This place runs on time, is welcoming, and the office is nice. I've been a patient of Dr. Cowlin's for a few years now and I think she's the bees knees. She has great "bedside manner," and the best part is, she is outstanding when it comes to giving a shot of Novocain. You won't even know you had a shot (until the numbing kicks in of course). Needless to say, I found a new dentist for my dad - one that actually picked up the phone the first time I called. Also, the lady that answered the phone at Harris Dentistry was RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere...actually you will have to because you're never going to be able to get these people on the phone. I hate to leave a bad review here, I really do, as I was a patient for over a decade and had some great experiences with dentists, dental assistants, and dental hygienists here, but I just can't recommend it unless they make some changes to their referrals, billing, and other aspects of care. I found out while switching dentists that they hadn't taken full-month X-rays for 11 years even though those are supposed to be done every five years and was...not surprised as they've dropped the ball on the basics so much here. (The explanation for not doing full-month X-rays was that I didn't have an issue that I actually have.) Another example: they did not offer me fluoride treatments, which they apparently typically offer every year; I guess they just forgot for a decade. I wish they would've referred about a year and a half sooner for persistent cold sensitivity. Instead they told me the x-rays looked great and to ignore it. (If you are reading this with the same issue, note that you can self-refer to an endodontist.) This is the second issue they told me to ignore which... another dentist immediately picked up on and told me to get looked at. Not including the times my bite fell off after they did work and they told me to wait a few weeks to see if it magically improved on its own or I got used to it. One time I came in a total of four times for adjustments before a referral they referred out. A timely referral would've saved me hundreds of dollars (for work they had to redo) as well as months/years of persistent cold sensitivity and pain. One time during a procedure I had to wait a extra 20 minutes while a dentist talked to another patient about porcelain veneers. I have felt in recent years like they were more interested in making money selling cosmetic dentistry than dealing with actual dental issues and pain. While I was going through the years-long process of getting multiple treatments and adjustments on the same two teeth they talked to me about whitening treatments. I've been late to appointment safter a treatment that ran way late a total of three times, once because of a clumsy dental hygienist who took dozens of photos because she couldn't get the angles right. They've also messed up my billing many times over the years, repeatedly overcharging and often not even letting me know I had a refund available until my next appointment months later. I just got a bill saying I owed money when actually money is owed to me. And when I've shared this information privately through their internal surveys they then sent me automated emails asking for referrals, but I don't think I'd refer anyone to this clinic. They also regularly charge more than the rate set by the insurance company for many of their procedures, leaving the patient to cover the difference. In some instances the quality of care or service you get might justify the extra fees but I don't feel it does here. Updating to add that I was really surprised by their response to this review saying they hadn't been able to get ahold of me to address discrepancies, that they didn't want to share here for my privacy. This was surprising for two reasons: first, because they regularly use SMS to share private information even though it's not end-to-end encrypted, and second, because we've exchanged dozens of calls, emails and text messages. (At some point I did start to ask for things in writing because I received conflicting information so regularly.) And they also know I switched dentists because they had to share the X-rays! Though the ones they shared weren't my current ones. (Also, I have never interacted with anybody named Amy at Harris Dental so this is the first I'd heard of her trying to get ahold of me as I don't know if she actually exists. I called the office and they said they had nobody there by that name.) Very happy with my new dentist who immediately picked up on things Harris Dental told me to ignore. It's nice to be able to just relax rather than feeling like I have to become an amateur dental researcher to make sure people are doing their jobs properly. I just wish I would've switched sooner. read more

I did my due diligence and consulted when researching for a cosmetic dentist and met with 4 of them as I wanted to make sure I chose the right one for me personally. Not only is it an expensive endeavor, I wanted a dentist that was empathetic and I chose Dr. Brian Harris due to his reputation within the cosmetic dental industry and the relationship he builds with his patients. I personally have never had a dentist that truly listened to my concerns and was as kind and as empathetic as him and his assistants, Paige and Kristina. I am not an easy patient because if my bite is even off by a hair, I get very anxious and can't focus on anything else other than my bite being off. When I needed an adjustment to my temporaries he installed, he met me later that very same day at his Gilbert office which is an hour drive for me each way. The next day it still didn't feel right and he came in to his office on his day off to readjust them. When my permanents were installed, I needed an adjustment the day afterwards and he was traveling for business and made sure that his brother, Dr. Scott Harris was aware of my case and he saw me at his office in Phoenix who is every bit as kind, compassionate and patient as his brother. I had started having a lot of pain under one of my brand new crowns on a Sunday evening and I had my final appointment scheduled to go in and get my final cosmetic tweaks done on Monday and his assistant scheduled me to have an emergency root canal with an endodontist on Monday and rescheduled my final appt. for 3 days later. After what I thought was my final whereas you get final tweaks done and fitted for a retainer, I still felt like something was off, my bite just didn't feel right and he met me on a Sunday right after church for an hour to get my bite right. Dr. Harris has a vested interest in his patients. He really is the Michael Angelo of cosmetic dentistry and I can't say enough good things about him and his practice and I have the highest respect for him! read more

