Since it was my very first time shopping there I was invited to become a member, downloaded their app, and did so and the keys ended costing me almost nothing for using a coupon one of their helpful employee gave me. But what I remember the most is how well I was treated. Since then I enjoy visiting their stores for most of my hardware needs. After being awarded the NC Triad Yelp Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And this ACE Hardware Store on 2303 Williamson Rd NE, in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. ACE ultimate goal is "to be the most helpful hardware store for customers, offering quality products and convenient shopping experiences with expert advice." Through personal experience I have found out that their employees go the extra mile for its customers. And they have such a variety of products, that throughout the Seasons I like visiting the store because you never know what you'll find there. Anything from pumpkins to local honey during this time of the year. As a matter of fact, the other day I had to make a gift of local honey, and here is precisely where I found it. As soon as I walked in a friendly young lady greeted me, welcomed me to their store, and made herself available to help me find anything I needed or was looking for. I could see why their slogan "ACE is the place with the helpful hardware folks," was very true indeed. As I walked through the store I was amazed at all the different products they had in such a limited amount of space compared to places like Home Depot and Lowe's. And their prices if you add the excellent service you get are not bad at all. The service they provide is extraordinary. I read in one of their ads that if you purchase one of their large barbeque grills they will go out to your house and put it together. The two young ladies that were working the night of July 6, 2017 were great in helping my daughter and chatting with while she was trying items on. I have been to this particular store several times over the past few months, and have never had a bad experience. I've never even had an average experience. It's been super every single time! The employees have been so friendly and obviously take their job seriously, making sure to wrap my glass items in newspapers even if there is a line waiting behind me. I've seen them interact with other people too, and they go out of their way to make sure the customers are happy. The store itself is generally pretty clean and organized - not perfect but above my expectations. Today we were approached while shopping at Dollar Tree in Vinton Va by a lady handing us a mask, we…read moretold her no we can't wear them. She said we had too, we said no and another lady come flying over to us telling us in a stern voice, ( yes you do ) We felt threatened by her almost Communistic approach and standing up so close on our personal space. We have been shopping at other stores prior and not treated like peasants under a dictators rule. My husband said he couldn't wear one by his health nor could I. The Lady employee said I don't care, you have to wear one or you can't shop here. We told her we will leave then that it isn't a law and she wanted to argue with us out the door, we will never shop at that Vinton store again. These businesses that want to push their Communist training on customers should close up period, this is still America at this point.
