The Reckless Unicorn - Great seasonal supply and display. (Is it possible to alter term the "Reckless" when you are asking people to trust buying from you!)

When you're seeking clothes, toys and gifts for kids and babies, I recommend that you make this…read moreyour first stop. It will likely be your last, because they have a stellar selection of kids toys (many great for childhood development and fun) and the cutest kids clothes. You can save yourself hours at a mall or one of those nasty chains you probably don't want to go to. I recently went in there and came out with a several gifts, all in about 30 minutes. The customer service is top notch - they're friendly, know their products, and can give good advice on what to pick based on your needs, and the kids' ages/interests. For winter holidays, they have both Christmas and Hanukkah themed gifts (clothes, pajamas, knitwear). They carry Mini Rodini, one of my favorite kids brands. They get bonus points for being well staffed - having enough staff to give 1:1 help to customers even during the holiday rush. Great hours, they open early enough that you can grab a gift before brunch or whatever else you have going on for the day. These people are a godsend. I'm rating this best kids store in L.A.

I went in searching for a gift for a 5 yo and had no clue what I wanted to get. The woman behind the counter was very helpful in pointing out a variety of potential options and then gave me time and space to browse. I love that they carry some clothing and books that are more local to LA, which made the gifts feel more unique and personal in a way. I would also much rather support local shops than massive e-commerce companies. So, I'll be doing more gift shopping here in the future!

I've been visiting a lot of boutiques and gift shops on the Eastside and I've started to get a bit…read morebored. Simply put, I keep finding the same merchandise over and over again. Treehaus, on the other hand, had a ton of pieces that I've never seen before, either in Los Angeles or elsewhere. This shop carries a couple lines of interesting jewelry collections (I particularly liked the more industrial/brutalist of them), a range of adult and baby clothes and an interesting and eclectic line of eye wear. While the adult clothing skews toward femme, I would describe many of them as unisex, which fits the cool queer/feminist vibe of the shop. There were a lot of cool housewares that, again, I've never seen before. These range from the practical (metal soap dishes) to the purely aesthetic (fun art prints of famous spots in LA.) Lots of retro designs can be found to decorate your living space. Other things I really enjoyed: a human bone and organ ink stamp collection, fun notebooks and adorable stuffed animals. And of course, they had a great collection of books and cards. Prices were on par for quality. It's very middle of the road for a gift shop or boutique. The clerks on duty were friendly and personable. I would definitely have felt comfortable going to them with questions. I will definitely return the next time I'm shopping for a friend.

Fantastic store, little gem. Very courteous and professional staff as well. Will return!read more