So I did give this place 5 stars before but my opinion has sorta changed after a few more experiences regarding how they do referrals and pricing that could use some work and people should be cautious of. This place sometimes, their pricing can be really wonky. Some services are totally comparable to the market and othera are just a ballpark awat. They did a full mouth reconstruction on me, this was affordable by comparison to what other providers were charging and felt very professional and well advised on what needed to be done. They did a great job, A+ for comfort, professionalism, appearance and working out plans with me to do it all. What was a little off was if you need stuff like a root canal that they can't do in their office. Absolutely do not go to where they refer you. The provider they referred me to charged 3x more then other locations that i called around to. When i called ahead and heard the price i definitely wanted to do more research and so glad I did. The place they referred me to wanted to charge me $10,000.00 for JUST root canals (no crowns) that another provider charged me under $3,000 for. You'll have a similar experience to who they refer you to for implants too. So definitely be careful, just because the places they refer you to work well with this office, shopping around is super encouraged. Also some services this place offers can be very noncompetetive too, im not sure if they know or care but it was kinda off putting as well. For example i went to get an implant (to a provider i found on my own because reasons mentioned previously) and it came time to needing a crown over it. So Harris dental charges $2'000.00 for a crown over an implant. Unless it came with a diamond on it, that was obviously very unreasonable because I know how much crowns cost for normal teeth and for Implants because I did my research. Nearly everywhere else i called into charges $750 for that give or take. The implant specialist i went to on my own charged $799 to do it but I held off as i wanted to see what Harris Dental would charge first, obviously I am not getting it done at Harris Dental because wow their price was way off. Like, where do these prices come from that they could get such a drastically different charge then other providers. Now this is not to say most their services arnt competitive, they were super competitive when it came to me needing to have my whole mouth done to adjust my bite. But before you do anything, absolutely research before because their track record isnt perfect and always ask for a price before anything because if you dont, itll be upsold to you without you knowing. I even had to make sure to know what was being charged for a basic cleaning appointment because 4 other services were tacked on to be done when they scheduled me, explicitly make sure to always ask for every detail of every service when you schedule an appointment because if you dont they will absolutely tack on everything possible because i only knew what they were planning when i asked for the bill before the service, something they were not planning on showing me i until after the appointment was done because the information was not transparently offered. No company is perfect though, I'd say this place is average at best when you have to account for the lack of transparency with their billing, the fact i had to ask ahead of time like that for a simple cleaning is kinda lame. And some of their services definitely need more work in knowing how to price properly. Lastly, the places they refer you to are a rip off lol But hey, my smile is awesome sauce for what work they did do and I'd still totally recommend this place for anyone needing extensive work =D read more

Going to the dentist has never been a great experience. I've always been self-conscious about my smile. I felt like a poster child for dental issues. I also wanted to replace old caps with updated material to give a brighter white smile, that looked even across the mouth. The procedure was painless, the implants went in, and the caps now make my smile something out of hollywood. The work he performs and the followup and care of the staff has been amazing. Harris is the best dentist I've been to by a long shot. Everyone is so friendly and it's clean and well-ran. When I first came I felt like I had a lot of issues- receding gums, veneers that were 15 years old and needed to be redone, a crown that never quite fit, baby molars where I should have adult molars, TMJ, everything. And when I told them all these things and they did my initial xrays they were basically like "that's it? No biggie we'll get all this taken care of". And they have. If you don't have alot of money, you're best choosing a different dentist. I'm writing this review after a very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience with Harris Dental. I am super disappointed that I won't be going to this dentist for my dental health and cosmetic work because I was so excited when I first started the process. I can tell you Dr. Brian Harris and Dr. Joe Harris are amazing, kind and very professional. It was Dr. Joe's manner and thoughtful nature that had me take on two jobs just to be able to afford the $6000+ in work that they quoted me. The staff? Not so much. The thing is, most people, especially in this challenging economy do not have affordable health care much less affordable dental care. Like me, many are not able to finance the high cost of dental work and definitely