I can't give them anything less than one star. This place will do everything they can to take advantage and rip off an out of state college student. Over$600 for a tire pressure sensor, over $2,000 for struts and shocks. Had the poor girl in tears saying it was unsafe for her to drive her car, that her brakes were metal on metal, the rotors needed replaced as well as the brakes. I drove 275 miles to swap out vehicles, before that I checked her car out, the brakes were fine, struts were fine, nothing wrong except a tire pressure sensor was bad. $80 at another shop, and a second inspection, proved that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. This shop should be put out of business. read more

Talk about a rip off, they wanted over $9000 to replace a transmission with a rebuild and you can buy a brand-new factory crate trans for $4000 so I guess it cost $5000 to put one in and it didn't need a new one. They charged outrageous diagnostic fees and shop fees and HAZMAT fees and a bunch of other made up charges just to pad the bill. I highly recommend you go somewhere else unless you just feel like getting ripped off than go there. In the end I got my repairs done at another shop for a little over 10% of their quote and it works great. Not recommended in the least. read more

This is the second time that we have taken my daughters car to Harlan due to us living 3 hrs away from Murray State University. The texting feature is very informative and a great visual tool for the customers. The staff is very nice and very knowledgeable. I would give them 6 stars if I could. Price gouging done here! They won't give you an accurate estimate. Mike (the owner) said I needed about $1500 in repairs (breaks) and said I needed a new serpentine belt. Considering the fact that they gave me a lower estimate over the phone, I declined their services. That's when they gave me a $70 dollar charge for the inspection (that they didn't tell me about before hand). I went to Meineke and only spent $580 for front and back breaks and rotors. Oh and get this, Meineke was going to replace my belt when they found out that it was perfectly fine. THIS PLACE IS TRYING TO SCAM YOU. Go to Quality Plus or Meineke for car services!! read more

***DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS FOR AUTO REPAIRS*** One star for this place is too many! My daughter, an MSU student, dropped her car off to see about having her brakes repaired. The quote given was astronomical, so we found a MUCH more reasonable and reputable repair shop. The technician also suggested many other repairs, which were completely unfounded when checked by the other shop. When she went to pick up her car, they charged her $67 for looking at her brakes + shop and hazmat fees. was not disclosed when she dropped off the car, nor was there a place for her to sign acknowledging the fee to look at her brakes. When I called to ask for a receipt showing agreement to the fee, he rudely stated that it was posted on the wall in the shop. Run, do walk as far from this shop as you can, and don't look back! they tried to charge me $600 dollar's to change one headlight bulb,i was told that the bulb that autozone gave me for less than $50 was the wrong bulb's, and that the bulbs i needed cost $200,which was a lie, the bulb autozone gave me was the right bulb, and another garage put it in for me for free, because of the bullshit this business tried to pull on me, but the reason they don't want you to buy your own shit, is so they can buy it themselves and rob you blind while doing it, i had giving this business a lot business and i couldn't help but wonder just how much they stole from me with there shady crooked dealings, never dealed with a more corrupt company than them, and you better look into your bill from them if you have the misfortune of doing business with them, the worst company i have ever dealt with in my 59 year's of life. truly a very untrustworthy bunnies. don't believe me, find out for yourself but don't say you wasn't warned!!! they going to force me to give them a star to post this, and they are not even worth 1 star from me, i can't stand a lierer, and a thief read more

I just want to say thank you again to Harlan Automotive and Mike. Recently I bought a used Mercedes-Benz E-Class in California and delivered it to my elderly mother in Murray Kentucky. The car is the W211 chassis which I've always liked since it first came out. A generally very reliable car. I've been driving BMWs and Mercedes since the 80's and wanted to get her a safe, reliable and low maintenance car. That said owning these cars can be inexpensive but only if you don't let things go too far maintenance wise. You also do need a knowledgeable mechanic and he can save you a LOT of money and lower your Total Cost of Ownership. Before delivering it to her I had my mechanic of 20 years service the car and also had him perform all the minor repairs and work it needed using only new Mercedes parts. Unfortunately a few weeks after being delivered to her the car's alarm decided to fail and began running down her battery silently 3 nights in a row. One of the guys with the service and towing guys suggested Harlan Automotive. I ended up talking to Mike at Harlan Automotive and was very pleased with his technical knowledge and dedication to customer service. He even arranged rides for my mom to get to and from the shop. He fixed the problem the first time for the price agreed, and delivered her repaired vehicle within the promised time window including the ordering and delivery of the new alarm module. I also want to take a moment to address a theme I saw on a couple of other Yelp comments. My sense of things is that Harlan Automotive is an honest shop providing top shelf garage services to drivers who are interested in a fair price to maintain their vehicles. It's not going to be the absolute cheapest place but they're fair, honest, reliable and quality focused. They also stand behind their work and went out of their way to help my elderly mother. read more

After leaving the lights on, two jumps later, my daughter had her car towed to and repaired at this shop. After reading the manual, car battery removed and charged over night and consulting with some reputable mechanics, it was determined it could possibly be a blown fuse and not the battery. My husband talked to the mechanic and was told it was the fuse but that a wire had separated but not burned. He further stated that a squirrel or mouse could have possibly eaten the wire. We had driven it all day Saturday, we really did not think that was accurate. However, bottom line, we were at the mercy of this business. The total cost approximately $407 which included fuse and "chasing" down to determine which bad wire had gone bad as well as a low beam bulb for headlight; $29 for bulb and $56 for 30 minutes of labor. I took my car this morning, in my home town, to have my high beam light bulb put in my Volvo, total cost $19 and I would not have had to pay anything if I did not have the wrong bulb. We are so disappointed, mechanics need to be honest and not take advantage of people. Referrals go a long way and this business will not get one from us. Folks at Harlan Automotive went above and beyond to help me out. I was out of town, my son had a break down in Murray. They got his truck to the shop, took him home while they made the repairs, went to get him after the repairs. Every time he goes in for an oil change , I get an email advising me of things that need immediate attention and things I need to plan for in the future. I've been in sales for over 30 years, these guys seem to use the same philosophy that I do, Service is King. read more
