If you need a quick good meal this is the place. We walked over from the Woolloomooloo hotel and enjoyed a curry beef pie. We skipped the mushy peas but should have ordered them If you eat on the benches beware of the birds not as bad as Hitchcock but they are well feed. Try the curry meat pie.

This place is an institution in Woolloomooloo. Had the Toger Pie with meat pie, mushy peas and mash n gravy and the Pastie n peas. The pastie n peas was a little dry but tasty, although a bit too much peas for my liking. The tiger pie was delicious and so good. The fries were excellent as well- very crispy. Would definitely recommend when in Sydney. Many other celebrities have visited as well with their pictures posted all over.

Another famous must try place !!! Been here forever and now they have multiple locations spread out in SYD. You can get any base meat pie and top it with tiger topping. Interesting mix of flavors w the peas, meat, gravy, and the crispy crust bottom. Try it !!

Food has unique flare. Served fast. No tables, has benches by the bay. Nice sea breeze while you enjoy your food.

On my last full day in Sydney, I ordered Harry's Cafe De Wheels takeaway (the Australian way to describe carryout) via Uber Eats! Harry's iconic pie cart is just footsteps from an Australian Woolloomooloo Navy Yard. It was found 86 years ago. Harry's Cafe De Wheels is known for an Australian delicacy .. the meat pie, particularly their dish known as the "Tiger Pie." The Tiger Pie is a meat pie topped with mashed potato and mushy peas. And gravy and its name affectionately after the founder Harry "Tiger" Edwards. What did I order? Chicken Pie (includes mushrooms in cream sauce) Tiger Pie (with a Beef Pie with chunks in black pepper gravy). I loved the chicken pie! It was so warm and filling. I didn't care for the beef chunks in the Tiger Eye Pie, but I love the smashed combo of potato and peas and gravy. Later, I had beef mince pie and enjoyed that a lot more. Harry's does offer other things besides savory pies - they also provide hot dogs (to appease to American military when they are stationed in the area), burgers, rolls, pastries, hot chips (french fries), and sweets. There are several locations within Sydney proper - Darling Quarter, Woolloomooloo, and Ultimo. Other locations include Baulkham Hills, Bligh Park, Greystanes, Kogarah, Liverpool, Marsden Park, Newcastle, Pennant Hills, Penrith, St Marys, Tempe, & Woodbine

A famous food truck / cafe serving iconic meat pies in the Woolloomooloo district of Sydney. We stopped by for a quick bite on a Monday around lunch time. Like a food truckk (although this place is stationary-more like a vendor booth at a fair or carnival) the menu consists of meat pies, pastiess (similar) and hot dogs. There are also chips (fries) and drinks for sale. We had heard from several people that we needed to try their meaat pies so I got the chicken and mushroom and my wife got tHe pepper beef. We also added a scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy on top. There's also the option to add smashed peas which with the potatoes and gravy is called tiger style. The pastry was crispy and the food piping hot. We stood at a bit of the counter and ate them with our sporks. Tasty and quite filling and an Australian institution.

great pie shop near the Royal botanical gardens for a lunch or a bite to share with friends. the tiger pie is a classic and peas and mash are not too heavy either which i was not expecting. i wish the crust of the pic was crispier but the pie was filled generously and the price is pretty affordable. service was very quick and they have a few seats around to sit at. overall i would recommend!

Pies smothered with mash, one with mushy peas, and gravy! Delish!

The pies! Oh my goodness! They are fantastic! You get a pie then can have mash, mushy peas, and gravy on top! Seriously good pies. So good, we went to the other Harry's at Darling Harbor the next day!

Glad I tried this well-known Sydney institution. For $7 Australian dollars, I ordered their renowned "The Tiger" which is a beef pie, with a slab of mashed potatoes, mushy peas, and gravy. The quality of the pie is very good and all of this comfort food just goes really well together. Very filling. Took me back to my trip in London. The meal was very satisfying, and I love that the cart is plastered with its history. So many famous people have eaten here -- including Mr. Bourdain, my hero, and my spirit incarnation if I was a 60 year old ex-chef/cocaine-head.

It's iconic and the rich and famous secretly making their way to Harry's for years. Hey, if it was good enough for Old Blue Eyes (Frank Sinatra), then it is certainly good enough for me. I rolled up to the counter and immediately ordered Harry's classic Tiger: tasty meat pie smothered in mash potatoes, mushy green peas, and warm gravy equals a Big Fat Yum!!! The decor, location, friendly staff, and food were all perfect. Eating my Tiger Pie reminded me of my childhood when I would play with my mash potatoes and peas before I decided to devour the whole lot. Again Yum!!! So with such good stuff why not 5 stars? Well, my pie was a bit messy, and I kind of wish that I had sometime of container to cage Harry's massive Tiger. However, this is really small potatoes (excuse the pun) when you get down to it, so I guess I have to say Harry's is closer to 4.5 stars than 4 stars. Yeah, writing this review makes me want to wear my Harry's Cafe T-Shirt. Yup, I even bought the shirt.

Tiger pie and ginger beer YAUMMY.

