No cliques here. The owner greeted me immediately with a hug. It was about 7Pm and this place was packed. The bartender immediately asked what I wanted to drink and within a minute a tall glass was sitting in front of me. The chefs were working so hard fixing nonstop orders of fish, fries, burgers, and tater tots for the most part. They were moving like a conveyor belt with the orders. From the time I arrived, until I left, not one order was messed up. All the staff are pretty friendly and just awesome overall. Don't expect long conversations if you're looking for liquor paid psychiatrist work while Friday fish orders are being filled. I had the baked cod (was always my favorite) and the first time the walleye with the broccoli crunch and tater tots. Walleye reminds me of catfish. Omg, everything was a 100 out of a 10 to be honest. Coming out of a dive tavern, yes. Everything had the right crunch or the perfect flakiness. Loved it. Friday Fishfry is the bomb here in my opinion. It's kind of a typical bar and grill but has live music later in the evening, looked like volleyball and other stuff outside in the summer and do on. We sat at the bar at the first available seats. I have to say they were actually very padded and comfortable easy swivel on and off seats but kinda high for this "mature" non too tall gal to climb on. Next time it's a table for me thanks. So since it was Friday, officially fish fry day, that's what we both had. They have 4-5 different types of fish and it was a toss up between fried cod or sautéed Walleye. But again, it's fish FRY Friday so Fried battered cod it is. Lots of choices for sides too. I got fries and friend had potato pancakes. I tasted them and they were probably some of the best potato pancakes I've ever had. It came with rye bread and butter and coleslaw. As usual I could pass on the Cole slaw, and I thought the rye bread looked good but kinda unusual to me. Is that a Wisconsin thing? On to the fish. Great taste, moist, not overcooked and crispy batter. What more could you want. The fries were ok, and I appreciated they were not battered orange seasoned, just plain potatoes which is what I prefer. The bartenders were on top their game, efficient and friendly and busy as bees but knew when you'd like a refill of soda or another cocktail. This is a well deserved 5 star review if you're looking to have a traditional fish fry bar experience.
