The pain was due to a bulging disc in my lower back pinching on my sciatic nerve. A day after the procedure I was pain free. Also. Dr. White did a phenomenal job of assessing my situation, expediting the process to get me to the surgery in a way which saved me weeks of debilitating pain. Also, Dr. White answered all my questions wherein I had many to ask. I would strongly recommend this team to anyone who was in the same condition as I was. DBR 5/13/2021

I am about 1 year out post an extensive lumbar fusion with pelvic fixation, which was really a last resort for me, but I'm doing great now! I appreciate that Dr. Perry offered multiple alternatives and conservative care options first. When those options failed to adequately help and the surgery was indicated, Dr. Perry proved to be not only knowledgeable and exceptionally skilled, but he also provided helpful education before, during and after the ordeal. He was patient with all of my many questions and concerns and helped me navigate through the whole experience, which otherwise would have been a very terrifying experience for me. I am very appreciative of the care I received from Dr. Perry, his whole team at JOI. If I ever had another spine problem I would ABSOLUTELY choose Dr. Perry again.

Dr Frykberg has performed seven surgeries on my family members, so I've had plenty of experience…read morewith his expertise. He is not only the most skilled surgeon I've ever met, but he is also an amazingly nice guy! Most surgeons believe in keeping a certain emotional distance from their patients, but Dr Frykberg doesn't. Instead, he treats his patients like his own family and it is very obvious that he truly cares about those people that put their lives in his very skilled hands. Bottom line, Dr Brett Frykberg is the best surgeon I've ever known.

There was a shining star among some pretty bad parts of my total hip replacement. Dr. Brett Fykberg…read morewas that star. First he really impressed us in our original meeting. Super nice, friendly, and smart about his field and what he thought was best for me. We talked about me and what I do, did, and want to with this body that I have beaten slap to death. Then we talked about him where he came from (local kid) and where he studied and did his residency. He was born and raised here and did his residency in the big apple at the best joint replacement hospital in the country. He chose the this particular hip contraption cause of what I want an need to be able to do with my life and work. I will say that everyone in this office was very sweet and helpful. They know I was in pain went out of their way to make me and the wife comfortable. Never being operated on before I was nervous and scared. Doc I guess felt that and comforted me. I will say that the surgery and before and after included and very good doctors visit. He told me how my old hip was and it wasn't pretty but the new one was all bright and shiny. He even wrote Go Gators on the probe in my leg bone. JK but I feel he would have if I asked. I just returned from our post op visit and I got my first look at my new hardware. I do know it has only been 13 days since I took possession of this hip it is working better and better everyday. I know it is cause of Dr Frykberg's talent. I will also say that he learned today that his one guilt pleasure is Maple Street Biscuit Companies food so you know what I did? Yep the office had breakfast on me this morning and will every time I return. He was genuinely happy when I returned with biscuits for him and his side of the office. I would very highly recommend JOI and Dr. Frykberg for anyone needing hip or knee replacement after all he is that good.

I broke my ankle (3 places) while on vacation in N Georgia, which meant an ER visit. The ER doc…read moreplaced me in a cast to my knee and told me to make an appointment with a surgeon once the holiday weekend was over. I'd heard great feedback about Dr Hiram Carrasquillo and he was already on my short list. I called and had a lovely young lady who told me she would check the doctor's calendars and make sure I had the earliest appointment with the best surgeon for my situation and she scheduled me for two days later. From the moment we entered the facility, they made it easy to get around on wheeled chairs you could easily access just inside the doors. The office staff were equally warm, professional and proficient and the environment is clean and bright. I was checked in quickly, directed to a waiting area and before we knew it, I was in a room meeting Dr C. He's calm and reserved, and after reviewing all my imaging, explained what I would be facing. He is very direct and simultaneously kind and reassuring...my surgery was five days later and my staples were removed nine days after that. Today (a little over a month after surgery), I got to see the beauty of his work combined with the benefit of following his directions to the letter; no weight bearing, do the therapy/exercises EVERY day, take the supplements AND rest with your foot elevated. I'm so thankful for the amazing team at JOI who provided great care and expertise in knowing how to help me recover. If you need orthopedic surgery, this is your opportunity to receive great care!

Review for Nicklous Godley, PA -- Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute…read more this is my first review and I'm almost 70 years old I have been in chronic, excruciating hip pain since September 2024 and have been under JOI's care since November 2024. At my initial visit, I was diagnosed with bursitis and sent to Brooks Rehab for 11 sessions. After completing the rehab, I received no follow-up, no feedback, and no guidance on next steps. Months later, I found out my provider had quit -- but no one at JOI ever contacted me or continued my care. I was left in pain with nowhere to turn. Today, I had an appointment with Physician Assistant Nicklous Godley, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disheartening and unprofessional medical experiences I've ever had. From the moment he learned I wasn't ready to move forward with surgery, his demeanor completely changed. He became dismissive, cold, and disengaged. I explained that I've been waking up every night in pain and asked multiple times for him to complete an FMLA form so I wouldn't face consequences at work while trying to manage this condition. He refused, saying that I'm not a patient of his and that JOI would only consider FMLA after I scheduled surgery -- even though I've been with JOI for nearly a year. In the middle of the conversation, he did say, "I'm sorry this sounds so harsh," but by that point, the damage was done. His words and tone felt completely lacking in empathy. I came in desperate for relief and left feeling ignored and deeply disappointed. There is no continuity of care here, no accountability, and no real concern for what the patient is going through. I cannot recommend Nicklous Godley to anyone seeking compassion, understanding, or true medical support. I felt like he was a used car salesman if he wasn't gonna be able to close a deal by scheduling me with some sort of surgery! He brought up knee surgery back surgery and completely turn very rude and cold because I was not interested in surgery ! horrible experience today He asked and I quote "why are you here if you're not scheduling a surgery" Do your homework before you pick out this guy terrible experience Horrible bedside manner.

While everyone…read moreis personable and friendly, I can't say the staff has taken a proactive, "let's solve your issues with your knees and improve your lifestyle" kind of attitude. I was diagnosed and have received underwhelming care and attention. Today, I went in for a 5th visit. I'm asked by the staff and doctor if I came in for a shot. I say, "Sure." Then, when I see the PA, I ask again about what are my options and plans for further knee solutions instead of just a shot? She has to look at my chart and leaves. Deja Vu, this is what happened during my last visit. *Maybe looking at my chart and being somewhat familiar with my situation after being a client for over a year would be nice and make me feel as if I have a doctor who is involved. Anyways, we talk. I figure out I'll need to keep up with physical therapy. It's a sensible prognosis. I'm sad though because I feel as though I don't have the support I need. I have friends who are clients of JOI and they are being supported and taken care of with shots, plans, and check-ins every step of the way. They have returned to their tennis team while I have not. I've read the other reviews and am glad others have had a great experience. Perhaps if I was getting surgery, I would get more service.
