My friend and I decided to opt out of our usual happy hour and join a fitness class. What better way to substitute happy hour than sweating while cycling to reggae music! Attended the Thursday class and was definitely impressed. Instructor Justin actually rode the entire class! It's always good to see the instructor sweating with you. I enjoyed the combination of positions, and of course the playlist. Also, the bikes had a smooth glide. Bonus was the free water and apple, clean environment, and friendly staff. I am so excited that Harlem cycle is here. Harlem has a lot of yoga studios and gyms but this is the only cycling studio close to me. Harlem cycle is accessed by walking down stairs from the sidewalk (basement level). This is not a big or fancy studio but is very clean, modern looking, and has everything needed. The bikes seemed new and the class included water, towel, and fruit. The fruits offered were kumquats, apples, and bananas. This studio also had yoga and Pilates classes but the class I attended was the 45 minute express cycling class. Overall, I thought it was a great studio and will be back! read more

I took the Pilates class with Jojo and the 6:30am morning cycling class with Jenn and they both kicked my butt into shape. It was my first time doing both Pilates and cycling but it is definitely something I am going to implement in my lifestyle. I love the family feel of Harlem Cycle. They have everything you need, branded water, towels, fresh fruit, and community. Love this spot. Very welcoming, really nice instructors and staff. They're brand new, so they're still figuring out the business model. The receptionist had called in sick, so class started a few minutes late because the instructor had to open up everything. I did the Striver's Row class. The 12pm class was tiny, only 2 people, but it is a new studio. I only found out about it through Classpass. I have no doubt it will fill up as word spreads. The class was intense. 30 minutes cycle, 30 weights. It was a really great workout. My whole body has that dull, well-used sensation that I know means that it will come back stronger than it was before. I will definitely be back for this class, but not on a heavy work day! JoJo is very good instructor. Very diligent. Has a very strange, sometimes inconsistent way of counting, but I think it's because he's counting musical phrases, and not reps. It was pretty funny, but did not negatively impact the work out in the least. The music was really great, and the beat always matched the RPMs he was asking for... A pet peeve of mine. Amazing boutique spinning studio. All of the instructors I've taken are amazing. Wonderful energy & great music. It is a welcoming and supportive environment for beginners as well as experienced athletes. I have been spinning for 13 years and have taken classes at flywheel & many of the gyms in the city - this by far is my favorite spin studio. This is a gem. If I could give Harlem Cycle six stars, I would! I went for my introductory class last night ($12.50!) and I'll definitely be going back. Reception was warm and friendly, checking in was easy, and the studio was very small, which made it easy to see the instructor from every bike. There were water bottles and towels provided at every bike and apples for after class, which were very nice touches. Jasmine was the instructor for our class and she's amazing! Her playlist was fire and she had tons of energy that kept the class going, even through her tough hills and jumps. All in all, awesome studio! Thanks for the great class, Jasmine! read more

Harlem Cycle gives you the same great workout as the other popular cycling studios (eg. SoulCycle, Flywheel Peloton, etc.), but without the attitude. Absolutely loved my class. It was a small class but the energy was huge! Ruffin our instructor was so positive, encouraging and gave us a challenging but well paced work out. I feel like I got my money's worth and then some. The 45 minute class is a perfect way to make you feel accomplished at the beginning or end of your day. I work out here all the time and just took their cycling instructor class-- everything they offer is so practical, so helpful, with none of the fluffy crap that other studios try to push. The classes are fast-paced but far more accessible than the big chain classes, so instructors set the tone but encourage everyone to get their own workout, whether you hit the RPM or not. It's got a strong positive culture and is inclusive of everyone. I've taken almost all of their classes and each one is positive, upbeat, difficult, but accessible. Tried the Sunday morning 10am class with Shaun T. and it was great. I'm getting back into working out after a long break and so needed to take it a little slow. Shaun was great in pushing me but not making me feel bad that I wasn't doing everything exactly the way he instructed. He was supportive, motivating, and gave a GREAT workout. I also like that it's only 45 min with 15 min of ab work. The perfect combination. It's only been a few hours and I'm already sore, but the good kind of sore. Great class! Great studio! I love this studio! Free water! Free fruit! Free towels!It's a boutique studio so you get a good amount (not overwhelming) attention from the instructor. I've had the opportunity to take class with 3 instructors (Jojo, Schuyler, and Ericka) and all have been great. The staff is warm, inviting and most importantly they are non-judgmental. It's about doing what you can! The studio offers different levels of spin classes and even in the beginners class you get a really good workout. I look forward to taking classes there in the future! Harlem cycle is hands down the best spin studio I've been to in NYC. The instructors are great, classes are a great size, they provide towels, free water and fruit and the music is great! I really appreciate how attentive and welcoming the instructors are. If your bike needs adjusting they are more than happy to help, which is great for beginners!
