I was visiting London for business and needed to have a quick hem performed on my pants. I was told by a local that this was the place to go for a quick, inexpensive service, and went into Roya's with high expectations.
First impression as I walked in the door - the business was noticeably clean and tidy. A young man walked over to me and immediately introduced himself. He kept rambling on about his name and how it means yogurt or something, but I wasn't really following along.
As I was only in London for a short time, Roya's was able to accommodate me by performing my hem right on the spot. I was very impressed by their customer service, despite the tailor's oddities here and there. The actual alteration is where things took a poor turn.
The job should have taken only five minutes. When the tailor was finishing up the stitching on my pants, he somehow managed to catch a handkerchief in the machine - he said that he's a magician and that it was hanging out of his sleeve. What should have been a speedy alteration took much longer than expected.
Naturally, the tailor insisted I not pay due to the mishap. He explained that he was also a part time magician and that "these things happen." He even gave me his magician business card (he goes by Sempai the Stupendous, if you're curious). All in all, I had quite a positive experience at Roya's Tailors and would highly recommend them. read more
