The amazing bakeries are one of the main reasons why I absolutely love London. Hart & Lova is no exception. Their passion fruit cheesecake is one of the best I've had! It's extremely light yet creamy and flavourful. The texture is soft like pudding (which is surprising for a cheesecake) but it works so well. Would definitely be back to try other desserts! The owner mentioned how extraordinary their coffee is - would take their word and try it next time.

What a lovely pain au chocolate.

Looking for tasty breads and sweet bites with a nice cup of coffee in Kilburn? You definitely want to go to Hart & Lova Bakery. So far, Kilburn was not the place where I considered going to buy artisan bread or drink a decent cup of coffee. Now, after I've realised that Hart & Lova Bakery opened on Belsize Road, just a minute from the Kilburn High Road Overground station, this might change. I wonder what took me so long to discover this place. The shop is beautiful and light with a warm atmosphere. The wooden tables just add to the cosyness. The staff are very friendly and helpful when, like me, you cannot always decide instantly which of the things you would probably like most. The simple answer might be, that you should come often enough and try it all. It's also great to see that the actual baker is present in the shop. I really enjoyed my pain au chocolate. It tasted lovely and everything about it was just right. However, I must admit that I was a little bit disappointed by the raspberry fudge, as I had been hoping for a stronger raspberry flavour. Hart & Lova Bakery uses Monmouth coffee, a good choice, and my flat white looked beautiful. Unfortunately, I thought it was not quite strong enough, it seemed somewhere between a flat white and a latte. Still perhaps the best in the area. Hart & Lova Bakery should surely be one of the most delicious bakeries in Kilburn. While not everything is absolutely perfect, I am more than happy to go there again and check out some of their other sweet delights and savoury breads.

Great bread, sandwiches and cakes. Visited here for the 3 straight days while staying close by.

Best coffee I had drank recently ( I had a latte). Bakeries are perfectly buttery. Very comfortable sitting inside.

In fact, I would have missed Amorino except for others in my group were not amused by a Pub with a namesake associated with a sensitive body piercing. Plus, they are gelato fanatics so this place pulled them in like a moth to flame. It is a clean, well-run shop with plenty of flavors available. The display case was quite appealing, especially the written descriptions of the flavors. There is always at least 1 lactose free option as well (on the day we were there, it was Chocolate Sorbetto) and they are very hip to give you test samples before you make a decision which is a very friendly touch in favor of the customer. While this might seem to be the norm, this shop is also in a high tourist-traffic area and I would imagine that putting up with idiots on vacation all day long might get old pretty quick. Nevertheless, they seemed very welcoming and happy to serve us which is always nice to experience as a consumer. I did not sample the goods since I was wasting my calories this trip on pub suds instead of gelato. But those in my group that did partake are somewhat authoritarian experts in the craft of frozen, dairy-based desserts. And they proclaimed it to be on par with typical European style gelato. Nothing more and nothing less and it scratched the itch of a palate in need of a gelato fix. It was not cheap but nothing in the UK is. If you are in the area and in the mood, I think you can't go wrong with a stop at Amorino for a taste of good-quality gelato.

The Orangery - Afternoon tea (1 serving)

02/2026 Just a quick…read morenote upfront: there are several places around the UK (and beyond) called "The Orangery" - from restaurants in hotels to other historic venues - but none of them are affiliated with each other. This review is specifically for the historic one at Kensington Palace, the beautiful baroque building in the palace gardens. I recently had the pleasure of enjoying afternoon tea here, and it was everything I hoped for and more - a perfect blend of elegance, history, and warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, our host Denis made us feel incredibly welcome. First and foremost, I have to say he has a great first name - it's the same as mine (Dennis/Denis), which gave us an instant connection and a good laugh! He was exceptionally accommodating, giving us plenty of choice over where to sit and checking in on us multiple times throughout the afternoon with genuine friendliness and care. His attention to detail really elevated the whole experience. Our waiter, Mustafa, was nothing short of amazing. He handled our dietary needs with ease - accommodating gluten-free and vegetarian options without any fuss - and even split the afternoon tea accordingly so we could both enjoy it fully. The food itself was lovely, but the standout for me was the tea selection. I tried several varieties: peppermint, masala chai, vanilla chai, and classic English breakfast. The staff were happy to bring different teas or extra hot water whenever we asked, and don't forget to add sugar and milk for that perfect personal touch - it made all the difference. The setting is stunning, with the historic Orangery building and views of the Kensington Palace gardens creating a truly relaxing and regal atmosphere. Every moment felt unhurried and enjoyable; it was the ideal way to spend a peaceful afternoon. Huge thanks to Denis and Mustafa for their outstanding service - they made what could have been a standard tea into something truly memorable. Highly recommend booking ahead (it's popular!), and if you get the chance, ask for these two legends. We'll definitely be back!

We thought The Orangery would be the ideal spot as it sits right by the Kensington Palace. My group made reservations, which are encouraged. When we arrived there were ample seats both inside and outside. The interior is white, simple, clean, and bright. A bit bleak on the eye. We chose to sit outside to get some sun, people watch, and enjoy being by the gardens. All of the staff took great care of us, checked on my dietary restrictions, came by numerous times, and were kind and courteous. Now for the afternoon tea, we got the Afternoon Tea and the Vegan Afternoon Tea. I am dairy free so the vegan one was for me, but I eat certain meats so we did share and sample each other's. To start, the presentation was fine, nothing spectacular. The portions were plentiful as I could only eat the finger sandwiches and half of one scone, I saved the rest. I only expected more but found all of the sandwiches to be pretty neutral. I wish there were more seasoning, filling, and the bread wasn't as dry as it was. The scone was good with the provided preserves. When I did have the sweets they were all good, the fruit ones being my favorite. For tea, I chose the Organic Darjeeling. It came out to about three cups and was light and delicate. We left full! Kensington Palace is iconic in itself. If you want to pretend you're a royal or are visiting the area, The Orangery is an option. Honestly, I wouldn't come for their tea as I thought it was just okay. I would recommend going somewhere else, but I'm glad to check this off my bucket list!

And at one point of time, Amazon was selling vouchers that brought the price down to 19Pounds. For TWO people. 10 finger sandwiches, 2 quiche, 4 scones, clotted cream, 2 pots of Bonne Mamman jam, 6 mini pastries and constant supply of tea - each person can choose a different tea if you like. It is a very good deal if you have people who just want to see what Afternoon Tea in London is all about. Plus they serve it until 7pm which is a huge bonus. For visiting friends who spend the whole day maximising time at museums and other sight seeing locations, this gives them a chance to experience Afternoon tea without compromising on time at the British Museum or the Tower of London. Their pastries are very good quality and the eclairs are always served just right, not frozen hunks of pastry with fresh cream (that cant even be reheated) I sometimes pick up a ham and cheese croissant and coffee to go and those have been very good too. Their problem area has been the hot meals, I've been served burnt toast and not so well made eggs on one of my first visits, so I've never risked a freshly cooked meal again at this location, which is why it lost a star in my rating. But I'd comfortably recommend them for Afternoon tea, pastries, croissants and coffee.
