It's a fun place to shop - you'll find items you can't get anywhere else in the SGF area - and the staff is super helpful. The Missouri is Awesome apparel line is very fun - they make great husband and boyfriend gifts, and my "Eat MO Veggies" t-shirt is so soft and comfy. Maybe you have to be FROM Missouri to really appreciate some of them, but they make fun souvenirs for you out of towners who have a sense of humor. This line is how the store originated. The sale of each item creates a donation of 5 pounds of food to a food bank. Many of the other items Five Pound Apparel sells also have a social good component, like TOMS shoes and sunglasses, Crochet Kids, and FEED Bags. There are many more - the store's tag line is that everything they sell helps someone, somewhere. I really love that. Some of my favorite purchases from Five Pound are eco-friendly clothes that are comfortable, fashionable, and decently priced. If you like to shop local, want to show off your Missouri pride, or like it when your purchases create good in the world, then you'll want to get yourself to this fun little shop on the main drag downtown (or, you can check out their other location at Farmer's Park on the south side of town).

I hijacked a few coworkers en route to a work event while we were in town and dragged them here, promising a fun store with funny t-shirts. We walked in to a very upscale hipster-type store with a few 'unisex' (yeah, to me, that mean's men's) shirts and none of them were very funny. The store was really quiet and uncomfortable.

It's a fact my feet are so wide that I normally get my sneakers in the men's section at Academy because the women's wide with shoes are just not wide enough. For some reason they give them in more room in the tow box I guess because their toes are bigger? LOL! I found so many cute shoes and all were buy one get one half off. The clearance section also had an abundance of options so I walked out with three gorgeous new pair of athletic shoes and I couldn't be happier with the value and the selection. Customer service was also top-notch and the cashier let me know by signing up for emails I would get an additional 10% off!! Bonus!! I also will give customer service bonus points because there was a sign on the front door saying that the restroom was out of order. I mentioned to the girl that greeted me when I walked in that that was a bummer because I kind of needed to go and she took me back to the employee restroom. How kind!

I love this store…read more As I get older, I have various random aches and pains I never had before. Running takes its toll on the body for sure. Ultramax carries a wide variety of athletic footwear for any event or season. I seriously needed some running shoes. I can go into a store and try on any random shoe, but I wanted the help of someone who knows more than I do about shoes (not setting the bar too high here!). Ultramax has a treadmill, w/ camera and software to help analyze your gait and select the best shoe. Andrea helped me select my shoe. I am massively into bargains and the shoe I ended up purchasing was not much more expensive than ordering online. I truly appreciated the personalized help in finding the right shoe. After I used the "gateology" equipment, my sister was fit for a shoe by Andrea as well. We are both very happy with our purchases and will return!

Even though it was a busy Saturday in knew a stop in Fleet feet would calm my frustration and help me learn how to stop having to rub angry feet at the end of the day. Wyatt helped us sign in and very quickly an angel named Mallory started to help us. We got a 3d scan of my kiddos feet, amazing insole suggestion and my kid smiled and stopped complaining about her feet ! It is a minor miracle ! Brick and mortar stores like this one are a gem, online can't do anything I witnessed in this store and I am done buying and returning Amazon mishaps. I think our whole family needs shoes from here and I will be telling everyone about how impressed I am with Mallory and Fleet feet.

We had such high hopes walking into Norman Bridal, but our experience has been very disappointing…read more On August 2nd, my daughter's grandmother purchased a veil here as a gift from her great-grandmother who has passed away. It was meant to be something sentimental and special. The veil was not in stock and we were told it would not be ordered until they had enough orders to submit to the manufacturer. We paid $280 in cash. Since then, my daughter has chosen her gown elsewhere, and we respectfully asked that the transaction be canceled since no veil had been ordered, nothing was in their possession, and no product was received. Unfortunately, Norman Bridal has refused. Their only offer was to let her pick out a different veil, but they do not carry the style she wants, and their "no refund" policy is being applied even when there is literally nothing to return. What makes this even more frustrating is that they have now stopped responding to my emails. Instead of helping us resolve this situation, we are left with silence and a store credit we cannot use. This is especially disappointing given the sentiment behind the purchase -- a gift from a great-grandmother who is no longer with us. Instead of being able to honor that gesture, we're left feeling like $280 of family meaning and memory is being held hostage by a rigid policy. I would caution other families to be very careful here. Read the fine print, and know that even if they haven't ordered or provided the item, they will not give you your money back -- and they may stop responding once you question it.
