It is also a stones throw away from a pub and a Lidl.

A young man, Robert, owns the B&B and does an excellent job making it and you feel at home. The room we had was nice and clean, with its own bathroom, and the bed was very comfortable. The location is great, walking distance to everything (though Dingle is not a very large town). On the second day we were there, while my husband was golfing and I was trying to decide what to do, Robert made up a pot of coffee with cookies and pastries and sat with me for a bit just to chat and relax. He also helped us with which pubs were "authentic" and gave us some recommendations on restaurants. The breakfast was fantastic, though I cannot finish a full Irish breakfast to save my life, and the coffee was perfect. We intend to return to Dingle (as it was our favorite place in Ireland) and will definitely stay at this B&B again.

I was welcomed with a lovely chat over tea and a scone by the innkeeper Rosaleen O'Leary! I really appreciated her taking time to get to know me and share her thoughts on Irish history and culture. My room was good sized, appealing and a great value. Showers were hot with good water pressure. The gardens on the property were just gorgeous - imagine Secret Garden type plantings. My stay included a complete hot Irish breakfast with lots of coffee, eggs and Irish bacon - similar to a fried ham. Mmmm. I enjoyed a morning walk down the road to Ross Castle, which I highly recommend. Who knew the advancements in medieval architecture and defense? Ross Castle Lodge B&B is adjacent to the Killarney National Park, and one may walk through the park to get to the 'town' of Killarney where you'll find lots of restaurants, pubs & shops. Booking was easy via email. Walkable distance to town and the train station - but a cab is easier for arrivals! It's just outside the small village of Banteer, and around 17km west of the town of Mallow in north Co. Cork. Agherton Lodge is a 2-storey detached house in a very striking setting, so much so that you feel like you're the lord or lady of the manner staying in this environment, in a pleasant ranch-like way. A really nice lady who was originally from the north welcomed us the early evening we arrived, and she very kindly laid us out tea, coffee & biscuits in the open plan front room, which was much appreciated. There were spacious solid wood floors throughout, (good for my asthma), it all looked both spotlessly clean & new, as well as warm & inviting. There were 4 of us, 1 woman, 3 blokes, staying in 3 rooms. Our 'boss' and only girl each had spacious double rooms to themselves, I shared an equally spacious twin room with the other guy. It was €35 each, which I felt was very good for this standard of accommodation. The bedrooms were fantastic, bright, breezy & cheerful, all with ensuite. The doubles have a lovely indulgent looking bath. Jo was so impressed she photographed hers! The beds, even the singles were blissfully comfortable. My room had a superb south facing view of fields, trees & rolling hills in the background and horses,(very frisky horses), in the foreground, with big french windows that opened onto a balcony. It was just so lovely & peaceful standing on the balcony & watching the horses frolic around, on a lovely mild evening in October, and relaxed me completely before a show I was doing at the nearby Glen Theatre. After a bit of a drink with the generous guys at The Glen, the B&B was equally welcoming at night. It was quiet season I should stress, and it was just us 4 in residence, but bearing in that the mind the couple running it had a son, & a very friendly dog, we were given loads of space, and truly felt it was ours! Breakfast next morning was to an equally high standard, and generous. I always love places that don't seem like guesthouses but places that you feel, well at home in, and we all definitely felt at home here. Real 5 star quality, and a lovely place to base yourself if you want to explore Cork & Kerry by car.

