"1 pepperoni slice, 1 cheese slice, & a poutine," I said. "No problem," he replied. Our total came out to $12.60. We wait about 6 minutes for our food to arrive. I'm excited because it was recommended by a close friend. He raved about the poutine and how the neighbourhood recognized it as being the best. We received our food and thanked the kind man. I didn't have a chance to take a look at the food until we drove home. Greeted by an enormous slice of pizza, the size of both my palms and more. Disappointedly, it looks like a mess - the cheese was stuck on the parchment paper and left greasy stains. It wasn't served on your typical paper plate. It was difficult to maneuver the pie every time you dig in. Let's dive right into the taste test. I take a bite and easily distinguish the well cooked crust. A nice soft crispy crunch. The marinara was similar to Pizza Pizza style, so nothing special to note. I can probably say the same with the cheese. The pepperoni is where this pizza made its debut, it's thin but packed with flavours; spicy, peppery, and slightly smoked. In my opinion, the pizza is okay but the value is great. Okay, now we are reviewing the poutine. If you live around this area, you probably had this style before. The fries were coated in hot gravy and wrapped around by soft gooey cheese. Some of the fries were soft and crispy, accompanied by a light and savory gravy. The cheese makes this burst into fireworks, it takes me back to my more youthful days. I can't seem to pin-point the flavours, but it works. Here's a couple of answers to potential questions you may have about the spot. Do they take tap? Yes, I used Apple Pay. Is there dipping sauce? Yes, they use Heinz brand dipping sauces. My final thoughts, I think it deserves a solid 3.5 rating. Quick and polite service. The pizza is average and the poutine is good. As I was about walk over to the drugstore, I saw an ad for Harvey's. I could get two hamburgers for $8. My first question: Where's Harvey's? I am obviously a non-resident of Richmond Hill. I looked over to my right. Harvey's was to the right of the drugstore, next to Subway. I don't frequent this plaza often. It was cool to see a standalone Harvey's. It felt rare to me. It wasn't a combo store with Swiss Chalet. It had no drive-thru. It was a pleasant change. I hadn't had lunch. It was the perfect place to grab a bite to eat. After I was done at Shoppers Drug Mart, I placed my items in my car and headed over to Harvey's. It's a spacious eatery. I liked it. There was a bit of a lineup to place an order. There were two older folks ahead of me. I liked how patient and kind the man at the cashier was with them. He answered all their questions. He was also so patient seeing the man count all his change before handing it over. This man at the order area was equally as nice to me. I took advantage of this $8 deal, getting one beef burger and one veggie burger. I also got a medium Diet Pepsi. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I then waited patiently for the burgers to be ready for their toppings. I had a woman help with them. I got lettuce, tomato and cucumber slices, garlic mayo, and relish on the first burger. I also wanted the same ingredients on the second burger and she remembered everything. I appreciated her memory recall. I thanked her for her help and wished her a great day. I saw a smile on her face. She seemed happy that I said a bit more than thanks. She reciprocated. I sat down at a table closest to the wall. I was facing the window. I then chowed down. Both burgers were so good. Harvey's does make a beautiful thing when it comes to burgers. The beef and veggie patties were charbroiled perfectly. The beef was yummy, along with the toppings. I like the veggie burger at Harvey's. It's a good veggie patty that doesn't taste like cardboard. It's done well that both vegans and carnivores alike crave it because it's genuinely delicious. My Diet Pepsi was cold and yummy. It hit the spot while helping to wash everything down. This eatery was clean and inviting. There was a TV showing CP24. I wasn't facing it while I dined in. So back in the 90's, I used to frequent the very first, ORIGINAL Harvey's location at Yonge and Observatory Lane. That was when Harvey's was at its peak so to speak. I would order a burger, onion rings and get some Church's chicken too (which is super underrated btw). Anyways, somewhere around 2010, Cara Operations (the parent company of Harvey's) started tampering w/ the burger patty recipe because it tasted VERY different. Almost as if there was soy protein added or something. Fast forward, to 2013 to 2014-ish the angus burger was unveiled and after trying that I've never looked back. A lot of ppl (including my parents) tell me they can't taste the difference between the classic burger and the angus. But it's very apparent. The angus burger meat is WAY beefier, WAY juicier and doesn't have that "soy" aftertaste to it. Whenever I see an angus meal deal pop up on my Flipp mobile app, I'm usually jumping on it because at this location the service is great (no attitude given if I want to overload my burger w/ toppings and sauce) and the food is prepared well (fries and onion rings are always crispy). However, this store have got the best service and the best employees that can make sure you're happy to eat and finish what you order, because they always provides a great service and creates a great atmosphere that you feels comfortable to eat at the moment. It's $8.99 before taxes through the Harvey's app. I placed this order for takeout: - Angus burger on a multigrain bun - Onion rings - Regular Diet Pepsi I got an estimated time of fifteen minutes. There were places to sit down and eat on either side of the doors. Ahead of me on the right was the fountain machine and a door to the washrooms. On my left, I saw a sign for order pickups. Just what I was looking for! There was a cheerful young woman who greeted me there. I let her know that I had an order and said my first name. She nodded and happily handed over my drink and a bag of food. I loved that my drink had my name on the lid. I thanked her. I then headed to a free table to sit down and have a late lunch. That's the catch with taking advantage of coupons. You either order for delivery or takeout through the app. You can't visit your local Harvey's and show the deal as you are placing the order in-person. It's weird. I'm happy that I can order takeout in advance and then dine in. You simply don't have a tray. The experience is the same. I love the angus burger at Harvey's. It's yummy, especially with the garlic mayo and fresh veggies in my burger. I got onion rings as my side. They were crispy. The onions were naturally sweet. Delicious! I was happy with my Diet Pepsi. It had ice in it and hit the spot on a hot day. Before I left, I did a refill. I also used the washroom. It was a single stall that I used was clean. I liked the ledge in this stall on which I could place my drink. So handy! This Harvey's restaurant is one of the decent ones that I have been to. The food and drink were excellent.
