I had the big breakfast. The eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked and the potatoes came out yummy. It also came with a pancake and it was sooo good. The pancake was the best. One friend had the vegetarian tartine. It was flavourful and nourishing. It could have had more cheese but he would love to have it again. Another one had the Eggs Florentine. She said it was a luxurious mouthful and would get again. I highly recommend the this place for breakfast. The staff were friendly and place had a cozy vibe. Love it.

The K salad was refreshing, light and unique and complimented the entree perfectly. A special shout out to the staff Elaina and Holly, for their excellent service. By the end of it all we were tired and hungry and looking for healthy. We ended up driving back and stopped in Cobourg as it was a good sized town and had to have some decent eateries. We looked up places to eat and Cobourg diner seemed to have a lot of choices ... especially since I was keen on having a healthy salad. The server was excellent - friendly, funny, and made us feel right at home. When I saw liver on the last page of the menu, I was sold. So was my friend. It was excellent and a rather large portion. I'd definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

Not impressed by first visit…read more Went with a group of 9 for lunch. We had a reservation. We were not the only group, but I believe, the largest. One server in the entire restaurant, and he was also the bartender. Too much for only one person to be able to manage. By the time half of us were able to place our drink orders, the other half had already ordered and been served their drinks. Caesars were mostly ice, with very little "Caesar". Two of us were excited to order liver, bacon, and onions as we rarely see it on menus. Plates arrived with liver, (garlic?) mashed potatoes, one piece of broccoli, one piece of cauliflower, and extremely undercooked carrots that neither of us could eat as they were so hard. There was only a very passing acquantance with onions, with only a couple of visible bits of onion in the gravy on my plate. Both plates were delivered with steak knives. My slices were very thin and extremely tough. When you can barely manage to cut through a thin piece of liver with a steak knife, that's a problem. The woman beside me, who had also ordered liver, thoughly enjoyed hers, and said it was tender and delicious. I will agree with "delicious", as I couldn't fault the flavour. Mine, however, was far from being tender. I had to fight to cut through it, even with the steak knife. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal. Not sure I would try Railside again if ever in the area.

This is on top of my list of favourite spots to dine at in the downtown core of Port Hope. I have gone for both brunch and dinner here. Service has been excellent on the first visit. My friend ordered a seafood linguini and I ordered a stuffed Yorkshire - (a stuffed Yorkshire with slices of roast beef smothered with gravy, with mashed potatoes and vegetables on the side). It was excellent. Portions are enormous - everything can honestly be shared. The second visit was during dinner. After a few minutes of debating what to order, I decided to go for the supreme chicken Marsala. The chicken breast was stuffed with spinach, goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes - with a creamy Marsala mushroom wine sauce smothered all over. I enjoyed the dish, but was a little thrown off with the tomatoes, and found the mashed potatoes to be too salty this time. I was the only customer dining in that night, and the bartender was pleasant, although she was talking on the phone while working. I understand it wasn't busy, and it could be with management, but regardless, it is unprofessional to make calls while customers are present. The third and fourth visit - service and food were excellent. This is definitely a great spot to go to with a big group of friends (or by yourself).
