When my oldest was born she had severe issues with her weight. She was breastfed and with every check-up she was declining in weight range. We were seeing a different pediatrician at the time and we tested and considered numerous options. We even tried feeding her rice cereal a bit early to help her gain weight, but the poor baby was allergic and broke out in hives. After 6 months, and her weight dropping from the 30th percentile at birth to the 6th percentile, I decided to make a change and search for a pediatrician who would be more diligent in her efforts to find a solution. I did some research and found Dr. Bourland while she was still working with another office. I was impressed by our first visit and just a week later my daughter was vomiting, dehydrated, and Dr. Bourland advised us to go to the hospital. My daughter was there for 3 days while they monitored her and ran tests and although we never determined what the issue was, Dr. Bourland had a sense of urgency that I never experienced with the previous pediatrician. I was immediately put at ease that I made the right decision in changing doctors. That was 5 years ago and even after moving from SA to Houston and now to Dallas, Dr. Bourland is still the only pediatrician I trust with my kids and we have been back twice for visits since I relocated. Dr. Bourland's office is one of the few I can call with an emergency and get an appt same day. Her staff is friendly and helpful and I always feel at home when I'm there. They are on time for appointments and her diagnosis is quick, but ALWAYS accurate. I will need to look for a local pediatrician soon, but my family and I will miss Dr. Bourland dearly and will always remember her fondly. You cannot find a better and more caring doctor for your kids.

I'm so glad we went to PediOrthoSA! The desk staff were all kind and helpful (they are serious about parents needing ID, they tell you this when you schedule an appt). We never had to wait very long to see the doc. Tech/Nurse (sorry I didn't get his official title) Joshua made my son and I feel so at ease. Joshua has a wonderful spirit and his smile and positive attitude, efficient manner all made what was a really stressful situation (kid had broken bones!) feel not so stressful. He even went the extra mile and told us about another cast color available that would match my son's outfit! When Dr. Warman came in, he smiled, was funny and always had a joke for my son on subsequent visits. He was efficient and didn't keep us any longer than needed. He is a skilled doctor and my son healed great. The X-ray tech and checkout ladies were so nice too. Definitely great care given here, I didn't expect the doctor to hold my hand, just to help my child heal. We were treated with kindness and respect here in an efficient manner.

The MA perfectly gave us the right amount of humor & response needed as a new patient with nervousness and "what'if's" that exponentially were settled right away & the doctor came in the room with expertise & efficiency! He qued on me being a visual learner and promptly said "actually, follow me, I can show you the x-ray images" and I'm ever so grateful for that let alone the humor he showcased while vocally showing me EXACTLY what I was looking at/the situation. My only harp to say, the staff member who came in to do further images/x-ray's seemed to hate her job & was a 'wet blanket' of a personality but hey! We all have our moments & I know this field is hard! If you're looking to have a doc to sugar coat things and hold your hand 100% through it, this is not the place BUT if you want efficiency & accuracy with a splash of humor this is it! So we took him to urgent care and he had double ear infection, conjunctivitis in both eyes, throat visibly red with drainage. Was prescribed antibiotics for symptoms and eye drops. And was tested for flu and covid just in case. Because what he had was highly contagious. 5 out of 6 family members got sick including a newborn. Needless to say do not see Dr. Rodriguez, as bad as the baby looked, I'm glad he didn't need to be hospitalized.

Why is it my responsibility to pay the doctor? 1 bill for service, like normal businesses. The company should be responsible for paying the doctor, not me. I didn't like having to do self check in either. A receptionist would have been nice at the front desk to greet patients, instead of feeling lost until someone from the back came out. The customer service was really really good, but the one complaint is I was given a chest xray after I had already said no. That is unacceptable and now I'm literally paying for it.

Over the next couple of days, it became inflamed and started to hurt. Unfortunately, I waited until the redness was covering from my elbow to my wrist. When the swelling started pressing against my arm nerves, I knew I had to get to a doctor. I made the decision about 10 PM on Monday night to go to this new ER. Parking was easy as this used to be a grocery store parking lot. I walked in and found a totally empty waiting room and reception area. I looked around for some way to contact the folks, but everything was closed. In a few minutes a nurse came out to see who had entered, and finding me with a swollen red arm, took me straight back to a treatment room. After taking a medical history, discussion of what happened, and getting my vitals, she had me lie down and went to get a doctor. Upon returning, she asked if I had my phone with me, and finding I did, said I would receive a text and that I needed to follow the directions in the text. I did that, and it amounted to completing all the paperwork that needed to be completed. This was so much better than having to fill out all the paperwork myself. The doctor came in, went over all the same stuff the nurse had done, and indicated that they were going to start me on a very strong antibiotic then, and would write me a prescription for 10 days of the same antibiotic. I was advised not to miss any of the medication (taken 3 times per day) for 10 days. I was also advised to go to my PCP by the end of the week for follow up. He also said that if it got worse, before I got in to see my PCP that I should return to him. So here I am a week after the bite. The medicine has really made a difference in the arm. He warned me that the antibiotic may give me stomach trouble, and he was right. So he has been accurate on all that he said. Will I return? Hopefully I will not need to come back, but if I do need the ER, I definitely will come back here. They did everything I needed.

