Startz Veterinary

Startz Veterinary

I've used Startz Vet since 2018 and I highly recommend them…read more At my most recent annual visit, we had the best experience! The vet and techs made my husky Lucy feel relaxed and comfortable before checking her out thoroughly and administering necessary vaccinations. The vet was so kind and was informative, asked questions and demonstrated sincere care for my dog's health and well-being. I was also able to take advantage of a special deal they offered that eliminated the charge for the exam. The offices are clean, warm and welcoming. Loved the husky switch plate!

I see a pattern here... it's not good. I've been with Startz Vet for 5 years now. I can honestly…read moresay Dr Kaufman is the best. However, there seems to be a change in the front office. My experience was so bad, I have changed vets. They treat you like you are an idiot. They put you on hold and forget you are waiting. They call you to set an appointment to review test results, then they demand a $50 "consultation fee" before you can talk to a vet to discuss lab (blood test) results. Evidently, you must interpret the results on your own unless you pay the hostage fee. When I tried to set a meeting to discuss with Dr Kaufman, I was deny access to him. This place is just insane. Maybe they were bought out and "Dr Brown" (office manager) runs the show. I suspect she has a PhD in finance on how to nickel and dime customers. The final straw was I was not able to have a discussion with Dr Kaufman. I feel I was blocked from talking to him. I'm done with being "managed" when my pup is sick and at risk. Read the most recent reviews and see the pattern. This place treats people with disrespect. I would love to have a call with Dr Kaufman to get closure. My first question will be "what changed with your front office". In a small town, people want a relationship with the vet, not the front office. If the tail (front office) thinks they wag the dog, they are sorely mistaken! Keep treating clients like I was, you will run them ALL off. I'm out! UPDATE: I found a new vet and puppy problem solved. Turns out it was parasites. A simple fix. Startz turned a mole hill into a mountain of problems for me. Turns out, they lead me away from them and I found a vet who figured it out first time without exuberant cost and heartache. Sometimes, God closes one door to open a better door for you.

First I have to say that there is great staff at this location. Not only do they seem like they…read morereally like dogs but they are great with us humans as well. I have a unique circumstance where my son plays football for UTSA and travels every weekend even for home games. He has two dogs who needed to board while he is away. Lucy's has gives wonderful customer service in that we have had several unique situations to work around and they found solutions when I didn't even know what to do. I love the play areas with water features and yes I'm a video watching junkie on the web cams. It's fun to watch the pups play and the staff is attentive to those that get a little rowdy by just using their body to walk between in a calm manner. I see staff giving a pet or hug or engaging them in some play. There can be a lot of dogs in there and I haven't seen a real scuffle yet. They do a great job monitoring and intervening before any pup gets to rowdy. Prices are decent and multiple dog as well as police, fire, and military discounts. Our pups come home fed and socialized and are happy when we take them to drop off. Traveling Tails vet is next door and has been super helpful in a pinch when we needed a booster shot. We will be having our pups here for the season, Birds Up!

The facility is large, clean, and inviting, and its online customer service is outstanding…read more However, there were too many dogs, and I felt like the greeting and tour were rushed. I understand there is limited staff, and I realize they have to turn their attention to other customers and tasks, but I would have liked to watch our dog more through the back windows before committing to leaving her there for the day. I'm guessing there were between 70 and 100 dogs in the play area, and most seemed well-adjusted and content. However, it seemed a bit much, and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving our dog there. She loves playing but could not connect with any specific dog and was overwhelmed by the many dogs showing interest in her. We watched for at most 10 minutes, and the whole time, she was looking to hide, running from the other dogs with her tail between her legs. The staff was present, monitoring behavior and cleaning up, so the issue for me is the number of dogs, not the staff. I asked if there was a maximum number of dogs they allowed, and without a yes or no, I was told the number of kennels they had, which was over 250. The kennels can hold more than one dog at a time, so it's feasible that 300 dogs could be there if all the kennels were full. The kennels are in a climate-controlled warehouse-type area with individual chain-link "suites" and the regular areas. The difference is a little more square footage, and a webcam comes with the suite. I'd summarize this place as the big box store of doggy daycares where you'll get everything you need, but not necessarily the best experience for the pet. This review is based on my personal experience. I am not seeking a refund, to be made whole again, or for changes to be made. It is simply informative.