This place, to me, is a "must visit" for tourists if only because it has been a popular institution in Sydney for quite some time. also, call me biased, but this was one of my favorite meals in Australia because I love mashed potatoes and mashed anything. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tiger Pie and my accompanying ginger beer. The meat and pie crust were not the best, but the mashed peas and potatoes really hit the spot. I walked over from the Cathedral via the botanic gardens and thought I got lost a couple times. However, there are maps along the way within the gardens and so I was able to confirm that I was going the right way. It took me about half an hour to get there. After my pleasant meal overlooking the water, the employee directed me to a nearby bus stop which took me to Town Hall. It took another 30 minutes on the bus route to get to closer city attractions, but I got the chance to see more Sydney neighborhoods so I was not bothered.

The Pie everyone eats when they come to Sydney! It's worth the drive here. Luckily we came here on an unassuming Tuesday during summer and the lines weren't that crazy and we were able to find street parking easily across the street. There's a large variety of pies here but the most popular says famous in the title haha which we got. I opted for the gravy, mash and peas on top to get the full experience. We got two and it was way too much! They were relatively cheap for Aussie prices ($8 or so for the fully loaded pie). The pie comes just as you pay. It was warm and hearty. The beef inside was soft. Perfect amount of gravy taste with not overpowering salt. The crust was perfect. Mash and peas were a perfect compliment. Glad we visited this spot

This place is a bit iconic but the food was disappointing. We should've skipped it in our must-do list.

Actually, you know what I think the problem was? They'd just opened and I was the first customer of the day, they were still getting things ready, the oil was still warming up in the fryers, that kind if thing, as far as timing goes it probably wasn't the greatest but hey, I'd missed breakfast and didn't want to pass out for lack of food in my impending meeting. Got the German dog with a brat that looked like it had been heated up in mike maybe, like it didn't have that lovely glistening coating of oil that a freshly cooked sausage has, and it came with heaps of sweet & sour gherkins placed on top and the whole thing was just okay in a meh ort of way. The menu pictures of the spuds looked great. Next time, I guess.

Harbourside isn't really known for food, but more of a tourist trap (outside of Hurricane's and…read morePancakes On The Rocks) which is why Georgie's is a fresh and awesome addition to their culinary options there. I had the pleasure with speaking with the proprietors and finding more about the business and I see myself coming back very often...because it's delicious, affordable, and healthy depending on what you get. I mean, we got all the keywords here: Low GI & Low Carb, Organic Aussie-grown, and Gluten Free. Georgie's has been around for a while specialising in potatoes, but this is a new venture for them and I hope they take off. Georgie's is what you get if Mad Spuds Cafe and Snag Stand decided to have a baby...can you say tasty? They offer several flavours of spuds, where you can choose from a regular oven baked potato or a sweet baked potato, and then choose your butter (plain, garlic, or herb.) Spuds range from Meat Eater Deluxe, Hawaiian Chicken Spud, Smoked Salmon Spud, Spicy Vegetarian Spud and more. I didn't get to try these since I was craving snags, but I definitely will later. You can also create your own spud if you're feeling like a mad scientist. Their salads are similar to the spuds, minus the spud (duh.) Their snags have a lot more variety, ranging from Mexican, German, Chorizo, Beef & Horseradish, and more, most for under $10. You can also choose between an Artisan bun (standard) or a Brioche bun (sweeter.) I ordered the Kransky (BBQ Kransky, grilled bacon, BBQ caramelised onions, tasty cheese, roasted tomato, bell pepper relish) and Italian (BBQ Pork sausage, BBQ caramelised onions, roasted tomato & red bell pepper relish, tasty cheese, balsamic glaze & wild baby rocket.) As a bacon lover, the Kransky was awesome...the Italian was good too, but I'm completely sold on the Kransky. I gotta say, in comparison to Snag Stand you get way better bang for your buck here. The buns are larger and they pile on the toppings, much unlike Snag Stand, and you can get a side of chips & water for $4.90 more so you can save $2-3 in comparison. Speaking of chips, I didn't get to try theirs, but I imagine that they'll be good...though Snag Stand does have some awesome chips. Their drinks are also all organic, and you can get beer or wine if you like. I'll most definitely be back to try the rest of their menu. Be patient for now, as they just opened on Tuesday and their staff is still training but it's worth the wait.

Friend works in Surry Hills and saw people handing out flyers, so we made a note to check it out…read more I went on their FB page and it had this promo on it: "FEELING HUNGRY? Mention this Facebook post when requesting your free lunch. Stock's are limited so hurry." So we rock up today, showing them this promo and what do you know, they said they're not aware of this promotion even though it's advertised on their Facebook page. The cashier says she'll speak with the manager who then says they're sold out of free samples (bold faced lie) but will give us a free chilli dog as a favour. This place is great at building customer satisfaction eh? I decline the chilli dog, friend accepts and I order a El Cabrones, which is wagyu beef, lettuce, avocade, onion, bacon, chipotle sauce, and pickles...sounds promising right? This may have been one of the worst burgers I've had in my life. I couldn't even finish it. Those that know me know I have a high tolerance for food, especially burgers and will eat almost anything. It's a sad day when I DON'T want to finish something. If you're boasting about using wagyu for a burger, don't: 1) Overcook the meat. What's the point of a well done burger? 2) Abstain from seasoning said meat. There was no flavour in the burger 3) Use sourdough for a bun. What's with using super dry bread with super dry meat? I'm not a fan of sourdough on a burger, that's just not right. I suppose if you like Grill'd you would like this place (I hate Grill'd) They do offer 4 chips with each burger for free GREAT VALUE EVERYONE!!! The chilli dog tasted like cardboard coated with ketchup and mustard. Don't do this to yourselves. Don't go here unless you like punishing yourself for sins you may have done to others.
