If you want fancy and new this isn't the place for you but if you are like me and enjoy the motels with midcentury history but modern upgrades, it's a great stay. They accommodated my dogs for a lower pet fee than anywhere else and the customer service couldn't have been any better. I'd definitely stay again.

And, it's become clear that they have given up on the hotel side of the business. During my last visit this summer 2019, my room was just awful. It faced the back door of the kitchen with all the associated noises and odors. There was a vibration coming from below which shook the entire room. There was no internet service and the TV used some weird cable subscription service which would come in and out. I called the manager and asked him to fix all of the above. He said "Internet has been in and out all week". And, " I thought I had this TV connected in this room." And "I don't know what that vibration is downstairs, it might stop later". I asked for a different room, (there were only two other cars in the parking lot besides mine, so, there were other rooms available), manager's answer was no. The room was already paid for, so I had no options. In the future I will choose one of the many vacation rentals (vrbo) available in the area. I would not recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Now that I have your attention. I'm going to speak to those of you who have a sports car like me. You are going to love the drive to this little town. North Carolina highways 181 and 221 through the Pisgah Forest is reminiscent of drive through the Alps in your 1964 Ferrari Daytona. The road is smooth and well maintained. So, put the top down on your Corvette, your Porsche, your M Class or your Mini and enjoy the drive.

On arrival 11/8 Hope and Sophie greeted us with an engaging tour of Lovill House Inn and it's history. My husband and I rented the on-site cabin with my sister and her spouse for 4 nights. The cabin was spacious and refreshingly clean and well appointed, including glass water bottles in bedrooms replenished as needed. We enjoyed the cabin's fireplace each evening. The breakfast offerings each morning were generous and delicious, presented beautifully. And that's an understatement. Shirred eggs, the best eggs I've ever eaten (recipes available). Any dietary requests were met quickly. The grounds are beautiful, with the newly renovated barn available for special occasions. A path to a nearby waterfall is on the grounds. The sustainable commitments made at he Lovill House Inn are impressive. This includes the solar panel installations with Tesla battery support; the no-plastics policy; commitment to healthful food options, with some flavourful ingredients grown on site. The staff managed so well by Allison (also and on-site chef) were thoughtful and knowledgeable providing a truly special experience for guests. The only downside was I felt it was a little overpriced for what you got. The low quality sheets on the bed were worn out. The piling made them feel like coarse sandpaper. It's a shame because the mattress was very comfortable.

It has a cool industrial look. The front desk staff and housekeeping were helpful and nice. Great common areas with fire pit and outdoor seating. The lobby is cute and inviting. There is coffee and tea in the lobby area. Great location close to town, shopping, and easy to get to. Love that they allow pets, too. I highly recommend the Rhodes Motor Lodge when visiting this area. We will be back!