I remember at one of my earliest doctor appointments as a child, when I was 8, hearing the doctor telling my mom I needed to be in a sterile environment, with plastic sheets, no curtains, no carpet, nothing that would collect dust, no stuffed toys..... in EVERY picture of me as a child, I am clutching some stuffed, or real, animal, for dear life - a born cuddler. I was traumatized by that doctor visit, breaking down into tears while the doctor described what I later in life thought might have been a "bubble". My Mom didn't do it, thankfully. What she did instead was give me Chlortrimeton every morning, a big heaping green tablespoon full. I could breathe in the mornings, but I was in a stupor, too. My teachers called me a "daydreamer". Then in the afternoons when the "green stuff" wore off, the sneezing began, and tears streamed down my face so hard people thought I left school every day crying. It was ridiculous. After the surgery earlier this year, my surgeon sent me to Dr. Mike. A happy coincidence, one of my friends, a girl I've known and been close with since age 12, has worked for Dr. Mike for something like 30 years. The course of treatment Dr. Mike designed for me is keeping me breathing. I wonder if people who don't suffer from allergies, or who only suffer occasionally, have any reason to realize what a drastic life change it is to breathe freely from your nose - a thing I have never been able to do. There is so much more to my history than I could share in this forum. I can't say enough about the warmth and care of the staff, either. A couple of times, with my overly-sensitive system, I've reacted to treatment. The whole group goes into "fix it mode". Yesterday, Dr. Adrianne took a look at the spreading redness after a shot, and it was easily handled. When she asked me how I was doing overall, I had an "aha" moment, even for me. I can BREATHE. It is so amazing. These are kind, caring, dedicated professionals who are making such a difference for people like me. The issues began from my very first interaction and continued throughout my care. The front desk staff, in particular, consistently came across as rude, dismissive, and condescending. Every interaction felt as though I was an inconvenience rather than a patient seeking medical care. Basic courtesy and professionalism seemed to be in short supply. Beyond the customer service concerns, the office's processes are remarkably disorganized, inefficient, and outdated. There is no patient portal for communication, and orders and results are often handled through handwritten documents and mail. In an era where most medical practices have embraced streamlined digital communication, this office appears stuck decades in the past. My initial treatment experience was mishandled from the start due to incorrectly processed paperwork, resulting in unnecessary trips to the office. For me, that means a 20-mile commute that can take anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. After receiving injections, I experienced a severe adverse reaction. Despite the circumstances, I received no assistance in recovering the money I had paid for medication that was still sitting unused in their refrigerator. Over the course of my treatment, I have undergone extensive testing through this office. Most recently, I was instructed to schedule an appointment simply to pick up a testing kit. I arrived for the appointment only to discover the kit wasn't ready. I had to drive home, return later, and then drive home again--wasting hours of my time. When I finally went to complete the testing, I discovered that critical test tubes were missing from the kit they had provided. Communication has been equally disappointing. I requested a letter explaining my symptoms and medical condition as it relates to eating while traveling. I never received a callback regarding the request. When I finally called to follow up and simply stated my name, I was abruptly told, "She is not writing your letter!" The dismissive and unprofessional nature of that response was shocking. As a fellow healthcare provider, I was appalled by how the request was handled. As a patient, I expected at least a basic level of courtesy and respect. Ironically, while my own concerns often went unanswered, I have spent extended periods sitting in the office listening to staff discuss their personal family frustrations for 20 minutes or more without hesitation. The final straw came when I needed a results booklet that was only slightly larger than a magazine. Despite the significant distance I travel to this office and the fact that mailing it would have been a simple solution, I was told I had to make yet another trip to pick it up. With the amount of time, fuel, and inconvenience this office has already cost me, this felt like one more example of a complete lack of consideration for patients. Healthcare is stressful enough without having to navigate disorganization, poor communication, repeated administrative errors, and discourteous treatment. I am deeply disappointed in the care and service I received and will be taking my healthcare needs elsewhere. I cannot recommend this practice based on my experience.
