Xena!
Leah S.

This place is fantastic and has so many great reviews for a reason. I started taking my Schnauzer / Yorkie mix, Xena (1 year and 1/2), as I noticed she was incredibly shy and timid around bigger dogs. She grew up around 2 malinois and loved them, but other dogs she seemed very scared and she also needed more socialization with other people. After a bad experience with another doggie daycare that kept her cooped up in a "bay" all day, this place was has been amazing. The facility is set up so that she has her own kennel and area, but she can go out and play as much as she chooses to. She's only been a handful of times and I already notice increased confidence and l less timid around bigger dogs and new people. The staff are very nice and seem like they take really good care of her. She doesn't want to go in the morning, but comes back wagging her tail looking happy. Highly recommend!

I heartily recommend Happy Tails Dog Ranch. The staff are very friendly and attentive to the pups, there are huge play yards, and they send "report cards" so you can see how your pup is doing. I have an older girl and I was worried she would be sad and cranky, but she had the time of her life! Look at that smile! This is my new go-to place for boarding even though it is 40 minutes away. Worth the drive!

It was really hard for me to leave my Rossy dog for boarding when we left town for two weeks, but Happy Tails made his first boarding experience a good one! They updated us every few days with a report card that let us know what he was up to and included some pictures of him having fun with his new friends, which was really reassuring. It out my mind at ease every time we got some pictures, especially when we noticed most of them included the staff playing with him. We picked him up hours ago and he still hasn't moved a muscle he's so exhausted, which is the mark of a good play time! He's covered in scrapes which tells me he was outdoors playing as well- if I had a human child I wouldn't expect them to come in from playing without scraped knees once in awhile. The facilities are absolutely beautiful, the staff seemed really interactive with the pets, and my dog can't even lift his head he played so hard for two weeks. Whenever we leave town again we know who we can trust with our very favorite thing!

I took a class last winter, hopefully this teacher is no longer there. She was young. I was not…read moreimpressed because she wasn't focused on her students. I should have asked for my money back. She often rushed through things. She didn't have an awareness of how to teach human adults, by saying something , show something, say it again in a different way, show it again slowly. She said it once, showed it quickly then expected us to do it. She would show something, then have us go do it while she talked with her friends she brought in. She didn't pay attention to her students. She only offered help when I was struggling if I asked for her help, she didn't notice when people were struggling. She was stern and not approachable. She said she had lots of experience training. Perhaps that was true but she needs to work on people skills to be a group dog trainer. This intro class was designed to rush us through a program of a bunch of different things every time so that maybe we felt we learned a lot and got our moneys worth, rather than make sure we had important things down really well. The instructor said that after we finished the class we could come in for open play. I called and left a message about this twice but no one called me back. The place was freezing cold in the winter and smelly. I've heard other people like this place, but I won't go back. I also read the review about a woman abusing a dog here and people being rude. Big fat NO.

The CLC is the place to go for puppy kindergarten in town ... there are good classes elsewhere,…read moretoo, but the CLC has a variety of instructors with new classes starting every week, so you're bound to find a class that fits in your schedule. The instructors are all dog-savvy people, with experience ranging from service dog training, therapy dogs, obedience, etc. If you should find yourself in a class that doesn't suit you for whatever reason -- you just don't "click" with the trainer, you've got a little dog and all the other dogs are big, etc. -- they're very accommodating in allowing you to switch classes. They also offer more advanced training classes, including obedience and agility. There are also drop-in classes for those competing in conformation, obedience and rally, as well as private consultations for those needing to work on specific issues. The CLC also offers Doggie Daycare 5 days a week -- actually, I think they were the first doggy daycare business in town. Since the CLC's philosophy is based upon a well-trained dog being a happy dog, their daycare services are more structured than perhaps elsewhere. It's not a doggy free-for-all -- dogs are reinforced for good behavior, gently corrected for bad behavior, and have structured play times and quiet crate times. If you have specific concerns about your dog -- e.g. one of my poodles has terrible separation anxiety -- they can work on it for you while your dog is at daycare. The bummer about the CLC? It's way on the north side of town, not very convenient for where most people live & work. The building is older and in a neighborhood that can be somewhat sketchy at night (not that I've had any sort of problem there).

