Due to a severe storm in Greenville, TX, on June 19, 2019, a huge tree limb crashed onto my mom's…read morehouse, damaging her roof. Her insurance agent gave her Bret Hollon's (Hollon Custom Homes) contact info. Bret came to the house and met with my mom and me. He seemed great. We felt comfortable with him, so he and my mom signed a contract to replace her roof. He said he needed $4,200 up front for materials but agreed to accept the $3k Farmers had advanced her. The work was to be done on Thurs, 7/11. On Monday, 7/8, I called Bret to make sure all was good to go for my mom. He then told me he was going to need to get paid the remaining $5,700 in full on the day of the job. I told him my mom hadn't received the rest of the insurance, and wouldn't until the work was done, and she would pay him as soon as Farmers issued the check (as is written in Hollon's contract he had my mom sign AND as is the industry norm for the roofing business). He said he couldn't do that, he had to get paid in full that day, and, unbelievably, asked if I could loan her the money. I told him he needed to do the job as agreed or refund my mom her money. He said if he did that he would have to charge her a 25% material restocking fee, which I said was not agreeable. He then called the referring agent and the claims adjuster, who both told him his approach was not normal. The day the job was supposed to be done, I went to my moms house, knowing there was a good chance there would be issues. Sure enough, about 8:30 am Bret called my cell, chuckling over standing us up and "sticking to his guns." I again told him he needed to come do the job he had contracted to do. He said he had talked to his lawyer and would do the job if my mom would sign an assignment of benefits. We declined, citing the fact that she had already signed his contract (and so had he), and she had already paid him $3k. He said he'd have to talk to his lawyer again and get back to us the following week. All the while, all we wanted was for him to either do the work or refund her money. Eventually, after talking to the Farmers agent yet again, Bret Hollon agreed to refund my mom's money and walk away, and he finally refunded my mom $2,800 of her $3k (withholding $200 for a 1 sq ft piece of tarp he had put over a small hole in the roof), with Farmers graciously making her whole on the remaining $200. As an interesting post-script, when we finally found a reliable roofer, the materials Bret Hollon claimed he needed $4,200 for, cost right at $3k.

Bret was easy to work with and communicative each step of the way. I knew I could trust him to get the job done and to do it well. When he examined the fence and the insurance adjuster's recommendations, he discovered extensive additional storm damage to a brick wall connected to the fence. He worked tirelessly to negotiate with our insurance company, and even pushed them to send a second insurance adjuster out to reassess the damage. We had the worst time trying to get answers from our insurance company, but Bret repeatedly called and emailed with them to advocate on our behalf. Ultimately we were successful and received additional funds to complete some very costly repairs. On my own, I would not have known to push back so hard and probably would have given up, so I'm thankful Bret was there to help move the process along. His roofing team completed our roof in one day and did a great job. A couple of days after the roof was put on, I realized that a piece of debris had fallen into the duct that connects to my kitchen range vent/fan thing, but Bret personally returned as soon as possible to clear it out. We've had a rainstorm since the new roof was put on and everything is watertight! I will be recommending Hollon Custom Homes to any of my friends or coworkers who need repairs or remodeling. Bret is honest, hardworking, and committed to making sure any project associated with his name is done well.

In summary, Cory outsourced the entire project to CMS Construction - Sixto Mondragon - who did an absolutely TERRIBLE job - and did not even finish the project. The concrete they poured was unevenly finished and inconsistent. Their framers are also their trim carpenters - among other duties - none of which they seem to be very skilled at. They did not install proper concrete footers for the patio extension - didn't add any base before pouring concrete on the new driveway - installed tongue and groove without staggered spacing (meaning all boards started and stopped at the same place) - installed an awning with nearly no slope and put shingles on its roof and that is just a part of the mistakes. During the project, the subcontractor was telling us he didn't have money to continue with the project while Cory was saying that we had to work it out with the subcontractor. It was a complete mess. Cory only came to the jobsite twice - during two months. Cory sent a text terminating the contract. We had to tear out all of the concrete they poured (which was three full truckloads) - remove most of the cedar tongue and groove they had improperly installed - tear out all of the stone fireplace they improperly installed - replace about 25% of the brick they had laid - and add footers to the concrete patio extension to prevent the slab from cracking. Please - don't do business with this company. It's the luck of the draw - since they sub out all / most of their work - whether you get a good sub that will do a good job or not. And you definitely cannot count on Cory to be there to manage or warranty their work. Just look at the attached pics of the "quality" of work that was performed by Ultimate Choice. Ready Roofing(RR) is a front for criminals, fronting as roofers. One of their employees is Mason…read moreForeman. Foreman did a presentation on a laptop, intentionally skipping pertinent information and documents. Foreman then fraudulently, superimposed my signature on a document(lien) I did not sign and never knew existed. RR took months to complete my roof due to their excuses and delays. Afterwards, RR left packs of shingles in front of my garage for two months, they were supposed to be removed in a few days. There were two separate times, I did not hear from RR for over 30 days. RR always has an excuse for their over promising and under producing! I would love to include pictures of my new garage door and the interior leak RR was supposed to fix, but after six months of lies, delays, and fraud, I informed RR that due to their breach of contract, I was severing business ties with them. Foreman stated that, this is my fault, and that I have to use RR to complete the project. Ready Roofings lies, unprofessionalism, and fraudulent behavior are not my fault! While I already knew this, I do not have to, and I am not using RR to complete the project. RR has stated they are filing a lien(with a fraudulent superimposed signature) on my house, as well as, theft of services charges. I'm looking forward to my day in court! EXAMPLE OF READY ROOFING'S UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT: I own a two story home. An internal leak started upstairs. RR sent contractors to repair the leak downstairs. I stated to the contractor, When it rains, due to gravity, the leak from upstairs is going to travel downwards and ruin this repair, why are you not upstairs, where the leak originated? An argument ensued and I had to literally tell the contractor to get out of house, twice. The contractor did $300.00 worth of damage to the Scribe Molding in my kitchen, which I have not been compensated for. I contacted Foreman and his response was, you will have to file another claim. No, I will not file another claim. I will use a reputable company moving forward. I have several other documented examples of Foreman and Ready Roofings lies, unprofessionalism, and fraudulent behavior! I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH READY ROOFING AGAIN! I WOULD SUGGEST YOU DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH READY ROOFING, UNLESS YOU WANT LIES, EXCUSES, DELAYS, AND FRAUDULENT BEHAVIOR!
