I paid $40 (cash price) upfront for a 30-minute massage. As I was getting ready to leave a tip, the therapist blocked me and used Google Translate to insist that I owed her a minimum $10 tip (25% tip) because "the $40 goes to the boss." I explained I only had $4 in cash left, so she walked me over to the card machine to charge the $10 (plus an extra $3 credit card fee). She also expected to keep the $4 cash on top of the card charge. I'm all for tipping, but being cornered and forced to pay an arbitrary mandatory tip (and fee) was uncomfortable. I was left concerned and uncomfortable for the next 30min. I had specifically asked for a foot massage, but the pressure was focused on the tops of my feet, not the soles where I needed relief. When I told her "lighter", she acknowledged it but continued with the same pressure. When the session ended, she left the room immediately without offering assistance. Being 7 months pregnant, I had to roll to my side, carefully sit up and slowly help myself off the high bed to grab and put on my socks and shoes, which was a bit disappointing. At the end, I was charged for the full hour. When I didn't leave a tip, she asked why, and I told her the experience wasn't good and I wouldn't be returning. On my long drive home in this heat and traffic, she texted me--after tracking down my number--to apologize and offered a $10 refund, but asked for my credit card info to do it and sent me 2 pictures. I had been complaining about bad shoulder knots so I decided to try this place out. Upon entering I noticed pricing was comparable but a little more than my usual place but decided to try anyway. There was one lady at the entrance who had very broken English but we managed to communicate with one another, but I will add she really did not seem to want to work. Anyway, was pointed to a small room and instructed to get ready and get on the table face down. Room seemed clean, had a chair where I was able to put my clothes and lotions and oils were organized. First red flag, I noticed generic very cheap lotion and oil bottles along with unbranded ones organized in a little organizer. 2nd red flag, the lady came in and just squirted cold lotion on my back and got to softly rubbing my my shoulder. I repeatedly told her she could use more pressure as it felt like my 3yr old was giving me a massage... but the pressure never came. At times my back also became dry and "crusty" feeling so she repeatedly put lotion or something on my back which was irritating just as much as her leaving the room about 4-5x through the almost hour massage. Now here is where it got weird, every time she walked out I felt as though she was in the other room massaging someone else and just as if trying to to relax before she would come back in I'd hear "noises"... needless to say she completed my massage early and I was fine with the wasted time (under a hour, and less than paid massage) and be out the door.