So, we just stopped taking her. And, after a very bad reaction to a dog on our walk, where she redirected on me, I would get scared any time we saw a dog when we were out walking and did my best to just avoid dogs altogether. We finally decided we couldn't fix Stella on our own and we decided to take her to Black Paw Dog Training. The training we ALL received has changed our lives! Since her graduation, we have enjoyed Saturday pack walks with other graduates and Stella has done great, walking side by side with other dogs, passing dogs out on the trail and staying in a perfect heel. I never thought it could be possible. She plays ball in a neighborhood park and has perfect recall. And our walks and ball playing in the neighborhood are totally different. She can pass dogs on the trail and just walk on by without losing her mind. And taking her with us to stores is now a fun outing. No more whining. No more pulling. Just a well-behaved pup. Bernadette and Cecilia have opened up a whole new world for us that we never thought was possible. We cannot thank Black Paw Dog Training or recommend them highly enough.

First meeting Emily she took the time to not only get to know the in and outs of the issues with my pups but took the time to get to know me. We sat and talked for over an hour. Emily took notes and made sure to reassure me that she would send everything to me in an email so I wasn't overwhelmed. She then worked with my pups and demonstrated the tools I would be using. She was never negative about the issues with my dogs. Within the next couple of days I received the email instructions and I was so thankful. I started using the training instructions and my dogs showed REMARKABLE PROGRESS! My baby girl Georgia developed leash aggression and I was afraid to take her on walks because she would get into "arguments" with other dogs and people. I used the training diligently and I noticed an immediate change. I also used Emily's other tips like leaving the TV on for them while I was at work, letting them enjoy their walks by sniffing and not trying to pull them away and playing more games with them. My dog's attitudes completely changed. By the next time Emily came around they were like different puppies. There was so much harmony and happiness I was thrilled! I am incredibly grateful to Emily and her expertise with training. She's continually giving me praise but she's the one who deserves the praise. I HIGHLY recommend having Emily train your pups!

We called Emily, who met with us for almost an hour and a half. She came up with an individual training plan for Shaggy as well as helped us trouble shoot problem areas such as the elevator. We have been working with Shaggy for about a month and I already can see improvements. We now can walk on the other side of a street from a dog without him even caring. She has also helped come up with a "management plan," that involves finding escape routes and what to do when Shaggy does react. The best part about Emily is that she always makes herself available to help. Whenever I have a question I can text her and get a ready reply. On multiple occasions she has also been a great person to lean on and talk to when Shaggy has a large blow up. She even said that her job is one part dog trainer one part human trainer/councilor. She also lets me meet with her a few times a week in order to use her dog for practice sessions with Shaggy. Over this past month I have gone from frustration and embarrassment with my dog to pride and excitement over Shaggy's improvement. I can tell that he is much happier and less stressed on walks as well. I cannot thank Emily enough for all her help, and I HIGHLY recommend her for any type of dog training (especially leash reactivity).

I decided to wait until after our trip to look for a new rescue; however, a friend in Texas asked if I would please take a stray that her grand kids had found there. They couldn't keep him, they were unable to find anyone else to take him and they didn't want to drop him off at a rescue shelter there. Hence, I ended up with an untrained but loveable stray named Buddy. Due to the short amount of time before our trip, I looked for a place to teach him some manners. Based on a recommendation from another company and the glowing reviews on the web, I dropped him off at Dog Dynamix for 3 weeks of board and train for $3,495. Pricey, but I was glad they would be able to complete his training before we left for Montana. Imagine my surprise when Buddy came back to me unable to do anything that he hadn't been doing when I dropped him off. He could do a little heeling for very brief periods provided there were zero distractions. Same with 'sit'. Didn't know 'stay' or 'down'. No basic obedience behavior whatsoever. What I got for my $3,495 was 1 pet cot, 1 slip leash, 1 remote collar set and 4 cans of dog food (not a part of his regular diet). I did not get a dog that exhibited any training. Fortunately, he's still very loveable. I would not recommend Dog Dynamix for anything other than possibly boarding.
