Stay Away, they are literally thieves. Long story short, they told me the ecu was defective and I decided to order a used replacement part (which cost $500). I brought the part to them to start to repair to only find out that they didnt even use the part that i brought them. I confronted the older gentlemen (owner?) and he gave me the most ridiculous story and tried to cover up their lie. I told them that I knew they were lying and to just give me my part back which they claimed they threw away. I left that day and told them I would report them to the authorities for stealing a $500 part and magically they made up a completely different story and they found the part that they were supposed to replace. I went and picked up my part the next day. Total scammers. Be aware and check their work. I will continue to report them on all fronts. read more

I have used this great service shop for 20 years. They are professional and care about their customers. I called yesterday which was a Saturday five minutes before closing time. Kevin helped me determine which electrical part was bad on my boat. They had the part in stock and he took payment via credit card. Harbin Marine is an honest, knowledgeable and fair mercury and mercruiser repair shop and dealer. Years ago, I had a problem with a Mariner outboard, and had bad experiences and incorrect diagnosis from three different mechanics. Finally, someone recommended Harbin Marine. They diagnosed the problem quickly and correctly, and had me back on the water in about a week. They are a long-time, family owned and family run business. They know their stuff, and do good work. I can't recommend Harbin Marine highly enough. There are other repair shops in the area, but try them at your own peril. Maybe there are other good ones -- it's likely -- but I know for a fact that there are several bad ones in the area, and while I won't stoop to naming-names, I will say that Harbin Marine is tops, and the only mechanic in the area that I will use for mercury or mercruiser work. (Note: Tyme N Tyde is also awesome for Mercruiser work, but they only work on boats that are kept at their marina, and they only work on Mercruiser I/O's or inboards, so it's not really an option for outboards, or for most boaters in the area who don't keep their vessel at Tyme N' Tyde. Nonetheless, if you keep your boat at Tyme N Tyde, you're in good hands there too!) :-) read more

The other review must be from an employee because these guys are far from honest. They claimed my boat was too heavy which caused water to get in the engine. Over the years they have charged me thousands of dollars only to find out it was a cracked exhaust header. Chip if you read this, my pride challenge is still on the table. I am the type of guy who hates dealing with mechanics and sales people. I always feel like I get treated like a moron and get taken advantage of. My outboard was having problems that exceeded my limited mechanicals skills. I was taking my boat on vacation and only had two weeks remaining, so I reluctantly brought my boat to Harbin Marine, with little to no options left. I was afraid that no one would be able to fix it in such a tight window. I brought my boat in on a Monday and had it back on Wednesday evening of the same week! At what I thought was a very fair price for the amount if work and service they did. The mechanic that I first met who did the initial diagnosis and Chip treated me with a great deal of respect and like a valued customer. I had 3 carbs rebuilt, new fuel lines and a connector on my fuel tank repaired. I went from a complete desperate panic about my boat and vacation to complete peace of mind a boat that hasn't run this good in years! The little things also made huge difference, I never connected or disconnected my trailer when I was there they always stepped up and made sure that was done for me, they greased all of my grease points on my outboard. I had screws that were missing in random locations that they replaced and changed my lower unit oil (service was not requested, but they barely charged me for it). This in now "my mechanic" and I will no longer have to panic when I have issues because I look forward to seeing these guys again and have complete confidence in their service! They were also very informative with every random questions I could come up with while I was there. There seems to be pretty good culture at the shop, I saw a couple seasoned guys a couple young bucks and it seems like they all work well together. There is good training and mentoring going there and I just got good vibes being there from everyone around. Even the other customers seemed to be happy and in good spirits, which you don't find when people are pumping out money for broken toys. They seem to be doing it right over there! I had my 2013 Red Chapparal H2O at Harbin Marine this summer with an alarm that I had thought was going to be major damage and I was leaving for vacation in 4 days. I relayed all this info to Chip and his staff and they said not to worry. They water tested it, fixed the alarm, water tested it again and fixed it. I had a problem with my bass boat not starting. Most other marine repair centers had a 3-4 week backlog to even look at it. I called Harbin Marine and they said they could look at it in just a few days. They ran diagnostics on the Mercury outboard and tested it for two days but couldn't duplicate the problem. Chip said the motor ran great and didn't need any tuning. He gave me some tips on starting the motor and installed a new trim tab at my request.
