I enjoy coming to DIX and always have a great time when I do. It's usually on bae crawls or Drag Show nights. I always love the music here and the overall vibe. There is the front bar area and then a back dance floor area with small stage where they have performances. The drinks are regularly priced for MKE and service is usually quick. My friend and I came here on a Saturday night visiting from Chicago and were so happy to find out the night we came it was "Latino night" so they had all of the good Reggaeton and Latin hits playing and the crowd was very diverse. Drinks here are extremely cheap so you don't feel like you're going broke when you go out. DIX is an amazing bar with amazing people working there. Everyone from the bouncer to the bartenders are such nice people. The music is pretty good too. Some nights they can have alright music, but usually they have a good mix of everything to keep the energy going. The big thing to see there is their drag shows or specialty nights (Latin night, for me). The bar has a wide range of drinks for decent prices, especially compared to some bars which price things out of control. For those reasons, regardless of if you're straight, gay, or anything in between, I would recommend this place to anyone that isn't afraid to show some love to the LGBTQ+ community. read more

How can one hate a bar with such a clever name? This was probably the most happening of the gay bars in Milwaukee and had the best looking bartenders. Just like the rest of the city, beers are cheep and cold. What I really enjoyed about this bar other than cute bartenders was the outside patio where one can actually partake in a conversation and be heard and I could retreat back inside and listen to some really good music when I felt like dancing or my California butt couldn't take the cold anymore. read more

While the bar is ok in many respects, I must write to express my disappointment and surprise. My boyfriend and I came here and ordered one set of drinks that added up to 11 total (moderate tap beer and cheap liquor....yay student loans). We got the exact same round; Same beer and liquor an hour later. The price rose to 19?! I was surprised but still spoke kindly and tipped but asked about the cost and received no response. I would expect that price in Chicago. But why Milwaukee and (more importantly) why the change? Why did no one explain it? Was there a change in the price based on time of day? No signs indicated anything. I just expect better service. Otherwise the place is fun and diverse for a summer night. Just be willing to argue for what is yours with sketchy bartenders. read more

Horrible experience I don't even want to give them 1 star Because they don't deserve It. The bartenders that use to work there were amazing. Now that they are gone it has gone downhill. My boyfriend and my best friend went here last night. Sat at a table. On one side of the bar we're about 8 people and the 2 bartenders were there talking and chatting. No drinks being made. I stood about 2 seats from this group with my credit card out trying to get help and the 2 bartenders saw me twice even walked by me. And yet kept going back to the group of guys and just chatting and laughing with them. one of the bartenders even left the bar to talk to one of the customers. All while I was standing there trying to get service. My boyfriend even tried as well. We left without getting served and we're not happy. I will never go there again. And I will be telling all that I know not to go to this establishment and I am on the board of many business groups. They will now know to not go to this place. Great late night dance locale, fun drag shows and, honestly, my favorite Thursday night RuPaul watch party in Milwaukee. Being I'm here most Thursdays, I can speak highly to their drink specials (buy one get one), fantastic bartenders who entertain even the strangest of my requests (which recently was a vanilla vodka + peach vodka + soda), ample t.v. for viewing and a great crowd. I haven't left D.I.X. without meeting AT LEAST one new person I didn't know before that night - and I wouldn't want it any other way. read more

my partner and i met up with some friends here. it was my first time partying in milwaukee and personally, this vibe wasn't for me. very much gave yt gay and didn't feel intersectionally inclusive. i don't know of this is primarily a gay male club, but as a lesbian couple we didn't last for than 10 mins there. music was also trash... edm every single song. also i noticed they didn't mix most of the lady gaga song (which was every other song) and when they finally played something like meg the stallion it was a edm or house mix?! our bartender was a sweetie but that's about all the charm there. read more

I usually go to this bar to drink and have a great time. Tonight, at 1:30 I was refused service. I know the owner, Liz, and still was refused entrance to this bar. He claimed I was drunk, but I was not. I tried to convince him otherwise, but he continued to let others in. This man told me his name was Dan. I told him that I would be writing this review based on his prejudice. I have been coming here for years, but will NEVER come here again. I used to love this bar for its acceptance, but now? I see it is just like every other bar out there. Thank you, but I'll never be promoting this bar again. When others are admitted and other refused? Not okay. I understand if one is drunk and should go home, but one that wants to patronize your bar? Sorry. But I'll find another place to spend my money. Peace and love. read more
