On May, 17th, 2026 a tornado took the roof off of my 78 year old veteren brother-in-law's Ken's home in the Pierson, Iowa area. Then it rained for 12 hours, resulting in extensive water damage and eventually mold set in due to the extreme heat. Ken has also been fighting cancer for 14 years, and he's been displaced ever since his home was damaged. To make a long story short, while looking for a good restaurant to eat at, we stumbled upon Harvey's on Military road in Sioux City, and I'm glad that we did! The place was super clean, they give you HUGE portions, and talk about fast and friendly service! Not only was our waitress Cayla super nice, so was the cook, Cody. And come to find out, they're twins! I have twins in my family, and when Cayla had a few minutes to spare, she approached our table, and we chatted briefly about multiples, as well as what brought us to Harvey's that particular day. So, as far as Ken and I are concerned, Harvey's is at the top of our list! Their food is delicious, and the staff is super friendly! So for those of you reading this review, whenever you're in the Military Road area in Sioux City, and you're hungry, stop at Harvey's restaurant, and you won't be dissapointed! Very old school vibe this place has been around for quite a while. I haven't been here for a few years, but it has that diner feel I got a patty melt and onion rings and they were pretty good and I was definitely satisfied. My parents got a giant salad and biscuits and gravy, and we both took something home. The service was really good too, and the waitress vet was very attentive. read more

We waited on 3/19 for an hour and still didn't have our food. The waitress was very frazzled and not very kind. Please get the kitchen in order. Ticket times should not be an hour. It was hardly THAT busy. Can't give a review on food because we ended up leaving. Boo. read more

My second time being here last week, my first was on a Saturday, second time was on Sunday morning this place is amazing! My boyfriend loves eating here for breakfast! The waitress even recognized us from that first time on Saturday morning! Loud, but the place is still worth the trip to Riverside to eat lunch, breakfast, or whatever else! The menu is pretty simple, but definitely delicious, cheap & affordable too!! Good for the budget!! Will be looking forward to coming back this weekend for some delicious food again!! I can't believe it's taken me this long to eat here! This restaurant has been a Riverside staple for YEARS! It's my brother and his girlfriend's favorite breakfast place. My husband used to frequent this place a lot in the early 2000's. We went for breakfast around 9:30am on a Saturday. It was busy, but not packed enough that required us to wait to be seated. Our waitress was a very fun, attentive woman. She only forgot to bring me peanut butter, but she kept my coffee mug full! I got a simple cheese omelette and a pancake. The omelette was gooey and great, tho I did have to add salt & pepper. My husband got the chicken fried steak. He said it was warm & crispy, but really lacked flavor. We both got a pancake and they're of course huge! Both had a little too much butter on top, but they were super yummy. I ate almost the whole thing. Prices are great! And my coffee was wonderful! We'll be going back, soon. Parking lot is tiny; beware if you have a big truck like us. Bathroom are fine. Place has a 'I'm eating at Grandma's house' vibe. Everyone was crazy friendly. read more

It's a small town cafe, with very good food, at reasonable prices. The negative reviews on here have to be from people that just like to complain about everything. The service can be hit or miss anywhere. We have never experienced a problem there. read more

The Hot Beef sandwich is phenomenal! The breakfasts are excellent. The booths are worn and I hope the restaurant owner will replace different ones. The booths are like sitting on boards, the padding is broken down and smell. read more

We love this place and stop every time we pass it.(we are from St. Louis). It's a home town dinner at its finest. The gyros and pancakes never disappoint. My husband loves their post roast specials. Never ever go back to that place. My husband order a breakfast plate and only got one egg on it, when it said three eggs and it was bland. I order sausage and gravy and my biscuits were not done. Only thing that was good was the bacon. read more

My father-in-law took us here when we stopped into town and the food was a delight! The fries are battered golden and perfectly slight crisp and tasty. I had the Greek gyro and it was the best one I've had in a long time! Fried bread with tons of cucumber sauce made it delicious! We got one slice of Oreo pie to share between four people and I ended up buying two more slices to go because I wanted my own. Great place to eat! read more

If I could give a NEGATIVE on stars i would. Went in for lunch today Aug 13 and ordered a Reuben Sandwich with no sourkrauht and cook made it with sourkrauht and would not fix. We were close enough to window listing to cook tell the waitress he did not care what customer ordered and told waitress to scrape off sourkrauht and serve it. Great way to run your business. The wait staff was friendly. Kept my coffee cup filled. Prices were low. Now the bad....I had the pancakes. They were huge. They were also tasteless and room temp. The could at least been hot. There were very few customers. The coffee was very weak , too. I thought that I had mistakenly been given tea but it was very watered down coffee. If the staff hadn't been so nice I would probably had said something about my meal but I figured that I wouldn't be returning so it wasn't worth hurt feelings. read more

How this restaurant has a four star rating is beyond me. My mother and I came to have breakfast and I wished we never had. The omelette had processed cheese in it and well for the cost of just the omelette it wasn't worth the $7.99 we paid for it. That omelette sat in the pit of my stomach the whole day. I used to visit this place often when I lived in Southeastern South Dakota. The one thing I really miss is the gyro platter. A gyro so large you can't pick it up, with a heaping serving of meat (cooked on the authentic spinning gyro meat contraption) and plenty of tzatziki. Plus a heap of french fries (this is the Midwest, after all.) I haven't found anything to compare anywhere else. Sunday evening and not much too choose from in area other than fast food. They were still open so we went in. What a great choice. The outside not much to look at, almost drove by. We ordered the fried whole catfish. Moist on inside and good and crunchy on outside. Not overly battered. Open face roast beef sandwich also very good. Gravy was great, homemade from the roast juices. Not the shiny dark brown instant stuff. Would definitely go back if ever in the area read more

This is your typical greasy spoon. I've only been there for breakfast. They have large servings for low prices and the food is pretty decent. It's a good place to meet friends for one of those weekly get togethers. read more
