Cat in a Hat, Winnie the Pooh and Horton. Kids have fun reading, solving puzzles, drawing and decorating. Spending quality time with you it's all that matters. The Children's Room (downstairs) it's huge yet cozy, naturally lit, air-conditioned, and ornated with natural trees. There are plenty of comfy couches, chairs and benches for you and the little ones to relax. Don't worry too much about making noises...there are only parents, kids and babies around. Tips to know before you go 1. Kids love choosing their own books. Lana made 4 trips picking up "her favorites". If you want to choose the books, each age is color-coded. 2. If you're pressed for time the staff can suggest age-appropriate titles. You can even call ahead at (803)-929-3434 and books will be ready for you. 3. Free wireless Internet is available throughout the building. 4. Finlay Park is nearby in case you need to stretch out, get some fresh air, take the kids to the playground to burn some energy or just relax by the soothing waterfalls.

They have great study rooms, desktop computers to use, a fax machine, printer, copier, etc. It also appears to have a great section for children, as well as an easy and convenient drive-thru way to return your books. Finally, the staff has never shown anything other than the utmost level of kindness and helpfulness. All-in-all, this is a great library that Forest Acres is lucky to have!

Additionally, there are tables where you can sit to read or work on your laptop. I found that if you needed a study room, you could secure one if you arrived early enough. I believe that there is a 2-hour time limit, but you can extend if no one else is waiting for me. The staff at this location is super friendly and helpful. I never needed any assistance, but I have seen them help individuals print or use computers. Another great perk of the Richland Library System is the free printing; if you have a library card, you can print up to a certain amount of pages per day. This printing perk comes in handy if you need to print something. There are also scanners if you need to scan anything. All in all, this small library is the perfect place to come and read a great book, study for an exam, or work on the computer.

I don't know how much librarians get paid. And the only reason they get these 2 stars\n It's…read morebecause of the security staff that seems to help better. Than the staff that are employed to work at the library. It seems like they get so engrossed in Doing other things like searching on the computer or reading above whatever's on their mind, it aint on really helping people, I have a head injury, okay, and I take medication. And I also have personal letters to deal with when I go in there, I need their help. I don't care if I ask for help, 20 times while I'm in there, isn't it? Their job to do just that? Why do people get jobs working with the public? And they don't have the willingness to help you, they seem to be glued to their seat. Now, I'm not talking about all the stuff, but I'm talking about most of them, you have about 3 people there that have the willingness to get app and help you, they act like they don't want to be disturbed. And then they rotate Around, and when it's time to go to the main desk, if you're sitting at a certain computer, you can't see them up there because they're salt done, they're trying to hide away from the company from the people seeing that they don't have to help you, this is more than ridiculous, get off your dairy air and help people that need the help. If I need the help, then I wouldn't ask you for the help, this is totally ridiculous and it needs to be some type of System implement it, like maybe they need to put some lights and where you don't have to constantly get app, you can press the light, it'll light app saying you need help and then it could monitor them how many times people push the button for help and see who's gonna help you and who's not this is totally ridiculous. I've become so frustrated. I have an anxiety condition that you know, I have to break and get out and go to my car and then come back in and try to finish up it really needs to be something done about this. Even the manager of the library, he isn't so helpful. He gets frustrated insulin that sets me off with my frustration. You're there to do a job, do it? I'\nM not talking about all of the staff being bad as I've mentioned before, but most of them, they become attached to their chair are they just sit there and look at you?Well , maybe it's this , maybe it's that no , maybe perhaps if you get up and come see what i'm talking about , you can give me the assistance that I need , it would be great appreciated
