Customer service is appalling. Rude people to talk to on the phone. I think they do good work but they need to work out the time it takes to get your lawnmower back. Not sure I will use them again next year. read more

HSE had a great customer service attitude and quality repair performance and I can unequivocally state that this environment has continued with the "new" Saint Louis Equipment Team at St Charles. I recently (August) took my riding lawnmower there for a carburetor replacement (including fuel lines and filters) along with a tire change out. They were quick and efficient but more importantly, provided quality workmanship. After all, no matter the cost, if it doesn't continue to run long after the repair, then it wasn't done right. Took my snow blower to get fixed. Was told it will be 6 weeks. After 6 weeks I called and they haven't gotten to it. Canceled my order and said I will pick up. When I get there customer service could not get me my money in cash like I gave to them. Told me that they "would not want me back". When I pick up my snow blower it's torn apart. Talk to the boss and he told me that it would be $40 to rebuild. When I informed him that I cancelled the order all he said "sorry" didn't get the message. After confronting him about this being bad customer service, instead of fixing the problem he just shrugged his shoulders. Horrible place. Definitely do not recommend. read more

I took my mower into this location to take advantage of a $65.00 spring tuneup on my mower. I bought it 3 years ago and only cut the grass twice so it was like new. 6 weeks after dropping it off they called and told me it would cost $280.00 to service my mower because I needed a new battery and my carburetor needed to be rebuilt. They obviously did not look at one thing because I declined them servicing my mower and took it to another shop in St. Peter's and told them my mower would not start. Within 15 minutes they determined it was getting fuel and pulled off a hose that went to the carburetor and found it was plugged. They blew the line out, put it back on, pulled the cord once and the mower started like new. $25.00 charge is all. This place got a $45.00 fee from me that just went right into their wallet. Don't ever take anything here. Oh just for the record the battery was fine too. Crooks. read more

Last summer I bought a Toro zero turn with a steering wheel here and after reading all the horror stories on Toro and Mower's Direct's websites I was worried. Well all those horror stories were mostly from Home Depot or Mowers Direct about problems with assembly, parts etc. I picked mine up assembled after 2 test drives and no problems since. it has cut my mowing time in half as I can now cut my hill with the ztr instead of by hand or weed eater. I bought from owner himself and must say I was treated great. This is third mower I have bought there in the last 30+ years and no problems. Pretty hard to beat a licensed dealer. read more

I will never use this place again and will NOT refer anyone there. Promised me TEN days to fix lawn mower and it took almost TWICE AS LONG!! Cost more than they quoted and still made a mistake on my bill. It seemed like the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing in this place. I would receive a call one minute and five minutes later receive another call from someone else. They even called after many, many days and asked if I wanted my mower fixed and when I said yes, they said okay that it was already fixed. What if I would have said NO? Would they "un-fix" it? I will never go to this place again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. They will make you pay just for an estimate, then over charge you when the work is completed. They will do unnecessary repairs to intentionally increase your bill, instead of only what is required and they do not care about saving the customer money. Talking to the management will do you no good. They were 30% higher than the estimate. I brought in a new piece of equipment that I store indoors. It was left out in the rain, and when I picked it up there was water all over it and the gas tank. It looked worse than when I took it in. The repair was quoted as taking 10 days, but instead it took 19 days to fix. They will gouge you, do not go to Harvester small engine if you want to be treated in a professional manner. read more

At the beginning of January, I dropped off a mower for repair and it took a month for them to even look at it. Claimed snowblowers put them behind, but no communication. Charged $100 deposit to give an estimate. Appears the recommended repair was just replace enough parts to cover any issues, which included installing new spindles which had been replaced 3 months prior. It appears replacing parts and charging $100 up front is easier than assessing what truly needs to be done. Owner was not very friendly and agreed that some of the parts were only "recommendations" to put the mower back in "new" condition. This is my one and only experience at this vendor, but wouldn't recommend. read more

Just Terrible attitude at the service desk. I go up there to have a chainsaw starter fixed and to buy a new mower, and after telling that to Jerry at the service counter, he was still just an A*s. Really? I'm here ready to spend $400 on a new Honda mower, plus repairs to chain saw, and you still can't say anything nice at all. You get a grunt and "what do you want kind" of attitude. Well excuse me! I'll go to Home Depot and pick up the same mower, which is seriously a shame because I love places like this. Real down home, American made kind of place. But not if I have to talk to someone that rude. If you go, ask for Jack. He was very nice and helpful. But I'm not going up there again if I can help it. read more

Bought a new Stihl chainsaw from them 2 years ago. They assembled and prepped the saw for use. Took it home to use and, after extremely poor performance, realized that the chain had been installed backwards (seriously?). I reversed the chain and the saw worked fine. This year I had my ridiing mower in for tune-up and routine servicing. After 4 weeks and $250 later, they returned my mower. The first time I started it smoke billowed out and oil dripped under the engine. Turns out the valve cover wasn't sealed properly. No apologies or offer of compensation. In this case, strike two means they're out - I won't be back! read more

Been going to them for the last 6 years. They carry all types of mowers and service them as well. They do a nice job at a reasonable price. Just had my mower in for their winter maintenance special and it runs much better. They even tie up in a baggie your old filter and spark plug which is a nice touch. read more

Best of the best. Matt in sales helped me 10 years ago by advising me on what equipment I would need to start a lawn service. He based his advice on the amount, size, and gate widths of the yards I was planning to cut. Also conscience to the hours of use in a summer that the equipment would be put to, he showed me price ranges verses durability and had the most exstensive knowledge of anyone I had previously talked to. Dale the service manager needs to learn manners and customer service skills. I took my mower to be serviced last fall at the end of the season and did not use it again until this season when I discovered the cable to release the engaged blade was damaged. I have NEVER had an issue with this until they worked on my mower so the damage occurred in their care. Dale was not only disrespectful in his interaction with me, he likened my mower to a "car losing its muffler after an oil change". I do not fold the handles for transport so the only time the damage could have occurred was while at this shop. SO, not only did he refuse to fix their mistake, he condescendingly insisted that I could not prove it was their fault. I am aware that the business has an opportunity to respond to this complaint, but my advice to anyone reading this is to take your business elsewhere if you want to be treated with respect and like the paying customer you are. read more
