I just remember coming here very drunk with a friend and just remember a very nice older bartender making sure me and my friends were taken care of and able to get water and light drinks for an end of the night nightcap. Stopped in for a drink on a Saturday night. Only one other patron. Pretty strange I'm thinking considering. Nice looking place, clean, outdoor patio, etc. Then started chatting with the bartender. Clearly not a "people person." One of, if not the most negative bartender I ever encountered. With a new more upbeat and friendly bartender, this place would be a great place to hang out. read more

Here's an interesting Gay bar located on the south side of Milwaukee. At first sight, it looks like a throw back to the 1950's with a vintage neon sign that beckons those to stop inside, only to discover it's a Gay Club, I wonder how many str8 blue collar guys get fooled? I'm sure some stop in here on a Friday night looking for a fish fry! ... but all in all it's a fun place... Homey interior with a unique trait of having the bathroom sink and mirror just outside of the bathroom and in the bar area itself. Is that how it was in the Old West? The bartender on deck was friendly and made some potent drinks to be sure. There is an outside patio that runs adjacent to the buildings long western exterior with nice lighting, plants, and music. The patio setting is desolate urban surrounded by vacant lots, a large commercial bldg. down on the corner and the Milwaukee skyline off in the northern view. It's quiet, private and surely has a nice feel of being so open in the middle of the city. While the bar wasn't very crowded as it was a Tuesday nght... I am sure this place rocks on the weekends. Small neighborhood gay bar in the Walker Point area. I went in for a couple of beers on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed some conversation with the locals who frequent the place. This bar is for older gay men -- 40-somethings and up, from what I could gather and from what I experienced on my short visit here. Very comfortable feel and vibe with a friendly bartender. Full bar with stiff, cheap well drinks and the local brews on tap. read more

I think a more profitable policy would be to either get half off the price of your drink or get charged double for your drinks if you take your shirt off... depending on what is underneath that clothing. A wonderful old building that is a gay bar in this day of age. The place has a vintage look and appears to have a laid back atmosphere. There is not much of Choice of beer selection but I love the building and interior. No doubt many a sailor have made their way here and had fun nights through this place. This bar has been a bar at same location for a hundred years which ,ales it even more cooler. I'm glad to have added this place to my round attempts of all of Mil towns bars. read more

My husband played live music here for a few months, so I would tag along sometimes. It is an old building with some old world charm and a touch of your parent's basement. The patrons and bar tenders are super friendly. Love the free pizza and half priced drinks during happy hour. Men drink for half price if they take their shirts off. It should be men drink half price if they stay dressed. The drinks are cheap and strong anyway. The crowd here is 40s-50s men and some women. There were a couple people in their 20s, but they were literally strung out on street drugs. One of them would not leave my husband or me alone. It was entertaining. Luckily someone picked him up. It is a pretty fun place overall. But this is not the place for clubbing. read more

There were some seriously overserved people at this bar. Pretty dead on a Saturday night. Not worth going to if you are not a local, doesn't really have any fun distinguishing features and for how dumpy it was (which is fine in my opinion for a bar- I'm not eating) the prices did not reflect the decor. Just another Milwaukee bar that looks like your parents basement. The only good thing I can say is that people were friendly and the beer selection was good, but that should be the norm not the exception. read more

Love this joint! I've lived in New York and San Francisco, so I know a thing or two about gay bars. This one is perfect--nice old building in a rustic industrial location, outdoor patio shaded by a big tree, cheap drinks, hard-working, friendly bartenders and sincere, good-hearted customers. The bartender certainly was nice and could tell we were out of towners by how we ordered our drinks. But none the less the prices were good and the music was fun not to mention a nice outdoor patio to just hang out and enjoy our drinks. I don't know if I would frequent this place alone how ever with a group of 6 it was perfect!! read more

What a waste of time this place is! This was our first trip to Wisconsin; while in Milwaukee we looked up the local gay bars on-line. As the Harbor Room received many stars and good reviews we went this past Saturday. The bar is in an old building - one of the few left on the East end of this street. As we wondered how safe it was to park our rental car we saw some older guys depart the bar. As we walked in we felt like stepping back in times assuming that leather bars in the 1970s had this kind of decor. Everything felt old and in serious need of some updating. Almost all chairs at the bar were taken by older gentlemen who seem to frequent this place all the time. We found two seats at the end of the bar and after finally receiving "attention" from the barkeep we ordered two drinks. The bartender quickly turned out to be unfriendly, disinterested to serve us and unskilled to deal with new customers. We asked him if we could start a tab and pay with credit card only to be informed that the minimum on CREDIT CARDS is $20.00. Are you kidding me? We then asked if they had an ATM and he replied: "We are the ATM" explaining that the transaction fee would be $4.00 and the minimum charge would be $50.00. What a scam! Looking around at other patrons I wondered how many of them even had $50.00 available on their bank account and that this scheme was clearly aimed at tourists/ new people. After our one and only round of drinks we paid up (in cash of course). This place nor the bartenders deserve even one star on any rating. This place must have seen better times many many moons ago. If you are looking for a place to go in Milwaukee we suggest you keep up your Google search for a better alternative to spend your money when visiting Milwaukee. read more

My husband and I love this bar...There isn't a night that we leave without making a new friend..We love the bartenders and the owner and his husband are awesome...We only drink Milwaukees best beer ( Pabst ) so in our book there is no other beer.. They do serve other beers though and I will ad. MAN beers .. none of that foofoo stuff.. Pizza? OMG..Awesome pizza..and awesome garlic cheese bread....If you want to see HOT men with their shirts off then keep an eye out on the website for any leather functions at Harbor Room..As I'm writing this review I'm getting ready for a send off party for Mr. Harbor Room to go to IML ...Prices? My husband and I can put away a lot of beer and shots so, we have no complaints. Our tab has never broken us.. Now, if you want to know the history of the building or even the area and the city. The owner can tell you everything.. If you ever get the chance to go in when they are having a celebration or function in which they have food you have to go. The best food you can get. I don't know what the future holds but, in the past it has been no extra charge and no cover charge. even when they have live music. no cover charge. read more
