If I could give zero stars I would. I went for an eyebrow wax and they took off half my eyebrows, when I had asked for a clean up. The girl argued with me and said that it wasn't that long before, when I said that I had a picture of before, she changed her story to my eyebrow was too thin and didn't look nice, so it looked better with half missing. There was no apology given, there was no discount given for their error. They also do a terrible and rushed job with nails. I feel like I had to 5 star this place to make up for the low star reviews. I had a shellac manicure last week, then two days later returned for a shellac pedicure. The owner did my pedicure and another one of the girls did the mani. I'm not sure what the issue is, I had none. Pretty standard around the board, and the prices were great - $30 for the manicure and $40 for the pedicure. Both look excellent. The colour selection is pristine, tons to choose from. I don't really have any complaints. The service was done pretty quickly and I was able to read during the service. I will be back as its conveniently beside my condo as well. read more

I've used this salon a few times and never really had a problem once I walked in and they said it would be 20 min which I appreciated because I'm used to nail salons telling me it will be 5 min and then waiting for an hour. Today I called to make sure there was space and they said yes come over in 5 min. When I got there the shop was full and there were 3 people waiting in front of me. They asked me to sit down which I did for 20 min. Noticing that nobody was close to being done and realizing I would probably be there for another 20 before getting my nails started I walked out. Nobody even looked up or acknowledged. I walked up the street to Organic Nail Bar where I was welcomed immediately and got a cheaper polish change. Just be honest if someone calls and say it will be an hour. I will be taking my business to ONB up the street from now on. read more

