They're good but I don't really like the fact they deliberately pour the sauce on the fries. Sauce gets soaked on fries and dries them out and ruins the integrity of the fry by the time they're consumed. I don't mind sauce in the fries but having a choice would be way much more pleasant. We tried to place a phone order for pick up but was put on hold for no one to ever return. We decided to drive to the location to place the order. Upon arriving, the location was filled with customers complaining about how long they've been waiting and the cashier did not greet us but looked and stated she was waiting for us. While sitting in the lobby I watched the cashier answer several calls and place them on hold to never return. She did this several calls in a row. Instead of placing people on hold and not returning just refuse to take phone orders to resolve that issue. Luckily, our food did not take long. The quality of the food was just okay. I've been to other locations who's food was much better than what was given to me from this location. read more

I ain't gone lie I hate coming here but the chicken is good. So I called in and was told to hold, I waited 6min and 25 sec just to get hung up on. I called back placed my order and was told 20min, when I arrived 30min later I still waited an additional 15min. If you go to Sharks and I mean any Sharks it's only ONE cook and ONE person working the register. Not sure how they work it out but you can always place your order and it's ready when you arrive in FIFTEEN MINUTES. We try to support but this is what makes us patronize other businesses. The Harolds doesn't taste like the original in Chicago not does it taste like the one in Merrillville that's why I like it so much but the wait time is ridiculous and the crazy thing about it is that most of the employees have been then since they open so having a routine should be down packed. You should be prepared to wait 20 to 30 mins after you pay either way if you call it in or walk in ,your going to wait. They are kind of pricey for chicken but they have a good lunch special which is 3 or 4 wings fries and a pop for $4.25 between 10am-3pm Other than that my usually are BBQ wings which are the 12 drumettes and fries for $5.25 (my type of meal). I usually get the giblets which have been great every time but I decided to switch it up yesterday and get the liver, and boy was I disappointed. I don't really do "fast food" but when I do, it's often this gem in Gary. I'm biased because I work up the street and let's face it, there are not really many options for food in this part of town, especially if you work nights so I'm thankful to have this spot just down the street from work and happy they're open fairly late. Food is consistently good, fresh & prepared well. You can't go wrong with the extra spicy btw. Backing up one of the other reviewers comments, I will say that you should show up late when picking up carry out orders because they are usually running at least 10-15 minutes behind on those, but this is a good spot for what it is...solid fried chicken/fast food at a decent price. read more

Great place for a late night snack! This place has a great crispy recipe for batter on chicken and fish but it can be too salty at times. The "Fried Gizzards" are the best and you can't beat the price for the amount you receive! The seating area of the store is small but very clean. The staff are usually very busy and seemed tired which may be the reason for sometimes having a slight attitude. I haven't tried there desserts, as of yet, but maybe in the future. Trying to patronize and support community establishments but Shante at the window didn't acknowledge me as she count money out the register , on the phone , and having a conversation with the inside staff! When I finally received eye contact I stated " I was checking on a order ", she put her finger up and said I'm not ready for you! Then she got off the phone and said to another employee the phone for you! Then proceeded to walk away! Still haven't been acknowledged 5 minutes later ! Still waiting as Shante in the back talking and laughing with the other employees! As I looked more and more to the back another employee came to window to service me. Also this went on for 15 -20 minutes . I'm very bother by the lack of customer service and the rudeness of the employee. If you want people to continue to support your establishment please teach them about customer service.
