HORRIBLE at rapport building!! I have never understood the "California" way of doing business, saying NO to the "little" will lose a small business way more when it comes to the "big." Ventura Nationals, the sign said "live tattoos," when it says live tattoos, I assume that means anything! NOPE! not for Jared Starbard at Bone Deep Tattoos. His chair was empty, I thought hey let me blow some money and get a couple of touch ups done real quick. If he does a good job with the touch ups we can go back to him and get the bigger stuff done, my husband excitedly agreed, let's do this!! NOPE!! Not only did we get the California face of judgmental disgust like I had asked him to kill a small child, his response is, "Oh, you would have to come to the shop for something like that." Something like what?! A 10 minute quick job that I was willing to pay $200 for?! Touch up for two small hearts? I was paying for convenience and hoping to find a new tattoo guy. Way to be a boner killer on something we were excited about. I guess he wanted to have something cooler, more hard core to come sit in his chair that day, maybe a $1000 tattoo would have had him interested. It didn't matter that we could be long term customers who would spend $1000 on tats... nope... he wanted something bigger and better that day. I hope he got it! Thankfully we were able to find another guy who was happy to take our money from a different tat shop. Here's some business sense... I got my septum pierced today by Jasmine and she was great. I found out about this place after a woman I met at work said she had her septum done here by Ashley. The piercing and the jewelry looked really nice on her. However, I already had an appointment in Ventura for a nostril and septum piercing. The piercer I went to in Ventura was unable to pierce my septum after 2 kind of painful and bloody attempts. I stopped the session and just left with my nostril pierced and thinking my septum was unpiercable. I almost gave up, but remembered Bone Deep and I thought I'd get a second opinion on what happened with the first attempt. I came in while Jasmine was working and asked her questions about my septum. She checked my nose and was confident not only was my septum a great candidate for piercing but also that she could do it. She gave me her instagram handle to see her post piercing other septums. I made my appointment, went home, checked her insta page and was happy to see videos of her piercing septums with no issues. She put me at ease, was friendly and very helpful.