I would recommend trying to get there during the daylight. We also were VERY late for check-in and our phones were not working with the international plan we purchased. I was so worried by the time we got there she would have gone to bed. But we were able to call from a nearby pub, The Marina Inn (see my review), and Denise was waiting up for us. Luckily we were the only guests staying with her that night so she let us decide when to have breakfast. We opted for 10 a.m. and I think all parties were glad to get some extra sleep after a late night. (Even though we arrived around 10:00 p.m. she was kind enough to offer tea or coffee.) Denise really went above and beyond with breakfast. (I will upload many pictures of the presentation and style of her food.) We had two excellent breakfasts in Ireland and this was one of them. From the fresh homemade scones to the endless coffee, it was the perfect way to start the meal. *Nothing is more incredible than waking up to the serene Dingle countryside and having a 3 course breakfast prepared for you. 1st Scones $ Soda Bread, 2nd: Homemade Granola and Yogurt or Porridge, 3rd: your choice off the menu. I had the special pancake with fresh fruit and my date had the full irish breakfast. Everything was incredible and we started the day very satisfied and full. She has two adorable cocker spaniels and a sweet cat named "Becky." If you love/ miss your pets, they will make you smile! Quick note: Do NOT use your GPS to find this place. It is MUCH easier to just follow Denise's instructions from Dingle town. (We learned that the hard way.) We will certainly be back and next time arrive earlier and do the dinner that she has for an additional option. She is an excellent cook!

Upon arrival, we were greeted with coffee and tea (and with puppy snuggles from Roma!); Mary was also quick to give us a short orientation of where we were located, recommended hikes in the national park and more. She was also incredibly helpful in helping us get reservations for our grandmother's 80th birthday. (Including recommendations on where to get a cake and balloons in town!) The location itself is fantastic - you can walk to a few short hikes - and you're only a short drive from some of the more popular hikes in Killarney National park. Then, you're only five or so minutes from downtown Killarney and a variety of restaurants, pubs, and entertainment. The rooms were clean and large! I don't know what sheets they use, but they were so comfortable and soft. They cleaned the rooms once a day. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! First, there is always a cold buffet - with granola, cereal, various fruits and pastries. The scones and jam were my absolute favorite! Then, there is also a hot menu to order from, which includes a full Irish breakfast, crepes, banana fritters, and more. We were the only people staying, so they didn't have an issue with us monopolizing the sitting room late at night, playing games and enjoying drinks. John took the time to tell us about all of our options while in Killarney, and his suggestion for the day trip to Gap of Dunloe ended up being my favorite part of our trip! The location is a little off the beaten path, not really walking distance to bars and restaurants but only a 5 min drive. I personally loved how quiet it was, and the views are amazing! My only small complaint is that the room felt a little damp, probably because of the weather.

Thank goodness my brother told us about this island. It's the largest of the Aran Island (where the…read moreAran sweater is from) and was one of the best places I visited in my two months of travelling in Europe. It's actually one of my favorite places I've ever been to in my life. Being on the island is probably the romanticized Ireland that we all imagine. So just visualize, green hilly fields, views of the ocean, thick "cable knit" sweaters, a Leprechaun House, a bit of mist, a bit of sun and nice smiley people. We booked the b & b through the tourism office in Galway. To get to the island you need to take a bus in Galway to a ferry for a short ride out to the island. When you arrive there are small caravan cars that can take you where you need to go. It cost a few euros per person to take us to the bed and breakfast (b & b). Once we got there we found out that you can pay extra for dinner, which was salmon that night. I'd suggest having dinner there since there is only a pub across the street, which might not be open. Or if the weather is good, you could walk back to town for more choices. The breakfast was typical Irish: bread, jam, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, eggs, potatoes, tea, etc. Our room in the house had a full bathroom, a queen size bed, and balcony. The furniture in the house was homey and cozy, just like being in a friend's house. The island is only 8 miles long, perfect for walking or riding bikes. Unfortunately, the day we got there it was like a hurricane. We spent the afternoon and night in the bed and breakfast watching the wind. The weather cleared up the next day and we walked to Dún Aonghasa, a prehistoric fort. Truly amazing views. We got so taken away by the island that we got back later than expected and missed the last caravan to town to catch the ferry back to Galway. Fortunately, the owners are really nice people, the husband gave us a ride to town and told us about the island and how he and his wife started the b & b. IMPORTANT: The bank on the island is only open one day a week for a limited number of hours, I think Wednesday, so get some cash before going out there. My only regret, is that we didn't spend more time here. But that means I'll just have to go back! I'll upload pictures as soon Yelp lets me.
