This and you just don't get the mileage out of leather soles. Which means you keep needing to replace them as well as having wet feet which is expensive as well as damp. I've had this pair a few years and rarely wear them but they're very comfortable and so I thought I'd give them a new lease of life. I have also been thinking about switching a few pairs of my leather soled shoes to Dainite soles which are the regular non-leather alternative for a quality shoe. So I dropped them into James and got these Vibram soles put on. In a tasteful blue with cool detailing visible on the side, they look the part, they will wear much better than the previous rubber soles and they'll keep my feet dry too!

I once took a pair of new shoes in to see what could be done, as they were rubbing my feet, and the person at the counter was honest enough to tell me that it was due to the design of the shoe, anything they could sell me would just be wasting my money. Prices are a little on the higher side, but that's expected in Blackheath.

I think it's a family run business (there are definitely a few people there who look like they share the same gene pool, that's how I'm basing my guess here). They fitted the locks on my new house last year. They were efficient and really reasonably priced. If you live nearby, ie, in Surrey Quays, Canada Water, Rotherhithe, Bermondsey, there's a whole host of other stuff on offer in the shop like key cutting, shoe repairs etc. They fixed my very high heeled boot once immediately when I was on the move and the zip broke (=awesome) so I could carry on with my night and head out. They also cut keys, and it's cheap. Every set I've had made up works perfectly. You'd be "locky" to know these guys. Mwa ha ha....

I am more familiar with visiting the shop desperately hoping that he will be able to repair my knackered heels. I have never been disappointed. From all the handcrafted leather shoes and lasts displayed in the window, it is obvious that this is by no means just a normal shoe repair shop. DO NOT GET YOUR WATCH REPAIRED HERE…read more Tried to get a battery changed on a watch, and was told the watch needed a service for £200. Since it was still in warranty we declined and took the watch to an authorised repairer. The watch at that point had no battery in, and the coil was found to be broken, which can only happen by someone forcing the battery incorrectly. This cost us an extra £80 due to their incompetence and negligence. It was their mistake, but they tried to cover it up by requiring a £200 "service". They are incompetent and dishonest - had they owned up to the error we would have thought better of them.
