They were reasonably and friendly and I don't really have any negatives whatsoever. Since that job (which was in September), I've recommended Hector's to two or three different people. If you have any home improvement type stuff to do, as much as Home Depot and Loews get all the press, Hector's is my tip for your best bet.

But it's not as smooth as other websites, they want you to call the store with the part number to confirm availability. However this wasn't too bad, the associate Tom pulled the items for me and kept behind the counter. The items were ready for pickup immediately, so it was great to be able to pay in store then be in and out quickly. I also appreciate that I don't feel like they're trying to oversell or upsell on things I could do less expensively. For example, we are redoing our kitchen ourselves (it's an ongoing process if you know what I mean) and we reused the old cabinets because they were in good shape. The old cabinets had doors that were not compatible with hidden hinges unless you wanted to spend an *obscene* amount of money on hinges. The guys at Rockler's walked me through the options and I realized that we just needed new doors. Initially I thought we would make the doors but then that felt a bit overwhelming with all we needed to do. So I decided that we were going to buy doors. Rockler's sells doors. I figured that was perfect. When I went back in to tell the guy helping me that we were going to buy new doors, he told me that the style door we were interested in was actually a very simple one to make. He outlined the process right then and made us feel much more confident about the process. Making doors is really a better option for us because we will save a lot of money that way and we've done some woodworking before - just not cabinet doirs. We stopped in today to get our materials and when I saw that they didn't have any reviews I wanted to add one right away. He told me all I needed to know about the tool I was renting and even some extra pointers along with being able to clearly explain their rental agreement and pricing. . He didn't mumble in speech, he gave me eye contact, he shook my hand. When I know I'm gonna receive good customer service, I don't mind driving a little further or paying a little more. I was told it would be in just after 4 July. They took my info and wrote it and the price on a piece of paper. My husband went in a couple weeks later and they said next week. I called about a week and a half ago and they said it was in but they couldn't call me because they "lost" the paper with my number on it. When my husband went to pick it up he was told the sale was over and it was now the regular price! I called and said I didn't understand why I didn't get the sale price since it was them and Toro that advertised without enough stock. He call me back and said he's give it to me for $600 something. Still more than $100 more than I was quoted. The lady that was there when I went in remembered me and the situation but referred me to the owner. Hector's has been my "go to" store for everything I need to fix something for 25 years if I am serious about getting what I need quickly and as efficiently as possible. They pack an enormous amount of useful items in comparatively smaller stores than Home Depot, Lowes or even Valu but you don't feel you are in "cluttered" stores. Everything is kept organized so you can find things quickly. They hire people that know exactly what you need and if they don't they are not afraid to ask the senior staffer. I have never left a store without either the exact item or items I need to complete the task or the knowledge to go exactly where I need to for whatever I am searching for that day. I do still visit the big chains for sale items on occasion but I feel when I go into those stores there is sensory overload with all the items and sheer size of the that I many times forget what I went there for in the first place!! The other thing that drives me to madness is the inability to find somebody to ask a question in the area I am looking. Sure I can find somebody for a question I have about some electrical project but I usually have to walk to the other side of the store before I find somebody and then that guy has to put a call out on the radio to the people who can handle electrical and maybe just maybe I will get an associate in the electrical area in 10-20 minutes. Go to Hectors for anything you need and I am sure you will walk out a happy camper in a fraction of the time it would of taken you with other places.
