My sister rented a storage unit recently to house some of my late mother's furnishings while readying her house for sale. The office representative was very gracious and informative, she spend time with us showing various available unit sizes so we could choose the proper size. If I could give ZERO stars for this business I would. The only reason is the front desk staff. I didn't even bother to get her name because she was so snide and spoke AT me with a condescending tone. I simply had on question and she responds with sarcasm. The first time I heard that the office staff was rude, I didn't want to believe it. I had my household items shipped from Cali and when the truck driver arrived at the facility before me, he went in to ask the front desk for where was the best place to park his big rig until I arrived. Once I met with the driver he informed me of how badly he was treated. The front desk staff made him feel EXTREMELY unwelcome. NOW I SEE WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. On a different note, (if you can get passed the front desk attitude) the property is pretty well maintained. But as a consumer who VALUES customer service, I CANNOT recommend this business. read more

Harbour View Self Storage - Self Storage Near Me - Chesapeake, Virginia

Be prepared for massive head aches. We have been parking our boat at this location for over four years. When we first started using the facility we found getting in and out of the facility is a nightmare due to the permanent community garage sale hosted on site every Saturday and Sunday. Vendors occupy most of the spaces and run antique or thrift stores from the units, closing the isles with display tables, furniture and vehicles on every Saturday or Sunday. The vendors and management are not very understanding when I need to pull my truck and boat through the isles. I have ended up being yelled at on may occasions by the vendors for pulling a trailer down an isle to get to the gate or back trailer parking lot. The pedestrian gate is wide open when the facility is hosting the garage sales so the facility's security and the reason for having a gate is completely negated so vendors can sell merchandise. In January 2013 we showed up to find our locked/secured trailered boat had been moved from our assigned spot without any notification or permission. The trailer had some minor damage from what I would guess was being dragged by a forklift. The manager adamantly denied it had been moved until I showed her a picture from a week before of the trailer in the correct location. Eventually management claimed that there was an auction held on site and the auction company must have moved it, it was not Harbour View Self Storage fault. We never received an apology or any sort of credit for the issue just lots of excuses passing the buck. This week I went to work on my boat Monday morning without any issues or notifications posted. I returned Monday afternoon and the was a sign posted that the gate would be closed Tuesday and Wednesday for the facility to have a seal coat applied. Upon returning Thursday the gate was closed again. Trying to complain or ask for a credit was useless. The on site manager just passed the buck for having the facility closed with less than 24 hours notice or any advanced notice at all. Asking to speak with a supervisor or owner is met with a smile and a no. The final straw for me is when she said its not her responsibility to notify customers if the facility is closed. I have had many issues of the past four years with the facility and each time they act like teflon and pass the buck to someone else. There is a complete lack of customer service or appreciation for their customers. We will be relocating to another storage facility to be done with the head aches of Harbour View Self Storage. read more
