I was welcomed with a lovely chat over tea and a scone by the innkeeper Rosaleen O'Leary! I really appreciated her taking time to get to know me and share her thoughts on Irish history and culture. My room was good sized, appealing and a great value. Showers were hot with good water pressure. The gardens on the property were just gorgeous - imagine Secret Garden type plantings. My stay included a complete hot Irish breakfast with lots of coffee, eggs and Irish bacon - similar to a fried ham. Mmmm. I enjoyed a morning walk down the road to Ross Castle, which I highly recommend. Who knew the advancements in medieval architecture and defense? Ross Castle Lodge B&B is adjacent to the Killarney National Park, and one may walk through the park to get to the 'town' of Killarney where you'll find lots of restaurants, pubs & shops. Booking was easy via email. Walkable distance to town and the train station - but a cab is easier for arrivals! They gave us great recommendations and also drove us to the bus station when we had to leave. Killarney was amazing! It was our favorite city in Ireland and we would love to go back. Plenty to do in the city with unique shops and restaurants. I would recommend renting bikes and riding into the national park.

It was very reasonably priced and we even got a free night thrown in which was a pleasant surprise! We arrived around 6:30pm on a Tuesday. The pub was busy and the locals were watching us but we had been awake for 27 hours and just wanted to crash so we didn't really care. The woman at the bar greeted us and got us checked in as soon as she finished serving someone. She helped us bring our luggage upstairs (two stories up) and showed us into our room. She was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The room itself was small - just a bed, a stool, and a small bathroom, no other furniture. The bed was comfortable and the ceiling fan was a pleasant surprise. The window in the main room had a blackout curtain you could pull down which was great for going to bed early. The bathroom had a small shower that didn't have room for our own bottles but we made do just fine. The water pressure was amazing. We felt so refreshed after showering and did not feel like we had been up for 30 hours straight at that point. There are five rooms all on the top floor. The breakfast room is on the second floor with no other rooms in use there, so there's a whole floor between you and the bar. Because of that we heard absolutely no noise from the bar, something I was skeptical of when I read the other reviews saying the same thing. The windows are also super insulated and we heard almost no street noise even in the busiest times of the day. I'm a super light sleeper and I had no problems sleeping here. You place your breakfast order the night before by filling out a slip and leaving it at the bar, then you go down at the time you picked in the morning to eat. You can also leave the slip with the chef when you eat in the morning. Chef Norita is an absolute gem. She is so sweet and will chat with you about your trip and where your trip and will offer local tips to enhance your trip which we really appreciated. She is an absolute sweetheart and she's also an amazing chef. We tried a little bit of everything while we stayed here and she knocked it out of the park. The bacon and fresh soda bread are especially delicious. The rooms are cleaned regularly while you're out. We went out to wander our first day and came back a couple hours later to a freshly cleaned room with new towels. We left the windows open and the ceiling fan on to circulate some fresh air into the room and it was so nice to just lay in bed and relax for a bit. We got fresh towels regularly and fresh sheets once as well. It was wonderful to come back to a clean room after a long day exploring. When checking out, just hand the keys to Norita. She will say goodbye and offer to help you with your bags if you need it. We were sad to say goodbye to this place when we checked out! I'm positive I will be back to Killarney again, and when I am I'll make sure to book my stay at Dan Linehan's. This place really is the perfect home away from home.

I have stayed here twice and I will definitely be returning.

Upon our arrival, Greta greeted us and she was a delightful, kind person. She explained everything we needed to know about the house and the things to do in Killarney. Our room was perfect with a view of the church spires in town, it was so comfortable after our long day. I the morning, the breakfast was delicious. We had the Irish breakfast (cooked by Mr. Doyle) as well as the assortment of cold options that were laid out buffet style. We were so happy to have a lovely conversation with Greta about her upbringing and the changes that have come to Killarney over the years. The entire experience was such a delight that we hope to return again. We can't recommend Algret House enough! It added so much to our already amazing trip to Killarney

After we took a seat, she offered us tea and coffee, toast and homemade scones with butter and jelly. On the table, there was a menu where you could choose from about 6 options ranging from a full Irish breakfast to waffles and fruit to porridge. The house itself was tucked away down a quiet side street just about a 5 minute walk to the downtown pubs and restaurants. So you got all of the pease and quiet that comes with isolated neighborhoods, but you were just steps from the shops and nightlife. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay, we would recommend it, and we will definitely consider revisiting if you come back to Killarney.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with coffee and tea (and with puppy snuggles from Roma!); Mary was also quick to give us a short orientation of where we were located, recommended hikes in the national park and more. She was also incredibly helpful in helping us get reservations for our grandmother's 80th birthday. (Including recommendations on where to get a cake and balloons in town!) The location itself is fantastic - you can walk to a few short hikes - and you're only a short drive from some of the more popular hikes in Killarney National park. Then, you're only five or so minutes from downtown Killarney and a variety of restaurants, pubs, and entertainment. The rooms were clean and large! I don't know what sheets they use, but they were so comfortable and soft. They cleaned the rooms once a day. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! First, there is always a cold buffet - with granola, cereal, various fruits and pastries. The scones and jam were my absolute favorite! Then, there is also a hot menu to order from, which includes a full Irish breakfast, crepes, banana fritters, and more. We were the only people staying, so they didn't have an issue with us monopolizing the sitting room late at night, playing games and enjoying drinks. John took the time to tell us about all of our options while in Killarney, and his suggestion for the day trip to Gap of Dunloe ended up being my favorite part of our trip! Breakfast was delicious, and Bridget, the waitress, was very helpful in providing us directions. The location is a little off the beaten path, not really walking distance to bars and restaurants but only a 5 min drive. I personally loved how quiet it was, and the views are amazing! My only small complaint is that the room felt a little damp, probably because of the weather.

The minute you swing open the heavy wooden door, and step into the dramatic entryway, you are practically transported to Ireland in the1800's. We arrived to meet our charming host Eileen, an absolute sweetheart who bent over backwards to make our stay inviting and memorable! Our room was perfect: clean, cozy, and homey. There was a hair drier, coffee and tea service in the room, and wi-fi (though somewhat spotty and slow reception). The parlor down stairs is stunning to behold: richly upholstered chairs and couches, antique curios, old paintings on an elegant backdrop of period wallpapering. It is an absolutely classic Victorian Irish home. The b&b is only a brisk 10 minute walk to the breathtaking Kilarney National Park and a small bike rental shop, and a quick cab ride away from the downtown area. Unfortunately, our train was rather early in the morning, and while Eileen did her best to get us a little breakfast (mind you, while waiting on 5 other tables in her fabulous dining room) we simply did not have enough time to enjoy her full Irish breakfast. She efficiently brought out our coffee (one pot caffeinated, one decaffeinated for my cousin) Irish porridge, toast and rolls, and delicious berry pancakes before we were whisked aware by our taxi.
