I wanted more. I found more than I could have hoped when I switched to American Community Bank & Trust. Almost over the top, everyone meets me with a sincere smile and make the point to know me. In fact, I think they are saying hello Glenn when I pull up to the teller drive up lane. If you are looking for that community bank that does more than just put it in their name, I can't recommend another bank more.

They ghosted me when I questioned how my cash was being spent, so I made steps to close the account. I requested an electronic transfer to an outside account but was told it had to be a paper request from them. When I had them send in the paper request I followed up in a couple weeks and was told they never received it. They then agreed to wire the money but took another $350 to close the account. Plus a wire fee. I have never heard of such a high fee to close an account, but that is what I was told when I questioned it!!!!!! I tried to accelerate my issues during this process, but never received a return call from the vp. I'm closing the rest of my accounts, but I did used to really swear by this bank. Not sure why the questions. Judt mail me out a card is not my fault someone hacked my account. I have to wait to speak to a supervisor. She finally calls back. Closes my account. They are very rude and not very professional here. I will be calling corporate on them!

My business has been banking with this…read morelocation for over 45 years, and yes the first transition from First National Bank of McHenry to Blackhawk bank was a little rocky and so what the recent transition from Blackhawk to First Mid... but that is expected when financial institutions merge. I did come across some frustrating situations but every single one of them was quickly addressed by Nick and he always went above and beyond to make sure the issue was resolved, and then followed up to make sure everything was working fine. She spoke of her husband and her family having all this money, and that we would never save the amount of money we were depositing again as a pushy sales tactic. Today we got a call from her stating our checking account was negative. We have two people on this joint account and she only contacted one of us. Legally this is against policy. She also had no reason to be calling us as thus wasn't even the savings account that we had opened. We never signed her up to be screening our checking account and calling us about it . It was extremely unprofessional and a very pushy sales technique. I would absolutely not bank with 5/3rd Mchenry. She was awful.
