The worst school for kids with special needs. The staff are not trained to work with kids with…read moreAutism. My child was abused by a staff member and DCF had to open a case to get them to address it. Please don't send your child here. You will regret it.

This school is PERFECT for my son! He's starting his 3rd year there & LOVES it! He's never liked…read moreschool before & even went to the best elementary school. The small class sizes, individual attention and no assigned homework has made a HUGE difference in our family life. On the rare occasion he doesn't finish his work at school because of a doctor/dentist appointment, he comes home & immediately completes his work. He NEVER cared about his schoolwork & homework was ALWAYS a struggle until he started at Center Academy at St. John's Bluff. I am so thankful to have options such as this school because some kids just don't do well at large public schools and need different accommodations that other schools can't offer. Plus we have NEVER had a bullying issue or anything even close to that. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Center Academy if your child has unique needs.

After spending time in the public school system since Pre-K, along with a stint at a private school…read morewhich has since closed, my twin sons, now 22 years old, began attending Greenwood in the 6th grade. Both of my sons had completed an assessment for admission to Greenwood a couple of years prior, but did not meet the requirements at that time. I was disappointed, because I'd heard great things about Greenwood. Alas, Greenwood knew what they were doing. My boys just weren't ready yet. That's the kind of caring you will find at Greenwood! Any school could enroll students just to fill seats. But the head of school (Mrs Connell, now retired) at the time knew my sons would be in over their heads if they started Greenwood when we first applied. My mother was a teacher. So I've always been acutely aware of what teachers do and have nothing but respect for teachers! I certainly appreciate and wanted a good education for my sons, but trying to find and finance it as a single Mom was not easy. One day, though, the stars aligned, my boys were accepted at Greenwood, and with the help of the McKay Scholarship and financial aid through the generosity of others, my children were where they needed to be, to be their best. Of course, not every student will be a perfect fit at every school. But if your child has an IEP, has learning differences and could benefit from educators who understand that; as well as smaller class sizes - I urge you to check out Greenwood. I will forever be grateful to the faculty & staff at Greenwood... For treating my sons as individuals...for providing an optimum environment...for helping them grow in numerous aspects. I could go on! Greenwood is much more than just a private school. There is a difference at Greenwood. If you are searching for a positive change and a better situation for your child, please consider Greenwood.

The classes are small. The curriculum is challenging. I'm very pleased with their new Principal. Their Music program is the best. It is a bit pricey... but worth it. Recommend!

My now 15 year old daughter attended Landmark for all 3 years of middle school, and my youngest…read morechild is in the 7th grade. Like many schools in Duval, the staff and teachers struggle with a large census of children. Its hard to provide quality with a quantity of I think 1800 students this year and slightly less as many in the years previous. I believe the education provided by teaching staff is decent to good and the school feels safe to me. Yes there are fights, but consider the population vs amount of fights. The hallways are monitorted well and alot of thought is placed into the structure/dynamics of the crowd flow. All this being said, if you were to judge the school by the attitude of the front office, the school would recieve an F. I know that the front office of every school has to deal with alot of frustrated parents and children,.. but that is the stipulation of any customer service job. Voice inflection is venomous, they cut you off mid sentence, and are frequently confrontational. I work in a hospital as a nurse, and if I treated patients the way parents and children are treated by thier front office, I wouldnt last a week.

im currently in this school but im going out for a trip thankfully. Im gonna explain this school on…read morehow this is widely considered the terriblest school ever ive been to. 1. Experiment i have been in this school for 2 years now im in 7th grade. and it has been HELL in here, none of the staff does anything for you. none of the teachers does anything for you. nobody does anything. and 2. Being a Bus rider if youre a bus rider. oh boy, some bus drivers are acting like you are playing music to loud and will loudly ask you to turn down the volume like abuelita from coco. is really annoying, and sometimes they always make a stop just to make a kid move to another seat, or is because somebody is screaming or talking to loud. 3. Bathrooms another thing is the bathroom, is genuinely super disgusting. somebody placed like 100 napkins in the stalls or toilet, and somebody threw a trashcan in the toilet. Some people fight, Some people just piss around the floor or around the toilet seat making them not able to seat perfectly. and another thing is the teachers not letting you GO TO THE BATHROOM. when you ask them can you go to the bathroom is either required with a hall pass (which is stupid) or they just decline forcing you to wait for 50 minutes straight just to go to the bathroom. and some of them are such jackass that they just ask you "why didnt you go during transition" because people in their are always weird that they either take a picture of you. or just straight come in the stall to see you peeing. 4. Teachers and staffs. This is gonna be a long paragraph. The teachers are SO ANNOYING. They are horribly rude or they just dont teach at all. And when you get confused on a question and ask for help they dont even care or they re-read the same question saying "read the questions carefully" like what??? that doesnt do anything, some teachers are nice like Ms. Matter, and Ms. Seymour. (for me) theyre both my favorite teachers. Staffs doesnt care about this school at this point. Pretty sure this is the worst school of my life, The dean doesnt care on what happened to you (Example: getting touched innaporptialy, getting beaten up, or getting threaten) i remember one of the deans said that if you get touched innaporptialy its your fault. and when you make a statement and give it to them they just dont read. they just pretty much ignore it and wont care much about it. The staffs are so disrespectful, they either scream at you, or just straight up pull you or grab you forcefully leaving a big mark or something. A kid wanted to fight me, My mom reported it to the dean and guess what he did? NOTHING, and is not even shocking because he was acting like he couldnt hear my mom at all because of the announcments. One more thing thats super important is that they say "We care about your mental health!" Thats not true. I had therapy in 6th grade because of me wanting to kill myself because of this school. My therapist actually helped me so well that my suicidal thoughts went away. And someone told me that the health teacher said "being skinny is good and drugs are bad" or something like that. as somebody whos skinny that pissed me off. 5. What do i do after reading all that? Do NOT bring your child to this school. Even Kernan Middle school is Better than this. (I dont mean by bring them to kernan. just find a different school with good reviews) and If you want your children to have suicidal thoughts, get into bunch of fights, have staffs or teachers to scream at them for no reason, and make them fail grades. This is the perfect school, Heavily not recommended for healthy kids.