So disappointed with this place. The girl who did my pedicure is so shit. Filed my nails uneven. Both feet don't look the same. Polish was sloppy. I did shellac and still it was not good at all. She didn't clean the whole nail area properly. She rushed. Just all around bad pedicure. I went in yesterday, showed a photo of how I wanted my nails done, and was asked to come back at a specific time because there was one girl that could do gel tips and she had just taken a customer. No problem. I came back 45 minutes later and showed the girl the photo of what I wanted. She asked me if I wanted to do a gel overlay instead of tips and I asked her if she could make the gel overlay look like the photo (I had one broken nail and the rest were slightly different lengths). She said she couldn't and I declined the overlay saying that I want my nails to look like the photo. A few minutes into the manicure, a woman with a wax appointment came in and my girl left for 10 minutes to wax her. When she came back to the table she asked "what colour" and I showed her the photo of the ombré French manicure once again. She then told me she couldn't do it because the airbrush machine is broken - after she had already started my hands and clipped my nails as short as she needed them. Um okay, so a regular French manicure it is. After she put on the tips, she cut/filed them and asked how long I wanted it. I asked for a bit shorter and a bit rounder than the test nail she had done. She laughed and said I should have stuck with my natural nails then. Haha. Lastly, at the end of the appointment, she told me the debit is down and asked me to walk across the street to the gas station to take out money (which I did and regret). End result - instead of a Pinterest worthy ombré French manicure, I ended up with a basic French manicure with super pointy tips. Picture a white wizards hat. I live in the neighbourhood and went to check out this place. I felt a little uncomfortable when I noticed the woman pulling files out of a tub. Aren't those supposed to be new every time? If clippers etc are coming out of a tub they can't be sanitized. I didn't say anything. I wondered what the point was as I did not hear any English aside from 'what colour' and 'you pay cash'. I also live in the neighbourhood and with them being so close I frequent them quite often. First thing is first. Everyone I know and myself included HATE the owner. I think her name is lily. I think she only works there a few days a week and I try to avoid those days. Lol. I know it's common at nail salons for them to up sale. But the owner here is always trying to pressure me and up sale me. Even going as far as to ask why I don't want to after I've said no a few times. So one star off for that unprofessional behaviour. Another star off because she's done my nails and has made me wait while she goes and waxes other people. HELLO. FINISH MY NAILS IF YOUVE STARTED ALREADY. And word of advice, don't be shy about expressing your feelings to her. I told her how I felt and she's never done it again. Another time I came in for a manicure with shellac and she told me to pick a colour. After 20 mins of waiting someone came to do my nails. I'm fine that I had to wait because I was a walk in. At least tell me there's a wait of 20 mins. Don't tell me to "pick a colour" and make me wait curious if I'll be serviced in 5 or 20 mins later. That's like a pet peeve for me so I told her she's needs to do a better job at managing the appointments and walk ins. Anyways. That's the bad so far. On to the good. Aside from the owner the other girls as pretty good. They are nice and friendly. Most of them are limited in English but I seem to get the message across when I want my nails short and square. There's one girl there that's fluent in English and is really good but I don't know what her name is, she's always busy. I think they take turns so everytime I go in I get someone different. I've seen people request certain girls so maybe I'll try that next time. They have a lot of shellac colours and regular colours. I haven't had fake nails done there so I can't review them on that. But they seem to do a good job. My shellac last more than a week for me which is pretty good since I've been told I have oily nail beds. I've over heard some girls saying their shellac last two weeks. So I'm hoping one day my nails will last that long too. But I highly doubt that. Hahaha. They also seem pretty clean. I've been the last client (I felt bad since I had to make the girl stay 30 mins after close) before closing and I've seen the girls start sweeping and mopping and wiping everything done. So I haven't had any problems with fungus or infection. Plus it gives me some security that they have that green pass certificate in the window. Anyways sorry for the long review. I have been to many nail salons across the city. But today I'm not writing this review to comment so much on the nails but on the behaviour of the staff. This salon is staffed by a mainly Vietnamese team however there is one Iranian woman working there. I have twice watched the other women, including the owner, be disrespectful, rude and prevent her from equal opportunity. I don't know this woman, it it horrific to watch. I will also be making a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. The first time i saw this staff in the salon, I was there for a mani/pedi. The wonder did my mani while the woman did my pedi. First of all the entire time the staff spoke in Vietnamese, only stopping to bark orders at her. The owner quite rudely told her where to sit, how to work, and then turned to me to complain about this staff, in English within close proximity of this poor woman. Plus the owner's mani was one of the worst I've ever had. The second time, the owner wasn't there, but much of the same. This time I was there for only a manicure and was being helped by this Iranian staff person. She did a good job and was sweet, although slower then I would have liked. I watched her as her coworkers took all the walking and left her with no work (although it was clearly her turn to take a client), micromanage her workstation including the order of her tools, bark at her when her chair was in their way (she was left to work at thistle ghetto workstation at the end of the row, that doesn't have the same amenities as the others and is always in the way). After watching that debacle in horror, I'm not surprised this woman isn't traumatized from working at this awful salon. I will not be going back here out of principal. read more

I have been going to this salon faithfully for the past three years. However, I am completed disappointed in Lily - the owner. I had my nails done (shellac as per usual). My manicurist, who is lovely and professional, confessed that Lily referred to me as a"difficult' customer. I pride myself on always being respectful and friendly and indeed, I am always greeted by all the staff with smiles. Lily told the other staff that I only want her doing my services, including my shellac mani-pedi and waxing. FALSE. She does a terrible waxing job and isn't my first choice for nails. She takes the shellac appointments to keep the tips as these manicures are typically more expensive. If you pay cash, the manicurist who did the mani-pedi or other service, gets the tip. If you pay by credit or debit, Lily gets 50%! Even if she didn't do anything for you! I have now resolved to go elsewhere for my services and highly recommend The 10Spot on Queen West (especially for waxing services). Lily is deceptive and greedy - her staff do not respect her and must tolerate her questionable business ethics because they need employment. read more

