Now a couple days later she is still sick and having trouble. I called, begged, and pleaded to have her seen by her but they can't squeeze her in knowing that she has been and is sick again. All I want is my little girl feeling better. I did not mind the fee. And yes we have been using chewy for her medicines every month. It is cheaper considering our household is HUGE. Again, when I called upon Dr. Potts and her office it is the same thing, we are to busy, we cannot squeeze her in, and you must wait til later one day in the week to have her seen by us. So Wednesday? Really?

The people couldn't have been nicer after I explained the evacuation and Leroy's behavior. If I lived in the Dublin area, this definitely would be our veterinarian. No questions. Thankfully, I chose neither, paid, and left. After doing research, it turns out all my cat needed was a switch to wet food instead of dry. It is now several months later. My cat stopped losing weight uncontrollably, got back to a healthy weight, and acts several years younger than his age. Dr. Barrs completely lacked empathy, was very passive aggressive and rude, and suggested what was best for his own pockets. I mean, seriously, instead of a simple inexpensive diet change, he suggests end of life care or daily insulin shots I had already told him I could not afford? What a piece of work he is. I fully question his professional judgment. He didn't care one iota about me or my cat. I would never bring another animal to this place again. One positive about this place is the lady at the front desk was really nice to me. Dr. Barrs, on the other hand, could use a lesson in empathy, kindness, professionalism, and not being a greedy person.

Thankfully we have been make the trip out to Dr. Gradous for almost 9 years now so that wasn't an issue. I do use the word "trip" because it is just that. Depending on where you are coming from, it can be anywhere from a 30 to 60 minute drive. But it is worth it. The building and parking lot are small, as is Dr. Gradous. But don't let that fool you. He is straight forward in his instructions (i.e. "no Ole Roy") and has been known to treat animals much better than humans on a regular basis. And that's why we don't go anywhere else. He will speak softly to them and treat them with the utmost care when they enter his presence. This reputation has preceded so much that getting an appointment can be a challenge, so plan ahead. He does this because for the animals, as he has attempted to retire twice already but obviously is still there. His costs for medicine, shots, and appointments are the lowest you will find. Also, right next door his daughter runs the grooming and boarding. The entire team is top notch. I honestly have no idea what we will do when he stays retired.
