I'm leaving a long overdue review for Adam's at-home veterinary services…read more Adam was our regular house-call vet for our Samoyed-Chow mix, who was always a bit too spoiled and generally terrified of going to see the vet. The relationship began way back in 2012, and our girl always treated him like a guest when he arrived. His manner with pups is very calm and professional. Last year, around this time, our girl (14) became suddenly ill and was diagnosed by a local emergency clinic with ruptured hemangiosarcoma tumors. It was a hard decision, but with no good options, we called Adam to have our girl euthanized at home surrounded by her family. Adam went above and beyond, interrupting his weekend schedule to make time for the procedure. He was well prepared, made sure our girl crossed over without incident and gave us time alone before preparing the body for transport. We can't recommend his services any higher, and are forever grateful for his help in navigating a stressful situation.

He listened to me and asked a lot of questions to make sure he understood the situation; made a plan about how to approach the dog and stuck to it; let me do as much of the handling of the dog as possible; ultimately provided short-term sedation to allow a more thorough exam. The news was as bad as I'd feared, and Dr. Behrens was really kind about it, but also direct and clear about the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options, along with the possibility of euthanasia. Sadly, euthanasia was the obvious right choice. Dr. Behrens prescribed medication to ease Jockomo's pain and discomfort, and we were able to provide a few days of "hospice" and quality time. Then Dr. Behrens came back and did the euthanasia procedure, explaining to me and my family what would happen, doing his best to help the dog stay calm, and being quiet and gentle with all of us throughout. So -- if you or your dog dread vet appointments, I highly recommend Dr. Behrens.

Dr. Gina brought such compassion and calm during Toby's final moments. She took her time, treated him with dignity, and supported me well beyond what was expected. The way she gently tucked him in before taking him, with flowers and a soft light in place, made a painful moment feel peaceful. Losing Toby is something I feel every day. Thank you to Dr. Gina and everyone at A Gentle Rest.

We were afraid Gabby's state of pain and discomfort was exponentially increasing and so grateful that we could book online immediately (versus many services which we would have to call and wait for a reply). Dr. Gorczyca was able to arrive within 24 hours, a Sunday morning. He helped advise us on how much to involve our young son (age 9) and gave a really transparent, thoughtful overview of what to expect. Dr. Gorczyca brought so much beauty and care and love to Gabby's last hour with us. We could talk about all of what we loved and remembered about her, which was also helpful for my son to feel involved and start to grapple with the reality of Gabby's passing (which he had been avoiding the feelings of). Dr. Gorczyca read beautiful poems inspired by Gabby's life, and then lead beautiful rituals as said goodbye. Our gratitude to Dr. Gorczyca and A Gentle Rest are beyond words.

We will always have Sam and her Dad watch our boy for any time away (space is limited, so reserve ahead of time). Toonces also has to have an inhaler 2x a day, and she took care of his every need. We are now relaxed going away on vacation knowing he has his "Auntie Sam" and Papa Tom (this is how we now refer to them both), to spend his days while we're away. I knew she was the perfect sitter when she came by for the initial meet and greet and she already remembered their names and their personalities, likes/dislikes, and special needs, based on the write-up I provided. The kitties gave their immediate approval when they came out from hiding and actually greeted her with head bumps and asked for more petting. For cat owners, you know that's the best you can get. My husband and I miss our pets dearly when we go away even for a weekend, but with the daily updates with pictures it provides us with a world of relief so that we can actually relax on vacation.. and I'm a bit of a worry wart too so that says a lot!

They both are treasures. Mary has the intuitive love to connect you with the perfect angel for your dog. Noelle got walked twice a day, sometimes for a 2 hour run up on the trails. When Noelle gets back she lays down with a grin on her face, so happy to have run with her new girlfriends, both Michelle her new best girlfriend and a few other new girlfriend dogs. I'm absolutely amazed how loving and experienced our walker is. I think both Mary and Michelle would be doing this service for dogs even if they there wasn't any money involved. They do this service for the love they have of dogs. Rates are so reasonable. Mary will connect you and your dog with the most suitable walker available. If you are looking for an Angel to make your dog happy, this is just the place. If our world was made up of people like this, we'd be living in heaven on earth. I know that sounds like an exaggeration but it is not. I can't say enough about the care my friends dog has had during an emergency.

Last week when my dog, Chelsea had surgery, Mary (who's trained in veterinary nursing) changed her dressings on her surgery site. gave her lots of extra TLC and made her a box so that Chelsea could still ride around with the doggies (even if she couldn't go for a walk). I know Mary goes on hikes with her dogs daily, sometimes they even swim. Most importantly, she tailors her care to the specific dog (age, temperament, physical limitations). I wouldn't leave my dog with anyone else. You'll love her!
