I was looking at getting extensions done at Harper Ellis and they seemed great on insta. I booked a balayage and wanted to do color before I booked an appointment for hair extensions and spent $1500+. The person who I had booked for my blonding was more expensive than the other stylists in the salon, which I intentionally wanted that person. I came in and I talked with the person I booked with. They then went and put in extensions on a coworker who worked there and I had two girls color, tone and cut my hair. The stylist I booked and paid extra for only blow dried my hair. I was upset with that but still left happy with my color. I got home and looked at the back of my hair.. I genuinely cried over how bad it looked. Not only did my hair turn out awful with 2000s streaks, I had hot spots and my hair was so, so brassy. I also paid extra for a stylist who didn't even touch my hair. The salon was nice and the girls who did my hair were so sweet, but my hair looked like a raccoon :( read more

All the girls are so sweet and so kind. Very fast to respond and super understanding when it comes to changing things. I did my hair at my usual hair stylist in Oklahoma and it was so bad so my bf recommended this salon to get it fixed and I'm so glad I started coming here. Jada is so amazing and kind, I can't imagine wanting to go anywhere else now :) read more

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a good salon, this wasn't it sadly. I was booked with Whitney for a highlight and was very clear I wanted platinum highlights which is what I've been doing for years. My hair isn't in bad condition as I don't use heat much and oil and deep condition every week more than once a week. I don't think she could see the condition well in the dark lighting. She even said trimming 1/2 in was plenty after rinsing etc..(with a lot of damage you have to take off a lot for breakage and split ends which isn't needed in my case) I brought pictures and explained all I wanted. I was told highlights start at 150.00. OK Whitney said she couldn't do platinum and was worried what it would break off my hair! She talked me into low lights and highlights but didn't really say how light she was able to get me. I have naturally dark blonde hair so not that difficult to lift.. I didn't want to take a chance if she wasn't able. I explained I didn't want any warmth and she said she would ask after drying if it was OK. She didn't. I stopped her and explained it was to warm and to many low lights. She argued it will wash out as it's semi-perm and next time we'll do... whatever. It was clear she wasn't going to tone it again. She did put platinum arround my face though! So clearly she could do this just chose not to! So this was all her creative endeavor and not what I wanted. Great.. She recommended so many products too but I couldn't see spending 100.00 plus on things I wasn't sure would work. We get to check out and the bill is almost 300!! She didn't explain and I thought she had given me a receipt in the bag of protective oil I had. This is where she tells me it's her last week and she's never going to be back as she is moving!! So when I booked no one told me this and everything she said about next time was a lie. She wasn't even going to be there!! I was so shocked i couldn't believe they did this. Someone could have told me she was leaving and given me a choice to see someone else or wait till an opening with a stylist that wasn't leaving. By this time she had disappeared to take care of another client and there was no one to ask about a receipt for this or explain the charges. I was really surprised i wasn't told she was leaving the salon. I was texted later about my appointment and I explained it wasn't a good experience to whoever was asking (it only said the salon name) and I never heard back. I hope this review helps others. Maybe this salon is only for high end extensions and not really other services as far as quality. read more

Shannon who is the WORST stylist I have ever met in my entire life! I went in for a color and cut and while she did good with the color, the cut was BAD! I showed her a picture, of a long inverted bob she cut my hair and styled it (curled) and I thought it looked cute. But when I got home and washed, dried and straightened it it looked disconnected. I called the salon and told them, the lady up front offered for Shannon to fix it. I accepted and went back to give Shannon a chance to fix it. I was polite with her through the process. I asked her to connect it and give it a more stacked effect. I showed her a different picture for more detail. I didn't realize how bad it was until I was styling it. I cried. I called the salon again on Saturday, and asked to speak to the person who was in charge of the salon, as I didn't want Shannon to 'fix' my hair again! I forwarded pictures and Tara, the owner. She called me and asked me how they could make this right for me. When explaining to Tara how wrong my hair was cut she cut me off and was telling me she could not fix my hair over the phone so I could come in and she could look at it and she'd be happy to fix it. She was very dismissive of anything I had to say and made me feel like I was not styling my hair right, how I asked for an adventurous hair cut, how the texture of hair and that Jaír didn't go and I needed a Brazilian blow out....basically it was all my fault and treated me as if I was being rude and inadequate. lt was as s if she didn't care how extremely upset I was that my hair was beyond botched and just wanted to make it right for me to go go away aka not say anything! I forwarded a full picture of the side of my hair to the salon owner and told her to look at how bad it looked. She said again she could fix it the next day, but that I needed to be professional. First of all, they need to be professional I am the client. Second, they screwed up MY hair, and I have every right to complain and be heard. And as the owner she should be willing to listen to me and make me feel like I matter and be empathetic towards the situation. I cried, because my hair looks so bad, and she didn't care! And treated me like I was trying to get free service! She have me an ultimatum and said, I could come in and be professional or she would refund me and we would cut all ties. When she said that...I told her to mail me a check. She said she wasn't going to mail me anything and if I wanted it I could come in to get it! That tells me she is letting her personal feelings get in the way of business and she is not truly sorry and genuine about trying to make things right. I told her it was okay! Thanks anyways! Hung up. I decided not to get the refund for several reasons. One they had already talked down to me to a whole other level. Blaming me and making me feel like I didn't know how to style my hair and like I was at fault. I was upset, and I I didn't deserve the way they treated me. The money will not return my hair or change the fact that I probably will have to wear hats for a while. I also feel like Tara was not sorry about the situation, and she just wanted me to 'make it right' so that I wouldn't post anything. read more

