This is the original location where many stars got their Start. The staff was amazing. The experience was fantastic. The comics started on time. They put your table number and your party number on a sealed envelope where you will put your phone in where it has to be sealed the entire time you step into the cellar. Very efficient and very streamlined process. We didn't order food. We just had cocktails and it was amazing. Easily one of my favorite nights of the city. My cucumber gin drink was refreshing and not too strong. Each comedian that went up did such a great job with various styles of humor and experiences to share. Long ago I learned something interesting about myself. Yes, it's fun to win money. And yes, it's sad to lose money. But for me, the pain of losing money is greater than the joy of winning. That simple calculous keeps me away from tables, from putting coins in machines, or from laying down bets on sporting events. I came to Mohegan for the promise of a nice adults-only hotel at a low price. And for this, it was quite good. But Matthew U. hit the nail on the head about the smell of cigarettes. That was jarring. The room was fine, but the lobby not so much. Somehow I kinda forgot that people still smoke cigarettes. Honestly, this would be a four star review if I had not been tempted to check out the casino floor. Mostly, I thought it would be fun to look at the lights, people watch a bit, and maybe grab a drink at the bar before turning in for the night. That was a mistake. Sure, there was the smoke. But more than that, nobody looked like they were having a good time. Everyone looked sad. Some folks looked desperate. Others looked bored. Casinos exist because they make money. They make it by taking more than they give away. I feel like casinos may be a tax for people who are bad at math, or think the rules of mathematics somehow magically do not apply to them. All of the seats at the bar had screens built into them, so I didn't see any place to sit that wasn't in front of a slot machine. Ick. This clearly wasn't my scene. After a couple laps around the circle, I went back to my room to turn in for the night. The next morning when I was checking out, the clerk told me I hadn't used my $10 meal voucher, which could be used at the coffee shop. That was nice of them. I used it to order a ridiculous off-menu coffee drink, adding shots of espresso to push up the total. The coffee shop folks were lovely. What was less lovely was seeing an additional $15 resort fee added to my card when my Orbitz reservation was supposed to cover all fees in my booking. But at the moment I'm not sure if that's a Mohegan issue or an Orbitz one. Still, if I were in the area without kids, and the rate was right, I'd probably go back and stay at the hotel. Nice, clean, and reasonably well appointed room.

The…read moretheater is old, but the Ritz Players Theater group is one of the best I have seen in community theater, and in today's economy you cannot beat the price for wonderful entertainment.. I guess the person who wrote the last review is used to broadway and fancy theaters, rather than good talent and entertainment. Instead of complaining about the theater maybe a substantial donation to help this wonderful group of people should be made.
