Grabbing a generic SunJoe pressure washer, on sale with an additional coupon for the 4th!

Harbor Freight is like the Walmart of tools. Prices are going to be cheaper than if you went to Valu or True Value for name-brand items. And the quality is going to be hit-or-miss. But if you go in knowing that, and are willing to take that risk, it may be worth the reward. Harbor Freight regularly posts coupons on their website and in the paper, making the good deals worth it for us . A couple bigger ticket'ish items we've bought here are a knock-off Little Giant ladder, and a no-name Sun Joe'esque lighter-duty pressure washer. With coupons and sales, we spent far less than what the comparable premium items would have cost. So far, we have been pleased with the quality of our purchases (knock on wood). If you are really concerned, they do sell warranties at check out for pricier items. As for this particular location, the check-out staff is friendly enough, some more friendly than others. But the lines can be long, and are usually slow moving. It can be hard to find someone in the store to help you find what you need; it's definitely not like Valu where there is always a worker right at the door ready to help. But if you can hunt someone down, they will help you find the goods you want. If you are looking for top-quality name-brand tools and parts, this is probably not the place. But if you are also a cheap'o, and therefore willing to take the you-get-what-you-pay-for risk on a good deal, then Harbor Freight is for you.

However I have found myself here twice in the past week. The first time was to try to find pruners that can be used standing. While we were not able to find those, sadly, the owner (I think) and his employee went out of their way to see how they could help me. Then, a few days later, I find myself on a mission to find a certain kind of plant food. I had already checked at Home Depot while buying bird seed, but they had not had it come in for over a year and were not sure when it was coming in. I called Walmart, Loews, and two garden stores in the area too. They did not have any in stock either. On a whim I stopped in here again, asked the employee if they had it, he took me to the aisle and there it was!! I scooped up the two boxes they had. This store looks small from the outside, but it is quite large once inside. It is next to and connected to the Schuele Paint Store, more or else on the corner of Summer and Main. Rather than travel to the suburbs, I will go here first now, they are helpful, pleasant, local and easy to get to.

This is probably the smallest Ace in the area. Room to move is limited and the aisles are narrow…read more It is my place to go to when I need a little advice for my handy work. The people are friendly and know what they are talking about. Their expertise is great.

I visited on a Saturday morning and was greeted as soon as I entered, and an employee offered to help me find the contact paper right away. The cashier also cashed me out quickly. He told me it was not up to code and he said that's why it wasn't working. He worked for about an hour and a half installing a vent for our pump toilet system. I never saw him do anything but install the vent. He never looked at the pump system at all. And obviously that was the problem. But he said it was fixed and I paid well over $600. Being a basement toilet, it wasn't used much, so several days later I discovered it still was not working. I called and they sent the same guy to fix it properly. He couldn't have complained more about actually having to finishing the job this time. He actually said to me, "are you on some kind of medication or something?" blaming me for the job he never fixed the first time. He said that I was to blame for the pipes being clogged. When I asked him, are you saying that I, using it at most three times since you were here, am responsible for clogging the pipes? He paused for about 5 seconds and then said "yes". I know he never really checked things properly the first time, because I was checking on what he was doing. I called and left a message with the owner and of course he couldn't bother to respond to me, a customer... and on top of all else, the plumber started raising his voice at me. He obviously was caught lying regarding even looking for any other reason than the vent issue as to why it wasn't working. When I spoke to the plumbing manager, he told me that they have been in business 100 years? How did that help me?? The guy that was in my house, should not be anywhere near the home owner. I did find someone that fixed it. Will never go near Ed Youngs again.