I don't even know what to say- I was here on a Sat a few weeks ago and the lady that did my nails was so lovely I was convinced to abandoned my usual place and come back here. My experience this visit was ridiculous- 1- I walked in, there were 3 techs, one other person waiting to be serviced I asked what the wait was, was told 15 minutes and to pick a colour sit down. I did as I was told, long story short- it took 20 minutes before I was told to soak off my shellac, it took another 25 minutes before someone starting attending to my nails, by this point I had scraped off all my shellac on my own. She starts to do my manicure and clips too low and I start to bleed- she keeps going until I tell her to stop, she then apologizes and says it's bc my cuticles are so dry- you left me soaking for 25 minute ofcourse I'm dry!! 2 hours later with a sore cuticle, bad energy and completely upset I finally left- as I go to pay she says, we won't charge you for the take off of the shellac. Wow- learn not to lie to your clients- sadly I won't be back despite living across the street. read more

Went there for the first time yesterday for a regular manicure. The worst service, I would not recommend this nail salon! They kept stopping to accommodate other customers which made them forget some steps in the manicure like buffing. It also resulted in them having to redo one nail because she was distracted and it smudged. Had a terrible experience here. I walked in and it was completely empty except for three workers. It took forever for them to really pay attention to me, and when they did, they banged the nail polish down, eyes averted and then asked for my money. The lady I had held my hands quite tightly and jerked my fingers about- it was painful. I walked out feeling like I had just paid for drugs instead of a polish change. I was hesitant about going to this salon because of some the negative reviews. It is so convenient because of the location and I did see some 5 stars so I thought I would give it a try. I am so glad I did!!! The woman who did my nails was quick but also precise. Also, majority of the people in there were regulars which is a great sign for me. The colour selection was excellent. I would recommend calling ahead and making a reservation. Don't give up if the phone rings awhile before someone answers. They don't have someone working on the desk so it has to be someone working to walk over.I went around 5 and it was super busy they were turning people away. (which is not bad.. I have seen places take on more people than they can handle and you don't get the service you should) They also provide a stamp card so after 8 manicures you get a free one (regular, not shellac). They also did 3 coats of colour and I know many places only do 2 or charge extra for the 3rd. For removal and manicure it was $30.. great price! Will go back for sure! read more

Worst experience ever - I went to get my acrylic nails removed which I had done from other salon. When the staff was removing it she hurt my original nail and it started paining. When I tried explaining her that my original nail is getting spoiled and is paining she completely ignored and started behaving quite rudely. She did not accept her mistake and said my nail is like that only. She went inside and spoke to receptionist and as I went to pay and showed receptionist my nail she also said the same thing and on top of that she said because I don't want to pay that's why I am doing this. I've been here a few times. The staff are very into sales and rude. First few times I did manicure and eyebrow and the service was rushed. Yesterday I went for a pedicure and once I said I don't want shellac, they rushed me and the women stared talking in their language. These people are rude and unprofessional - I would go so far as to say cruel. I explained that my finger nails are extremely sensitive and painful,l but I wanted my shellac removed and redone. The technician said she understood what I wanted. The pain was intense and I flinched a few times and decided that I was not going to redo the gel. When I was ready to leave, I was told the machine was not working and that I would have to pay with cash instead. The technician walked behind me mimicking my cry of pain. Bizarre. read more

The staff were not very friendly. As an outer towner, I was expecting friendly service like every other business in Toronto. The staff had a few customers so I was okay with waiting. My niece and I wanted a pedicures so we sat in the chairs. We asked to soak our feet while we wait and were told just to wait. We continued to be ignored for 10 more minutes. We walked out and not one person tried to rectify the situation. I can't help but to think that they were so attentive to there white patrons and ignored their black ones. I have been here many, many times as I live in the area. The employees are happy, you can tell they like what they do. They always have given me great service. I'm a nurse so my feet at often in rough shape when I arrive and they always look like a million bucks. The owner does services, she really cares about the quality of services there, and it shows. I walked in with no appointment saturday around noon. The place was packed, every seat full. I got the next spot as someone left, only had to wait 5 mins as they had about 5 employees on. My cuticles are HORRIBLE, all broken and cracked and icky. They made me feel really comfortable and not embarrassed and made my fingers and nails look amazing! Plus the price, omg. SOO cheap. They're really professional and friendly. I didn't meet the owner I don't think, but all the employees seemed happy and talkative with their clients. Will definitely return. read more

