ReNova changed my life! Here is my story:…read more 1. I tried AA, overall it was kinda cult like. I would not recommend it, especially if you are female. Women are constantly hit on, and NO person should have their boundaries compromised while trying to better themselves. More than half of the people that were in it with me have had multiple relapses, or they are no longer attending meetings. 2. In/Out-Patient: For starters, I know a lot of people that have gone to rehab, from family to friends of friends. Like with AA most of them have relapsed and have had multiple stays (40-60% relapse, 30% of people that go to rehab go again). I called a facility that offered out-patient (losing my job and spending 30-60 days away from my family were not options) and was yelled at with the person specifically stating that I "will not survive in real world if I do not do a 30-60 day detox". Umm..what? Why offer out-patient if you are only going to push in-patient and shame a stranger you have spoken to for less than five minutes?? I also believe that rehab facilities are more interested in making $$ based on research/what I have experienced. **I know there are some people that have experienced sobriety and sustained it with these programs, which I think is amazing and they should be proud of their accomplishment. However, stats clearly show that the traditional methods are not working for A LOT of people. 3. Third time was a charm with ReNova, and I am beyond grateful I have the ability to partake in the program! My first session with Mike was an assessment to see if the program would help me, and he was nothing but warm, inviting, and not judgmental in the slightest (nor has he ever been). There are two programs, one that is alcohol moderation and one is sobriety (I chose moderation). Mike works around your schedule, and while you do have to dedicate some time in the first part of the program, you're not putting your life on hold or making major sacrifices- i.e. you can attend sessions in the evening that won't put your job at risk, aren't spending a month or two away from your family/friends, and you bring your real life everyday stressors/triggers to your sessions and Mike gives you tools/coping mechanisms to work through those stressors so you don't resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms. After reading the book I was skeptical because it goes completely against what society says is the way to treat alcohol issues, but it is also why it works! You dive deep and address every contributing factor which is basically how our brain as the organ it is functions/responds to alcohol, not a character flaw or weakness as a person. Similar to a person with diabetes that can't help that their organs/cells don't function properly causing them to have issues with insulin production. I have almost completed the 12-week intensive part, and my life has completely changed. I no longer crave alcohol; when I do drink I drink waaay less than I used to and am well, "normal". My anxiety/depression is the most managed it has been for YEARS, my body feels healthier, and my friends/family say I am overall a happier person. The statistics show that what is being commonly practiced isn't working. I really hope the ReNova Institute programs become more widespread, it can help so many people struggling with alcohol.

Review: Critical Failure of Clinical Efficacy, Administrative Malfeasance, and Systemic BiasAs a…read morelicensed clinical professional who has interacted with numerous behavioral health networks, my recent experience attempting to coordinate care with The Meadows Texas has revealed a profound and alarming disconnect between their marketing apparatus and their actual clinical competency. The provider staff demonstrates a catastrophic level of ineptitude that actively compromises patient safety and violates basic tenets of ethical healthcare. The primary systemic failure lies in their assessment protocol. The admissions and clinical intake staff are entirely incapable of conducting an objective, multi-axial, or fair assessment of a patient. Rather than utilizing evidence-based diagnostic criteria, their evaluations are driven by standard commercial profiling and deeply entrenched racial prejudice. Patients of minority backgrounds are subjected to immediate, biased pathologizing and reductive stereotyping, while their actual clinical presentation is ignored. This discriminatory framework operates beneath a thin veneer of "trauma-informed care," weaponizing clinical terminology to mask institutional bigotry.Furthermore, the facility enforces absurd, non-clinical barriers to care that serve no therapeutic purpose. Communication with their provider team is nonexistent; they operate in a completely siloed, defensive vacuum. They explicitly refuse to collaborate with or listen to outside referring providers, dismissing comprehensive longitudinal data from a patient's established treatment team in favor of their own deeply flawed, rushed intake impressions. Ultimately, The Meadows Texas operates not as a healing institution, but as a predatory financial engine. Their clinical decision-making is dictated entirely by financial optimization rather than patient acuity or therapeutic necessity. When a facility prioritizes profit margins over accurate diagnostics and ethical communication, it ceases to be a healthcare provider and becomes a liability. Their staff requires immediate, comprehensive remediation by licensing boards and accreditation bodies. Avoid this facility at all costs if you value objective, competent, and equitable care.

I finally decided I needed to try getting professional help. I had never tried to quit anything before, so I literally did not have any idea what to expect. Going into it I had read a lot about the rehab industry as a whole & needless to say I was kinda hesitant about giving it a try. So I was absolutely floored by how wonderful my experience was. The staff were all incredible, and for the most part all professionals who had gone through recovery themselves at some point in their lives (recovery is a lifelong process). From the clinical director, the medical staff & therapists all the way down to the kitchen staff, over and over again I encountered staff at the Meadows who embodied a genuine empathy & a sense of true care for us patients. It was because they had been there before, they knew what we patients were going through not just on an academic level, but on a personal level, and that made all the difference. Top notch food. Solid room accommodations. Great facilities (just wish we could have used them more, we only got gym time & pool time a few days a week). Informative lectures (Dr. McCauley's neuroscience lecture made my year). All in all I couldn't recommend this place enough. Thanks Meadows for helping me kick off my sobriety journey, I'll be forever grateful....
