The sauce, peanuts, and scallions all worked really well together. The steamed egg with clams was also excellent and definitely best eaten hot. The chicken fried rice was another favorite. It was flavorful without being greasy, the chicken was tender, and the cabbage gave it a nice texture. We also ordered the dry fried string beans again, and they were just as good as last time. The tomato beef stew had a rich tomato flavor and very tender beef. It wasn't my personal favorite, but my husband loved it. The restaurant has a polished but comfortable atmosphere and works well for group dinners, family meals, or a date.

Fortunately, we discovered Yuan, located in the office area of Newport. We arrived shortly after 6pm on a Friday evening, effectively an early dinner for us and most. The bright side is that we were able to finish easily within an hour. I do enjoy their little booths. We sat in one and kinda felt private even if it wasn't. Just a nice little touch, we felt. To start, we ordered the Eggplant with Minced Pepper Sauce. This had a really nice kick to it. A pretty cool way to eat Eggplant. We enjoyed it. After that, we split Veggie Noodles & the Kung Pao Tofu. The noodles were great as I anticipated. The Kung Pao Tofu was cooked pretty well too. I was looking for something different from the Ma Po Tofu I'm used to eating as I'm getting a little sick of the after taste. This Kung Pao, like most others, has a combination of every flavor palette. Perhaps a little too much for me, but maybe if they could make a General Tso's Tofu, that'll bring me back to my memories of Chinese Takeout! Anyhow, this place is pretty good for dinner at a reasonable time. I highly recommend. My other half will be trying the non-vegetarian options in the future!

Snow pea leaves are cooked beautifully. Fresh and seasoned well. XLB is not bad. Fried rice is good but I wish it has more shrimps. Pineapple beer (alcohol free) is surprisingly good. The man who had most of their popular dishes but while ordering, we found out few of them were out of stock, regardless we ordered chicken and shrimp dumplings, pork and crab dumplings, eggplant and garlic sauce, soy beef brisket, stir fried water Spanish, shrimp fried rice, half packing duck, and Sichuan style fish. All of them were so flavorful, delicious dishes. Pecking duck actually came with a whole bao setup, where we made our own ones with celery, cucumber, pineapple, duck sauce and sugar. Beef brisket was my most favorite dish. We also ordered the Non-alcoholic pineapple beer that came in a big barrel-like glass jar. The service in the beginning was good, but as the restaurant got busier, the staff members were having a harder time serving all the tables. Luckily we put in all our orders before I got busy, so all of them came out in very short intervals. Overall, a solid place serving lots of delicious dishes.

The dishes are very unique in cultural sourcing - it's not what you expect of a regular Chinese restaurant. The servings are HUGE and good for 2 servings. The ambiance is not that great even though there's a big space and there was a lot of junk sitting around the place like extra stock of drinks and boxes all over the place. I don't think people really eat-in here. When I did takeout, it was still not worth the price of other similar restaurants in the area. Also this place doesn't have combinations sold together -- you have to buy rice on the side for EVERY dish which is not a traditional way to serve each dish in general. The prices here are not worth trying it - way overpriced and overcharged! Should be more affordable since we do not get the rice with the combination plates.

Pickled Cabbage & Chili, and Sichuan Spicy Cold Jelly. The Fish Fillet soup was definitely the standout. I absolutely love this dish and order it each time we go for Sichuan food. I really enjoyed the way 62 Secret Kitchen makes this soup. The broth was nice and tangy but the pickles still retained some of their kick. The fish was super tender and the soup was loaded with meat and vegetables. I also really loved the Black Truffle Fried Rice. The beef was really tender and the rice was so flavorful and comforting. I just wish the truffle flavor came through a little more! The Spicy Cold Jelly was just okay for me. It was brutally spicy without much other flavor. The Garlic Morning Glory were super yummy and not too greasy. The leaves were still perfectly crunchy. The inside of the restaurant is so nice and sunlit in the early evening. We sat by the window, which I found really romantic. I loved looking out to the sidewalk and watching people pass by. I also think the service was top notch. Overall we had an amazing experience at 62 Secret Kitchen and would definitely return.

There's only 4 pieces in a tray, there's no reasons why they couldn't space them out. BUT this is my reason for the low score. My party of 3 was seated, we ordered our food. Then 4 tables by us were seated and ordered their food after us [parties of 2/3]. Those 4 tables all got their food before we did. Huh? Not only that, when we just finish taking the last bite of our food they were quick to come to us asking us to pay the bill. So they made us wait longer for our food and quick to make us leave? I then later noticed that the owner was wanting our table quick because some "VIP" came in to dine. They could also use more staff waiting tables rather than 1 person holding down the front of the restaurant AND sitting people. I don't know if I'll ever come back here. Or maybe just come when it's less busy. Or just come for takeout. I wish the customer experience and service was better. Otherwise, this would easily get 5 stars.

The Good: The concept is cool, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into unconventional dumpling stuffings and unique flavor pairings. It's a fun spot to check out if you're looking to try something different, but given the price and mixed flavor results, I'm probably in no rush to make it a regular rotation.