I have two completely separate reviews for two of their services. First: my shellac manicure. I have absolutely no complaints. The girl who did them was not very social (i dont think she spoke English very well), but i'm not really concerned about having a conversation during a manicure. They had a myriad of different colors, and she spent a good amount of time doing my nails so that they were done carefully. I was very pleased with the outcome. My second review is the bikini wax. The woman who did this I think was the owner, she was a bit older and really abrupt and unfriendly. I was laying on the table and suddenly she reaches over with her stick of hot wax and just starts slapping it on basically. There was absolutely no particular direction that she was putting it on, just getting wax everywhere. The entire time she was doing it, she kept trying to upsell me to a Brazilian (and even as I was paying she tried to get me to do a Pedicure...). I don't know why I keep coming back here. I think it's because I live in the same building and I'm too lazy to go further. They are rude unless you're a regular they recognize. I've come here enough that I would be considered a regular, but they are still rude to me. It doesn't matter if you make an appointment. The salon seemed clean and the job done on my nails was fine, but the attitude and rudeness of the girl doing them was a whole different story. The entire time I was made to feel like I was annoying and unwelcome. Usually when I treat myself to a manicure, I go to Organic Nail Bar just up Bathurst but I got off the streetcar at Fleet Street and walked past and figured I would give this place a try. The girl that did my nails ignored me every time I spoke to her, didn't make eye contact even once, rolled her eyes when I asked for my nails to be cut shorter instead of filed - sorry, I like my nails short! It's not like I asked her to redo anything, I made the request before she even started. She didn't say a single word to me the entire time I sat there and then once my final layer of shellec was on, got up and walked away. After 10 minutes of sitting there, watching the news and letting my shellac dry (?!), I got up and started putting my coat on, and she came over and moisturized my hands, sighing the whole time. They do not sterilize their tools! The lady wiped the cuticle clippers with a tiny piece of paper towel that was wet, I thought the tools were already clean and this was just to remove any dust floating around. At the end of my mani pedi she just through the tools she used back into her plastic box that had other tools in it that she never used on me. There was only one sterilization "oven" visible and it wasn't been used. The Health department should definitely visit this salon regularly!!! I stopped going here about a year ago and today I realized why. Out of convenience I decided to go get a shellac mani. I ended up with gel overlay even thought I said I don't want to look like I have fake nails. The shape was so crooked and terrible I ended up filing it myself. It looked so unsymmetrical and I already had a beautiful shape! She didn't even need to reshape it! The best part is I wanted a French manicure. Well apparently only one person knows how to do it there and it was the most awful French I've ever seen. Looked like I did it was my left hand as a right handed person. I rarely complain or leave bad reviews but I asked her to take it off because I hated it. She kept trying to fix it and it kept looking worse. Then the other girls who worked there were trying to convince me that it looked nice. In the event I have a nail emergency I will overpay at organic nails down the road but at least they do a great job. Had a bad feeling about going back after having had a botched manicure. And rightfully so, this time around I went for underarm waxing. As I was checking the area after the beautician said she was done, I was in shock over how many hairs were left as I frequently go for waxing but had hardly ever experienced such poor of a job done before. When pointing it out to the beautician, she claimed she didn't see anything left and very reluctantly started re-applying wax. While she managed to eventually finish the first arm somewhat ok, she was very reluctant to remove the remaining hairs from my second arm, telling me that my time was up. When I asked her to get another colleague of hers with better eye sight, she pulled a terrified customer into the room to have a look! I persisted that she get one of her professional colleagues and eventually she got the owner who practically ushered me out of the room. As I got home, I had to remove remaining hairs myself, something I have only experienced once before at another salon in another city and when I brought that to the attention of the manager of that salon, I got a full refund. Given the owner's of Harbour Nails reaction to my valid complaint, I doubt that it will be the outcome this time around and thus, I can't recommend the service here to anyone, whether it actually be professional services or this salon's customer care. As I am new the neighbourhood, I am very glad to discover there are other salons with better ratings close by as I don't think I will ever set foot again in Harbour Nails although it were an emergency. read more
