My first experience with K9 Heeling was virtual training sessions with Mitch. I had tried a few other trainers with my new rescue dog previously, but right away Mitch was asking questions about my dog and our relationship that no one else had, and immediately began identifying room for improvement and areas we could work together. In a few one-hour virtual sessions, Mitch helped me make great strides with my rescue so that I could leave her out in my living room when I left for work without her panicking or peeing anywhere. It was clear to me that Mitch really understood dog psychology and how to best train dogs to achieve a happy and positive relationship with them. When I had to go on a week-long trip recently, I thought it would be a good opportunity to use K9 Heeling's board and train two-week program. I drove almost three hours from DC to drop her off at what appeared to be a well-maintained and remote area, which made me happy that the odds of my dog escaping to a high-traffic area were low. I was immediately greeted by employees who were expecting my dog; I conveyed my hesitation because I had never left her with strangers before and was worried that due to her size (7lbs) she might escape through a small hole in a fence or be picked on by larger dogs. They assured me that no dog is ever unsupervised when out of their kennel. Later that evening, I got an email from K9 Heeling saying that they usually wait a day to send an update, but that they knew I was nervous about leaving my dog and wanted to let me know she was settling in just fine. Over the next two weeks, I got updates via Instagram photos and videos, as well as update emails with helpful training guides. I drove back out to pick her up after two weeks and spent about an hour with Mitch discussing how they had trained her and how I could continue the training. We went on a practice walk together where my dog showed off her new heeling skills and did not even try to lunge after the free range chickens! Overall, I highly recommend K9 Heeling for training, boarding, and even grooming needs. They are well-staffed, their facilities are in good shape, they keep a close eye on all their dogs, and genuinely care about the happiness and health of each animal. WELL WORTH the long drive from DC!

At any other boarding facility, they have been stressed and anxious upon pick up. They run a clean organized business with plenty of space for my BIG dogs. I initially decided to give them a try out of convenience but I can assure you I have rebooked Jessica for boarding over and over again with no hesitation. She provides excellent care for both of my dogs in the warmth and comfort of her own home and leaves me with no doubts whenever they are in her care. You can tell she genuinely has a heart for animals and is very approachable. She happily listens to any requests, quirks, or concerns and has always been more than flexible upon drop off and pick up.
