It Mother's Day in May so I want to treat myself, wow it was amazing Vivien hands are gentle, her massage really trigger every strand of my hair. Between the sound of the water and the perfect pressure to my scalp from the massage therapist, it was pure bliss. I was so relaxed I dozed off several times, and I think I drooled once lol! Haru Head K-Spa is such a unique experience in San Diego! Since the moment I walked-in, I felt immediately positive energy and super calm ambiance! My technician Ray started with scalp analysis and she noticed I had some build up, so she prepared the perfect treatment to properly clean up my head! We then moved into another area where I relaxed on a heated massage bed that slowly lifted my legs, creating an incredibly calming experience from the very beginning. The treatment included a facial, décolleté and arm massage, exfoliation, and soothing hot stone therapy. After this amazing moment we moved back on the chair where they continued to the scalp treatment using a massager and a blu and red light therapy. My scalp never felt so clean! The ladies here are friendly but with their steep prices, I wished they spent more time education us. The massage chair was very nice & the head massage/shampoo felt great. However, when we got to the chair, it was just okay. The magnified scalp imaging was quick & when I had asked about different products they recommended for what they saw, it seemed like they did not know much. I will begin with the cost...it is OVERPRICED! They are the monopoly in town and they know it. You can get the same treatment in LA for half the cost. The hair washing chair is not designed for folks with back problems. There are ways around it but you won't get the full massage experience. Only reasons I didn't give 5 stars. HOWEVER, the experience is AMAZING! The staff is genuinely friendly and dedicated to your experience being spectacular! The water is warm, the ambiance is quiet and soothing. They dry your hair only; no styling but they have 2 vanity stations where you can bring your own supplies and dryer to style your hair. I've gone twice now and had wonderful experiences. I came here for Mother's Day for the K-dream and was helped by Ivonne T. She was very nice and my scalp, hair and face feel AMAZING, but the experience wasn't quite what I had expected from reviews etc. The place is cute but the vibe felt a bit odd to me. The space is open like a hair salon and so you and the other customers are all kind of together, which is good if you're with a group or friend but it was just me and then other groups. The cost is $250 but any Instagram code will get you $50 off. The experience is supposed to be 90 minutes but they also tell you to come early. I did, and ended up waiting about 15 minutes past the start of my appointment. The insulation isn't great so while we waited in the quiet waiting area we could hear the girls on the back talking and laughing til they came out. Ivonne was nice and explained about hair and scalp tips to address my hair thinning issues. The chairs are cool and the many treatments were interesting though the whole thing felt like it passed fairly quickly. It took less than an hour til I was back in the assessment chair and she did the final treatments and scan with the tea. I think the experience came closer to 70 minutes when I was done and it felt overall less professional and luxurious than I expected for the price. Overall I'm glad I tried it, but I would rather do a massage or facial at a more conventional spa. I am curious to try a Korean spa in LA though where there are more options. read more

My daughter got me a gift certificate here for my birthday. Booked a 90 minute appt and used an Instagram referral and received $50 off. Without it, a 90 minute massage would have been $250. Came here with a couple of my friends. Our appt was at 10 am. There were plenty of parking spots. But after our appt was done, the parking was full and cars waiting for people to leave. They start you out by giving you a towel to wrap around your upper body and a robe. They give you a basket to put your stuff in that you bring with you every where you go. Then they take you to a chair where they take a picture of your scalp. Then you go to a massage bed that is on the whole time you are getting your scalp massage. The massage was very good. I had Czarina and she was excellent. Her massages were the right pressure. She also gave me a mini facial and neck and arm massage. After that was over, they take you back to the same chair you were in initially and they do more scalp massage. They also offer you tea or champagne after. Overall it was an excellent experience. Skin looked amazing after and being a Korean spa, one of the components in the facial was snail slime, for lack of a better word. Worked great! Calm soothing atmosphere. They show you before and after photos of your scalp. Dry your hair but no styling. Lovely exotic Korean floral tea or champagne is offered. Take the tea! It's amazing. Then you are put into a massage chair and your hair is treated in a variety of ways. I wish they explained exactly each process more as it was performed. They work on your scalp for pretty long. It is not a gentle process - because they clean your scalp well. At the end they show you a before and after picture of your scalp. This was my first experience at a head spa and thought it was a perfect opportunity to treat myself. They are located in a shopping plaza on Mercury and at least there is a parking lot, however that area can get really crowded. They are on the second level and you kind of have to walk around the corner to get to the front door. Inside it is a nice spa environment with cute neon signs, foliage and waiting area. It actually was a little smaller than I imagined and could get quite loud if you have lots of people talking and/or blow drying hair, perhaps a wall between the front and back areas would be nice. Especially since the back area contains the massage/treatment beds. I came in for the K-Dream treatment and the service experience from beginning to end was great - they explained everything rather thoroughly. The whole process was super interesting to me, especially when they did the microscopic scalp screening where they show you "problem areas". I definitely felt pampered by the scalp treatment, massages and facial. There were so many that I couldn't count and probably because I was so relaxed. Another plus was the treatment bed gave you a full body massage. Lastly, they do an "after" scalp screening and you can see the difference! Another nice touch was the Korean flower tea. While they do blow dry your hair after, they really only do the scalp area and not the rest. I wish they were able to blow dry all the hair since it can be uncomfortable and cold walking around with mostly wet hair. To conclude, I also waited a week to write this review so I could include my observations during that time. My scalp actually feels cleaner, less itchy and no dandruff. I guess I will have to see about the hair growth but overall it was a pleasant experience and would probably return. read more

