Before choosing a locksmith I called to find out cost. I was told there would be a $29 service fee and the cost for lockout service was $45. Since this was consistent with what other companies had said, it seemed reasonable. I was given no other price estimate before work began. When I received the final bill it was $123. $29 service fee +$79 lockout service +$15 for drilling out the lock. Why there was a separate fee for one type of work staff of it being part of the lockout service fee I have no idea. I called the office to discuss the discrepancy between the fees I was told and the ones charged. The person I spoke to, who had not been part of the original conversation, insisted that the other person said minimum charge of $45 or starting at $45. That is not what was said. They offered no recourse for resolving the issue. TLDR, get the quote in writing or expect a huge overcharge.

Straight up refused to do the work for my wife, which I figured was run of the mill misogyny, but it turns out he's an equal opportunity jerk to anyone, giving me shit for saying "yeah" in agreement in conversation as he explained the process. Get bent, guy. In (undeserved) fairness to the owner, we were asking for a key fob replacement, with the identical fob in hand. In our case the existing fob was working so reprogramming the new fob took seconds thanks to some googling. When I asked if this guy could do it, he started the conversation with many excuses and trying to explain how hard it is before doing it. Don't bother, if you need a key fob go across town to Harry's Key Service on 117th. They've got high tech machines that copy the key part flawlessly. He doesn't have that machine. Harry's also have several very kind and informative employees and a much bigger shop, obviously because they are competent and not rude. The people at Harry's made it very clear that I am welcome to Google and try and do the fob programming myself to save money, or they can try it, or they can order a fob that's more reliable than the flimsy Amazon fob, and if none of those work it'll take an actual dealership unfortunately to get the thing to program. All this guy at Curly's needs to say is "no I don't do fobs, go to Harry's" if he's so incompetent for this specific service, but as the reviews going back nearly a decade show, he is not interested in doing business with anyone at all, especially you.