no cosmetic care. I am someone that, as a single mom put off and put off my own dental needs instead choosing to take care of the needs of my family. Now that they are grown I finally felt this was the time I could allow myself the joy of a beautiful smile and healthy teeth - not so fast. Even with budgeting these high priced procedures and working multiple jobs to take on the expense, the $400 and $500 cash out of pocket is difficult so I had to phone the office today to try and either reschedule or to see about other payment options - I wanted badly to make my appointment as I have waited so many years for my new smile! I needed to pick up another client to cover the costs as my savings was asked of for family needs this month - what did I get when I called the office? I was scolded by the receptionist, told by the assistant, "you didn't know 48 hours ago you didn't hav e enough money? Now you are causing us and the doctor to have breaks in the day we won't be able to fill and that's costing us money." I realize if I could I should have contacted them sooner, but seriously? Have you been to Harris Dental? The decor and equipment alone is worth more than most salaries. Anyway the point to my post is I'm really disappointed I won't be continuing with Harris Dental and I wanted to tell anyone here that they are probably the best in the city, but if you are working class or a single mom with a tight budget and responsibilities, your better off choosing a lesser known dentist that might be sympathetic to your situation and be willing to work with you on the upfront costs. If you are thinking of a full mouth restoration consider going to a BOARD CERTIFIED PROSTHODONTIST and not a cosmetic dentist. Prosthodontist are not general dentists or cosmetic dentist. Although the result of their work is cosmetic to improve the look of your teeth, a full restoration is very complex issue. It is a complex and lengthy process from the surgery, having all your teeth removed, implants, to having temporary teeth while your mouth is healing to the final outcome of having a full restoration whether it be ALL ON FOUR or Removable Dentures etc.The outcome is so much more than the visual result. It is a very costly process as well. Make sure you understand everything. If it isn't explained, ask. There should be no surprises. Find out exactly what your new teeth will be made of. There are many choices and many materials now. Acrylic, Zirconia, E-Max etc. and Hybrid Bridges (A combination of more than one material). Understand what you are paying for, and what you are getting. Get the teeth and smile that YOU WANT. Not what the dentist thinks you should have. It's your mouth and your smile. Do your homework. Once you start down this road with a dentist, there is no turning back. Be happy with the choice of professional you choose. This is a very costly endeavor for most people and a major investment of tens of thousands of dollars. In my opinion, a Cosmetic Dentist is not the best choice. Great place and excellent service. However, I found very disturbing the lack of diversity on the pictures used for decoration. In a city with such a diversity, they couldn't find any non-white person with a nice smile? That didn't made me feel comfortable, I felt I wasn't welcome there because I don't reflect the target market the place have. The staff picture they have on the wall only has blond ladies, therefore, I got the same message. The customers they want reflects the staff as well. The office has all the newest technology and therefore a quick turnaround on things like crowns. You feel very comfortable (which is not always easy in a dentists office) from the moment you walk in. You can watch tv (any channel you like) while getting your procedures done. I recommended them to several friends and everyone agreed once going there that they would never go to another dentist. I hate dentists. I've been thru quite a few of them. My last dentist did quality work, but pain management was not an area he was good at. Then, I found Harris dental. They are amazing. My cleanings are amazing, and they fixed my teeth, that were in bad shape. The difference is that Harris cares about esthetics, not just a fix it and go. They are patient, and will make it the most comfortable procedure it can be. Do the they try to push some things? Yes, but no more than any other dentist I have been too. When finances are a issue, they will be complexly honest on what you need to keep your teeth, and what is just to make them pretty. About 7 years ago I started going to Harris dental. My teeth were so bad I thought I was going to have to have all of them pulled. Just embarked on a major reconstruction of my teeth on the bottom. Dr. Joe had already done a complete makeover on the top a couple years ago. I was just catching my breath financially to getting the lower teeth done. As usual it has been a pleasure, they don't make me wait, they do everything they can not to cause me any pain, and they work with me on paying for the services. It does not cost a lot more to go first class and they back up the work that they do. I know that I am getting the best possible care for a fair price. read more

I had a ridiculous experience at this office today. I scheduled a cleaning and exam for a new patient as I moved to the area recently. The hygienist suggested I needed a deep cleaning but that would have to be scheduled a different day. I asked for the regular cleaning instead and that I would think about the deep cleaning in the future. She refused. What? Just clean my teeth please, that's what I came for. What kind of dentist office is this? I have been waiting a long time to get my teeth cleaned, I am busy, this is what I scheduled and what I expected. Please don't waste my time. Very disappointing experience, I am finding a different dentist. I need a dentist who's main concern is my teeth, and cleaning them, not how the office looks. Unreal this morning. If you're main concern is that your dentist office is as bougie as possible, this may be the place for you. If you just want your teeth cleaned, go somewhere else. read more
