Normally when I go to a fast food restaurant, I don't expect much. I expect the food to be the standard for the chain, and the service to be the standard as well... That is what I usually run into.
Not this time.
This time was different, hilariously enjoyably different.
We drove up and opted to dine inside... It had been a long day (we started way the heck up in Helen, Georgia, and ended up here for dinner before making our way home down in Gainesville afterwards, so we were tired and just looking for a bite to eat). The store was clean, and looked newly renovated, so that was nice.
However, what we ran into was chaos... not at the fault of the manager and her one(!) helper, but at the line of cars outside that had apparently just arrived and ordered a ton of food through the drive-thru lanes. Our poor server Sam (I really hope I got her name right!) was going ballistic taking orders, getting them organized, and sending them back to the manager who was doing all of the preparing in the back (except for fries). She handled it like a pro!
Yeah, our food took a while to come out, but that was completely understandable given the situation. The show though was the best thing we had seen all week! We got our order in (just a simple pair of chicken sandwiches and fries) and then sat back and waited while watching all of the semi-organized chaos.
Eventually our food came out, which was fine, and the food was fair, exactly what I expected it to be. The chaos continued to some level but was finally dying down... right up until the drive-thru alarm that was telling Sam (again, apologies if I have that name wrong!) when a car drove into the lane started going off... EVERY FIVE SECONDS. No one was there, the alarm pad was just very very confused... and it couldn't be turned off. Multiple attempts were made, even driving a scooter over it, to no avail. We had just finished our food, so I volunteered to drive over it and see if that would do the trick. As I pulled around to the window, there was much thanks to us as it did work, and a much relieved Sam came up with a surprise reward of an apple pie.
So, yeah... the food was exactly what I expected, but the show was so much worth it! If I could give six or seven stars, I would. It was just that good! read more