Additionally, while giving a hand massage, she did not apply the lotion evenly on my arms, which left white streaks all over. I had the best time at Haru Head spa when I came here couple months ago. The salon is SO clean, the staff are so nice, I truly felt relaxed which is so hard when life is moving so fast everyday. I didnt know much about scalp before this session too and it was very educational. My friend and I got the K Dream for $250. The tech was nice, and the place is clean and aesthetic. After checking in you are given a box with a robe. After changing you are guided to a chair. I felt like the scalp analysis was rushed but she took a quick picture to use as her "before photo". The massage chairs you lay in are ok. The head and neck massage was great. She was pretty rough with my hair but I'm not tender headed. If I was I'd probably be crying. I wish they'd tell you what they're putting on your face and scalp as they're doing it. The many tools they use on your scalp feel good until the end when she scrubbed my scalp and hair with something that felt like a boar brush, I could tell it was either ripping or gonna be seriously knotted. When she was done she walked me back to the chair for a quick blow dry and after photo. She had trouble finding a good after photo lol as my scalp still had stuff on it. She started to brush my hair and could not get an awful knot out. She said "do you typically get knotted hair" and i was like "Never" lol. You won't leave looking cute, as it's a very rough blow dry. Overall I probably won't go back due to the price. It's not worth $250, but I'd say maybe $100. read more

I am grateful that I gave Haru Head Spa another try after their soft opening. I had the pleasure of Christy being my aesthetician and she was very gentle with my scalp. She was well spoken and informed me of what everything was and what her tools did for my scalp. We examined my pictures of my scalp before and after and she was able to develop a treatment specifically for my needs before we got into the massage chair. She explained all this to me before the head spa began so I felt very much in good hands. My friend and I were excited to try a head spa for the first time. The experience was very relaxing, from the robes and the massage chair to the actual scalp cleaning. It was cool to see how much buildup was on the scalp. I was interested in a lot of the products they were using but as somebody in another review said, they don't really explain each step or let you know what's in anything so it isn't curated to your skin or hair types. For example, I asked what was in the buildup removing solution they used on my hair and the technician said she actually didn't know, but the owners made it. I have oily/dry skin but I don't know what products they used on my facial. Either way, my face and skin felt nice. I'm somebody who loves product recommendations so I asked my stylist what products she used herself. I was told that I'd probably have to come back in 6-8 weeks to get more of my scalp buildup off. My hair felt really good afterward, but I didn't get any aftercare instructions - I went straight to the beach and got a scalp sunburn! My friend and I got different bits and pieces from each of our stylists about caring for our hair to prevent further buildup. We also were offered hot tea or champagne. We paid for the 250.00 experience, and we enjoyed ourselves, but we also felt it was maybe a bit rushed. Overall, it was fun, but maybe just a one time thing here I think. I got the K-dream 90 min package. First they took really close up images of my scalp to customize the treatment to my needs. The images made me question my ability to clean my own head all these years...like wth have I been doing?! But once I got past the shock , I got the best head, face and neck massage/treatment of my life, all while sitting in a big fancy massage chair. Hot stones, cold masks, aromatherapy, gua sha, all of it...I got the works! After drying my hair, they completed my treatment with some light, electricity, and stimulating therapies before showing me my results...OMG such a big difference! My scalp not only looked healthier and moisturized, I could actually feel the difference. Even my face was glowing and I just felt so relaxed overall. I've seen head spas on my FYP and it looked like heaven. I sought to find some place in my area with good reviews and found Haru Head Spa. I called to see if there was any availability that day and I was in luck. When you walk in you are greeted to a small but nice and clean salon. I think they may do treatments in cycles, so others that you are with are completed at the same time. There was no one else during my appointment time, so I had the place practically to myself. That was super nice. You remove your upper clothing, so as not to get it wet, and you use one of their wraps and robes. They take pictures of your scalp to tailor your treatment to your concerns. This picture is done haphazardly and they capture the first thing they see (this is important to note for later). You then go to the treatment area and lay you down on flat massage chairs and your head in the "sink". The massage chair was very uncomfortable and hurt by back. I was anticipating more scalp massage and was disappointed that it was only a wash, the "treatment", then conditioner. The rest of the time it was a hand/arm massage, neck massage, and something on your face. Once done my hair was a rats nest and I'm glad I don't have a sensitive scalp because otherwise it would have hurt to be brushed with how rough she was. Now your hair is dried and some leave in conditioner added. They go back in to take pictures of your scalp to show how "much better it looks". They are quite discerning with these pictures and truthfully looked the same. This was an expensive service and was not worth it to me. read more

Hair washing was noisy and sloppy, leaving me feeling greasy. They do offer hair root analysis, which could help with hair loss concerns, but otherwise, it's overpriced and not worth it. This was my first time getting this service and I sought out a spot with great reviews. I would say that the concept isn't one for me. But that isn't because of the place. I think the entire head inspection is a little overplayed. My scalp was fine. It didn't have any issues. The service is a basic shampoo and then a large automatic chair massage machine. The lotions and potions that they put on your head they won't tell you what it is. Likely Olaplex or some other normal shampoo and conditioner. And it's not like one treatment is going to do something that is long lasting on the scalp. It's a pampering treatment. I would say to get a regular mashed and add a scalp massage with it or get a traditional Hamam Turkish treatment and it's pretty much the same but more lavish at a true spa. I won't do the treatment ever again because I didn't feel it was worth the money. I can wash my hair at home. And I can pay for a massage from an actual massage therapist. read more
