She was bored with, and struggled with, memorizing hundreds of "snappy words" or "sight words", despite her interest in reading generally. When Elizabeth visited us, she agreed that "sight words" were heavily over used, and told us that in fact, "rule breaking" English words are rare. It just turns out, in popular education today, we have stopped teaching most of the English rules. During our daughter's weekly lessons, both my wife and I have enjoyed sitting in and learning the English rules that we never learned 30 years ago! Knowing our daughter, my wife and I knew immediately that she, in particular, would strongly benefit from further lessons in rule-based English phonics. In addition to the lessons themselves, our daughter really likes Elizabeth and enjoys her company. Since last year, my daughter's reading ability and interest have soared. With regular help and guidance from Elizabeth, our daughter has gained so much more insight than we ever could have anticipated.
