We buy the spring decoration for my Mom's gravestone from them each spring. They design attractive memorial displays, even adding, for example, the little birds that I provided. The owner and staff show wonderful small-town hospitality, helping you find what you need. And at closing time they encourage you to stay as long as you need to.

We stopped by on a whim after visiting the Giant Pumpkin Festival because I haven't been to a dime store since I was a kid. They have much of what I remember from the old Ben Franklin chain - craft supplies, cheapo toys, candy, and random everyday goods. However, unlike my childhood memories, many things were crazy overpriced. A bag of plastic army men? Nine dollars. Yep. Small bunches of plastic flowers were in the $5-12 range. There were some great steals (all greeting cards were $1), but most purchases just weren't practical. Many items in the pharmacy were either expired or just about to and items were very random. I'm not familiar enough with Nekoosa to know if there are other alternatives or if this is where to get random items but it's not a bad stop on a lark. If you don't have anything in mind you might stumble across a great find, but if you have a particular mission you might come up short.

Unique bird feeders, low-priced high quality (grain free) cat food, healthy dog food, a multitude…read moreof pet toys, really cool lawn ornaments, etc..... if your looking for that perfect something, this place is great and the prices are very competitive for what you are getting. Any bird seed I've bought from here was always of high quality. No little bugs or shriveled up peanuts from here. We have been getting our dry cat food from here now exclusively. PetCo couldn't compete in price for the quality we are getting here. We figure that by buying better cat food we save on not having to take our cats to the vet for problems so the better food here saves us money in the long run. Try even finding a dry cat food at PetCo with no grain in it. One would think that since cats never eat grain in the wild it should be easy to find a grain free cat food, but that is where Jay Mar comes to the rescue. They also have some cat hair ball gel with catnip in it that our long haired cat loves. Any of the other hairball gel the cat hated and would only eat it if you rubbed it on her paw. I went through this rambling about our cats to show that if it's your cat, dog, lawn, garden, or birds that your trying to find just the right thing for, then try here. The workers are very knowledgeable and helpful too, yet they are very respectful to just let you just look around without being pestering if that is what you want.

Decided to get a random assortment of clothes, mostly onesies, sleepers, and swaddles. I was really impressed with my visit! Everything was clean and in great condition, and snagged a few items that were still brand new. Prices were very reasonable--onesies were a dollar and sleepers were 2-3. Got a huge bag for my $20, when that would have covered just a few new items at a retail store. Also really appreciated the selection of non-pink-or-blue items, everything I got was beautiful orange, green, yellow, red, which aren't the easiest to find for baby clothes!
