It was not until the last 6 months that I really appreciated how convenient and helpful the store is. I started remodeling my office and found my self heading to Ace almost on a daily basis for one thing or another. Sometimes a small .50 items and other times a larger item like a snow blower. What ever I was searching for the staff has always been helpful. There was the one time I was attempting to direct connect my coffee maker to my kitchen water supply. After 4 visits the staff member suggested that I might want to take a picture of what I was trying to do and he would help me identify what I needed. I did what he suggested, took the picture, and the items he suggested and instructions he provided did the trick! This is a neighborhood store so they might not have all of the items of big box store. But there is something nice about being remembered by the staff...even if it is because I'm the guy who takes 2 or 3 times to get the items to complete a single task.

Only thing I would like for Menards to work on is getting him a better saw so he's able to cut the trunks easier. He was given this little blade that was very difficult for him to cut the tree trunks with. He stated he's not allowed to use power tools because of being under 18. Menards, give him a saw with a stronger blade at least. That thin blade was extremely flimsy. Everything else was great though. ***clap***

We're in the thick of a bunch of home improvement projects as we gear up to move into our home…read more While we can count on Menards to have things we need to do these projects, with endless options of light fixtures, light bulbs, faucets and more the options are rather limited. We recently came by in the need of a medium size crow bar to remove some flooring and when we looked they had a super tiny one or a really large one. When we asked for help to see if we were just missing a potential location to look the staff was a bit stand off ish and said we can just walk around and look to see if we can find what we are looking for. We ended up actually walking around thinking we missed a big section of crow bars but those were actually the only 2 sizes they carried. While it is a home improvement store, they do have quite the array of non perishables, and pet selection. From dry goods, to frozen items there seemed to have been tons and tons of options for those. :) All in all, we're glad to have a Menards close by just wished it had a bigger variety of items for us to pick up what we need.

Gary at the service department is amazing and friendly. He really knows his stuff. He walked me through the process they didn't have my key fob on hand so he order the part and I came back a week later for him to cut the key and program everything. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes and everything works great. I'm a satisfied customer.

Very disappointing experience with recent policy changes at Home Depot in Vernon Hills…read more I've been a loyal customer and contractor for years, but the new return policies are terrible. They make it extremely difficult to return merchandise that's only slightly past the return date -- even when it's unused and in perfect condition. The staff and store managers seem to have no authority or flexibility to help customers in any way. It's frustrating that Home Depot is becoming so rigid and unwilling to work with loyal customers and contractors. Very poor policy decisions -- disappointing to see such a decline in customer service. Better service from local lumberyard and nearby home stores.