Beautiful salon and great atmosphere. I have enjoyed every interaction I've had here and always get great haircuts. A+!

Let me preface with this: I have worked in a salon/spa. I know the goings-on in one, and I've managed several service related businesses in this area and in 2 other states. I purchased a coupon booklet for Salon Five Zero Four, with the intention of finding a good stylist and "shopping local". I sorely regret it. I made the a hair appointment for 9:00 a.m. today almost 4 weeks ago, as I'm going to my cousin's college graduation in Dallas tomorrow. I arrive about 5 minutes early, and a very nice young lady greeted me. That was the only nice moment. Chelsea was over 20 minutes late and never greeted me, even after I was seated at her station. The assistant performed the hair treatment and conditioning, and again, was very nice! After not being greeted by Chelsea, she began blow-drying my hair, never asking how I wanted it cut, etc. Then she didn't even cut it. I was scheduled for a conditioning treatment and haircut. Why didn't I say anything? One: As I previously stated, I've worked in a salon before and I know how they treat clients with coupon booklets, but I took a chance anyway. Two: I don't want someone cutting my hair who can't even muster up a greeting or an apology for being late. Three: How do I know she'd give me a proper cut if she can't communicate with me? So, I'll chalk up this $40 rip-off coupon booklet as a lesson learned. Chelsea, if you're having a bad day or you don't want to work on a potential new client that has a coupon book, muster up a little civility. In any service field, communication is key, and you are sorely lacking this vital skill. After receiving communication from the owner, Tara, and responding to her in private message, it became clear that she didn't really care whether or not I was satisfied. She offered a free haircut in hopes I would remove my post and give a new, more favorable review on Facebook. She also turned the entire situation on me, saying, "...If you don't want to accept this, then we will go our separate ways from here on out and we ask that you do not slander the salon." I know the difference between giving an honest review and slander, as I've worked as a legal assistant for 7 years. THIS was NOT slander, it was an honest review of shitty customer service by a brat with a nasty attitude and a salon owner acting like a child because she didn't get her way. read more

Loved my stylist, She's so down to earth and humble. I don't have family or anyone but needed a much over due mommy make over but had to take my toddler in who sat quietly in his stroller happy a majority of the time and got fussy at others because he's a toddler and lord knows they are unpredictable especially when he was in it for a couple hours. Didn't care for being told my toddler needed to be quiet by the owner but the stylist reassured me and said she had kids and understood and made me feel like I wasn't supposed to feel ashamed of going into a hair salon with my baby which is how I was feeling when we were there. I was one of maybe 4 people of 2 who worked there getting their hair done and with Monday's being their slowest day I assumed it was the best time to go in.. didn't realize having a baby was taboo in a hair salon. ‍. I could understand if he was running around getting into stuff but he was strapped in a stroller playing with a toy that made him happy and yet it was too loud or the cartoon he was watching on my phone on medium volume was too loud over their music over the sound system..so as much as I loved her I won't go back. I'd love to give my Stylist 5 stars but this is a review about the salon and the owner for how a woman with a well behaved child was treated. If you don't have kids of your own that's fine but as a business you need to understand that moms who have no option of leaving their baby with someone other than a stranger needs their hair done to feel like she isn't running ragged all the time, I would have booked a facial, eyelashes and several other things but knowing I can't do those things if I have my baby because his toys stand out from all the other noises aren't welcomed or that I'm told he needs to be quiet when he does get fussy ..seems discriminatory. You mind as well put a sign up saying no kids allowed and see how far that goes without a lawsuit. To sum it up..He was being good until his cartoon was too loud which could only be heard if you were standing by us or walking by over the radio blaring and then his toy train was annoying you so it had to be turned off as well at which point he got fussy. No wonder this place gets so awful reviews about the owner.. her stink face attitude will drive that place into the ground. read more
