Extremely disappointing and distressing experience with piercing services…read more
Unfortunately, my experience with this piercer was deeply upsetting, and I feel it's important to share the details so others can make an informed decision before booking.
I had two piercings done, a septum and a navel, and both experiences raised serious concerns about the piercer's technique, judgment, and professionalism. One piercing was performed despite concerns about whether I had the appropriate anatomy for it. I was assured that I did, but the experience left me questioning that assessment. Both piercings were extraordinarily painful, and the jewelry initially used was too small.
During the original piercing appointment, the piercer also made comments about my body that I found sexual in nature and inappropriate in a professional setting. This added another layer of discomfort to an already distressing experience.
When I returned to address the jewelry sizing, the piercer offered to replace the jewelry if I purchased new pieces. I agreed, but the replacement process was equally concerning. He called over a coworker who had already finished their shift and appeared to be in a considerable hurry to leave. During the attempted replacement, my concerns and requests to stop were not respected. Pliers were used to manipulate the jewelry, but the attempt to grip it appeared unsuccessful, and my nose was injured in the process. The bleeding was substantial enough that I was sneezing out blood clots for days afterward.
There was also an attempt to upsize my navel piercing just two hours after it had been pierced, apparently because the appropriate longer bar was unavailable. Rather than obtaining suitable jewelry, the piercer attempted to force a larger piece through. I found this deeply concerning, particularly given how recently the piercing had been performed.
When things went wrong, I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously. Instead of taking responsibility for what had happened, the piercer ultimately placed the blame on me, and I left without an apology. I was also made to feel at fault for the jewelry situation, despite having initially been pierced with jewelry that was too small.
I understand that piercings involve discomfort and that complications can occur. My concerns are not simply that the experience was painful or that something went wrong. They are the combination of questionable technique, inappropriate comments about my body, disregard for my request to stop, and a lack of accountability afterward.
I cannot speak to the quality of the shop's tattoo services, as I have no personal experience with them. I can only speak to my experience with its piercing services, which I found profoundly disappointing and distressing. Based on my experience, I would encourage anyone considering getting pierced here to ask careful questions about anatomy, jewelry sizing, and procedure, and to ensure that their concerns and boundaries are respected throughout the process.
This happened on my birthday, making an already upsetting experience particularly difficult to forget. I genuinely wish it had gone differently.
